Abstract

The existence of a significant quantity gap between religious adherents in Indonesia has the potential to lead to violations of religious freedom. And addition with the application of the rules regarding the right to religious freedom in Indonesia, which are felt to be not optimal, it has led to various arguments by Indonesian experts and scholars in responding to this, including Hamka who also contributed to the construction of ideas about religious freedom in one of his monumental works, namely Tafsir al-Azhar. For this reason, the presence of this study aims to present the construction of Hamka's thoughts regarding the phenomenon of religious freedom that occurs in Indonesia. This study used literature (Library research) with a qualitative approach. The data analysis used in this research is content analysis. In qualitative research, especially in qualitative verification strategies, this data analysis technique is considered to be the most frequently used data analysis technique. This study found that Hamka in his position as a scholar as well as a writer and humanist accepted the concept of religious freedom, especially in Indonesia. This is evidenced by his rejection of the element of coercion in embracing a religion, especially if it has the potential to cause conflict and violence between religions because of the truth claims of each religion (Claim Truth). Because according to him, Islam never teaches violence and war. However, behind Hamka's acceptance of religious freedom, he also puts a limit on the matter, namely that it is not permissible to combine faith and shirk.

Abstract

This study aims to find the significance (main message) or maghza of the hadith text regarding the position of Imamatein prayer. This study is a qualitative research method with ama'na cum maghza of hermeneutical approach as an analytical tool. The debate over the position of women as Imamate over men is a hot issue that continues to this day. The majority of debates among scholars so far have only focused on the authenticity of indicating whether the hadith is authentic, hasan, or daif, without looking at the important issues contained in the context of the hadith. This study concludes that the hadith about Ummu Waraqah being an Imamate for men is an affirmation by the Prophet Muhammad SAW regarding gender equality. It has implications for the legality of women becoming Imamate over men based on a fluent understanding of prayer procedures and qiraat Al-Qur'an, the legality of women's struggles in defending religion, and the legality of women's leadership both in the domestic and public spheres

Abstract

Creating an ideal life for society is not solely the responsibility of society itself, but it requires collaboration between society and the state in creating a peaceful, prosperous, open, advanced, and modern society or better known as civil society. The role of the Koran as a guideline for human life should also talk about this. Therefore, it is necessary to reveal the indicators of civil society in the Koran so that the idealized term of civil society can be realized. By using the content analysis method, this article describes and reveals what indicators must be met to realize civil society in Indonesia as contained in the al-Qur'an. This article finds that in order to realize what is called civil society in Indonesia, the state needs to carry out its obligations and fulfill the rights of its people as well as uphold the principles of faith, humanity, unity, deliberation, and justice, and the society becomes a civilized society, upholds it. Human values, as well as divine values, highlight the material dimension as well as the spiritual dimension built on the pillars of religion and advance in the mastery of science and technology. Menciptakan kehidupan yang ideal bagi masyarakat bukan semata tanggung jawab masyarakat itu sendiri, namun diperlukan kolaborasi antara masyarakat dan negara dalam menciptakan masyarakat yang damai, sejahtera, terbuka, maju, dan modern atau yang lebih dikenal sebagai masyarakat madani. Peranan al-Qur‘an sebagai pedoman hidup manusia semestinya juga membicarakan tentang hal tersebut. Oleh karenanya, perlu mengungkap indikator masyarakat madani dalam alQur‘an agar term masyarakat madani yang diidam-idamkan dapat terwujud. Dengan menggunakan metode analisis isi, artikel ini menjelaskan dan mengungkap apa saja indikator yang wajib dipenuhi untuk mewujudkan masyarakat madani di Indonesia yang terdapat dalam al-Qur‘an. Artikel ini menemukan bahwa untuk mewujudkan apa yang disebut dengan masyarakat madani di Indonesia, negara perlu menjalankan kewajibannya dan menunaikan hak-hak rakyatnya serta menjunjung tinggi prinsip-prinsip keimanan, kemanusiaan, persatuan, permusyawaratan dan keadilan, dan masyarakatnya menjadi masyarakat yang beradab, menjunjung tinggi nilai-nilai kemanusiaan sekaligus nilainilai ketuhanan, menonjolkan dimensi material sekaligus dimensi spiritual yang dibangun di atas pilar agama serta maju dalam penguasaan ilmu pengetahuan, dan teknologi.

Abstract

The exegetical products concerning women in institutional Quranic interpretations in Indonesia are significantly influenced by ideological contestation, cultural and social structures, and the political authority behind the exegetical writing teams. Consequently, textual comprehension may become biased and not entirely objective. Given this, exploring the ideological aspects underlying the production of religious texts is of paramount importance. This study employs a descriptive-analytical method with Michael Foucault's power relations approach to uncover the ideological dimensions behind exegetical production. Through this approach, the research addresses how societal social structures and state ideologies can influence the production of exegeses regarding women's roles and status in institutional interpretations in Indonesia. The study found that the interpretation of women's leadership in the Thematic Quranic Exegesis of Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia is not only influenced by factors such as gender, women's characteristics, perceived female inability to address state issues, and the entrenched patriarchal culture in Indonesia, but also by motives of ideological contestation underlying interpretative production. Contextually, this exegesis was produced by the Ministry of Religious Affairs in 2009 during a presidential election contest between male and female candidates. The research concludes that exegetical production in Indonesia is affected by social contexts and power ideologies. The primary contribution of this study lies in tracing the aspects of ideological contestation, societal social structures, and the role of those in power behind the emergence of gender-related exegetical products in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the current phenomenon in urban areas in particular, where many people hold wedding parties but do not rent a building for the reception. They are hampered by the availability of a suitable place if they do it around the house, many of them only use public roads partially or close them for the celebration. This causes some road users to experience difficulties, resulting in frequent obstruction of the activity of vehicles wishing to pass, especially in Tahtul Yaman Village, Jambi City. This research aims to see the hadith perspective regarding this phenomenon. This research uses field research and library research which uses qualitative methods with an emphasis on written sources, especially matters relating to the hadith of Sahih Muslim no. 58. This research uses data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. As well as using the theory of fahm al-hadith and i'tibar sanad hadith. The results of this research found that the use of public roads for the Walimah Urusy event from a hadith perspective, as per the hadith narrative about the embodiment of "lowest faith," is actually about removing distractions from the road, namely keeping away everything that disturbs people, such as stones, bones, glass, thorns, and so forth. As for the practice of the Tahtul Yemen Community, using only half a road or closing it is haram, what is done as a custom at the walimah event is an act that is not in accordance with the spirit and spirit of this hadith.

Abstract

This article discusses one of the topics of the study of the Qur'anic science which was developed by one of the contemporary thinkers, namely Mahmud Muhammad Taha. He considered that the Islamic teachings contained in the madaniyah verses were irrelevant at this time because they contained values ​​that were less tolerant and even radical. Meanwhile, the Makiyah verses contain fundamental values ​​such as justice, equality, tolerance, democracy, and human rights. So, according to him, madaniyah verses need to be replaced with these makiyah verses. With such an inverted nasakh concept, he wants to carry out an evolution of sharia where according to him sharia is something historical that can change according to the situation and conditions that require it. The concept of nasakh al-Qur'an developed by Taha is different from the concept of nasakh agreed upon by the majority of scholars. Therefore, based on the critical analysis in this article, it can be said that the nasakh Taha concept still has a number of epistemological problems so that it is not valid for use in interpreting the verses of the Qur'an. Artikel ini mendiskusikan tentang topik kajian ilmu al-Qur’an yang dikembangkan oleh salah satu tokoh pemikir kontemporer yaitu Mahmud Muhammad Taha. Ia menilai bahwa ajaran Islam yang terkandung dalam ayat-ayat madaniyah tidak Sesuai dengan nilai – nilai kemanuasiaan dan masyarakat modern karena ayat madaniyah mengandung nilai radikalisme dan berlawanan dengan hak asasi manusia. Sementara ayat-ayat makiyah berisi tentang nilai-nilai fundamental seperti keadilan, kesetaraan, toleransi, demokrasi, dan HAM. Sehingga, menurutnya, ayat-ayat madaniyah perlu di-nasakh dengan ayat-ayat makiyah tersebut. Dengan konsep nasakh terbalik seperti demikian ia ingin melakukan evolusi terhadap syariat di mana menurutnya syariat merupakan sesuatu yang bersifat historis yang dapat berubah sesuai situasi dan kondisi yang menghendakinya. Konsep nasakh al-Qur’an yang dikembangkan oleh Taha tersebut berbeda dengan konsep nasakh yang disepakati oleh mayoritas ulama. Oleh karena itu, berdasarkan analisis kritis dalam artikel ini dapat dikatakan bahwa konsep nasakh Taha tersebut masih terdapat sejumlah permasalahan epistemologis sehingga tidak valid untuk digunakan dalam penafsiran al-Qur’an.

Abstract

This research is initiated by the economic contestation in both the Islamic and Western worlds. In the context of Islamic theology, there are several views which say that success is dependent on human’s effort and God's will. The purpose of this research is to explore the concept of entrepreneurial motivation that carried out by the Qolbu Management (QM), Emotional Spiritual Quotion (ESQ) and The Pattern of Allah's Help (PAH). It’s a qualitative approach. The source of data in this research are by analyzing books, videos, audio visuals such as Youtube, then by studying literature (library research). Scientific interviews will also be conducted with several individuals (academics and practitioners) as supporters of the distinction of Islamic theology with an entrepreneurial spirit. The findings were motivated by the emergence of the concept Qolbu Management, ESQ and PAH which is one of the efforts to integrate the teachings of Theological Tauhid into the concept of Islamic entrepreneurship. The similarities between the concepts of Qolbu Management, ESQ and PPA are Theological Tauhid. While the differences are the Qolbu Management Concept is closer to Asy Ariyah theology, ESQ is closer to the Mu'azilah theology concept, while PAH is more identical to the Jabariyah concept. The point of the concept of entrepreneurship, monotheism and the concept entrepreneurial of Qalbu Management, ESQ and PAH, namely: Guiding towards the maximum monotheism and teaching humans to try with their potentials and do not forget to surrender to Allah SWT Penelitian ini diawali dengan kontestasi perekonomian baik di dunia Islam maupun Barat. Dalam konteks teologi Islam ada beberapa pandangan yang mengatakan bahwa kesuksesan adalah tergantung dari usaha manusia dan kehendak Tuhan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mendalami konsep motivasi wirausaha yang dilakukan oleh Manajemen Qalbu (MQ), Emotional Spritual Quotion (ESQ) dan Pola Pertolongan Allah (PPA). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan menganalisis buku-buku, video-video, audio visual seperti Youtube, kemudian dengan studi literatur (library research). Wawancara ilmiah juga akan dilakukan dengan beberapa individu (akademisi dan praktisi) sebagai pendukung distingsi ilmu teologi Islam dengan spirit wirausaha. Hasil temuan dalam penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh munculnya konsep Manajemen Qolbu, ESQ dan PPA yang merupakan salah satu usaha untuk mengintegrasikan ajaran-ajaran Tauhid Teologis kedalam konsep wirausaha secara islami. Adapun persamaan dari konsep Manajemen Qolbu, ESQ dan PPA yaitu Tauhid Teologis. Sedangkan perbedaannya Konsep Manajemen Qolbu Lebih mendekati teologi Asy Ariyah, ESQ mendekati Konsep teologi Mu’tazilah sedangkan PPA lebih identik dengan konsep Jabariyah. Titik temu konsep kewirausahaan dan ketaudhid dan konsep wirausaha manajemen Qalbu, ESQ dan PPA yakni : Membimbing terhadap ketauhidan yang maksimal dan mengajarkan manusia untuk berusaha dengan potensi yang dimiliki dan kemudian tidak lupa akan berpasrah diri kepada Allah SWT

Abstract

Traditions inherited from ancestors from generation to generation always have a deep moral message. In addition, the process of preserving local culture has also experienced a pattern of integration of religious teachings, especially Islam. The tradition of ending kaji is a unique tradition rooted in the people of Muara Pemuat Batang Asai Village as a form of local culture that has integrated Islamic teachings. Because of this, this research aims to uncover the messages contained in the tradition of the end of the study by focusing on knowing the basis, procession, meaning, understanding and values contained in this tradition. To dig up all the necessary information, this field-based research uses qualitative methods by applying the meaning approach and the living Qur'an approach. Like the field qualitative method, in collecting research data using observation, documentation and in-depth interviews. This study found that the implementation of the tradition of the kaji graduate, apart from being based on the hereditary habits of the ancestors, was also reinforced by various arguments about the virtues of reading the Koran. The procession in this tradition is generally divided into two, namely the process of picking up the bride and groom by the main bako (bibik) to take her home, and the process of sending her back to the parents' house after being decorated and ready to carry out the end of the study. Uniquely when picking up, the bako mother has to carry a peliman, which is a bowl containing lime, betel nut, areca nut, and a knife or keris left by the ancestors. Then when sending back, the bride and groom are taken to the parents' house to be honored by asang-asung, a chair tied with bamboo and decorated which has been lifted by the relatives of ipa (cousins), and the main bako accompanies from behind carrying the main paibut, jamba, and rice tray. For the people of Muara Pemuat village, the end of the study tradition is understood in terms of its functions and benefits. The function of this tradition is as a token of parental gratitude, as a form of parental responsibility towards their children, and as a reinforcement of local customs. Then the benefits that can be drawn from this tradition are to obtain blessings, to become a means of increasing reading of the Qur'an, to motivate families about the importance of being proficient in reading the Qur'an, to become a place for friendship, to become a place for self-maturity and finally, to become a means of charity. Not only that, the tradition of graduating from the study also contains deep values. There are at least eight values contained in this tradition, namely divine values, human values, spiritual values, ritual values, life values, social values, moral values and intellectual values Tradisi warisan para leluhur dari generasi ke generasi senantiasa memiliki pesan moral yang mendalam. Selain itu proses pelestarian budaya lokal juga telah mengalami pola integrasi ajaran keagamaan terutama agama Islam. Tradisi tamat kaji adalah tradisi unik yang mengakar pada masyarakat Desa Muara Pemuat Batang Asai sebagai bentuk budaya lokal yang telah terintegrasi ajaran agama Islam. Sebab itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyingkap pesan yang terkandung dalam tradisi tamat kaji dengan berfokus pada mengetahui tentang dasar, prosesi, pemaknaan, pemahaman hingga nilai-nilai yang terkandung dalam tradisi tersebut. Untuk menggali semua informasi yang diperlukan, penelitian yang berbasis lapangan ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan menerapkan pendekatan makna dan pendekatan living Qur’an. Layaknya metode kualitatif lapangan, dalam mengumpulkan data penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasi, dokumentasi dan wawancara mendalam. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa pelaksanaan tradisi tamat kaji, selain didasari oleh kebiasaan turun temurun nenek moyang, juga diperkuat oleh berbagai dalil tentang keutamaan tentang membaca al-Qur’an. Prosesi dalam tradisi inipun secara umum terbagi dua yaitu proses penjemputan pengantin oleh induk bako (bibik) untuk dibawa kerumahnya, dan proses pengantaran kembali ke rumah orangtua setelah selesai dihias dan siap melaksanakan tamat kaji. Uniknya saat penjemputan, induk bako harus menggendong peliman yaitu sebuah mangkuk yang berisi kapur, sirih, pinang, dan pisau atau keris peninggalan nenek moyang. Kemudian saat pengantaran kembali, pengantin dibawa ke rumah orang tua dengan dijunjung asang-asung, sebuah kursi yang diikat dengan bambu dan sudah diberi dekorasi yang diangkat oleh para sanak ipa (sepupu), dan induk bako mengiring dari belakang dengan membawa induk paibut, jamba, dan talam beras. Bagi masyarakat desa Muara Pemuat tradisi tamat kaji ini dipahami dari segi fungsi dan manfaatnya. Fungsi dari tradisi ini yaitu sebagai tanda terima kasih orangtua, sebagai bentuk tanggung jawab orangtua terhadap anaknya, dan sebagai penguatan adat istiadat setempat. Kemudian manfaat yang dapat diambil dari tradisi ini yaitu untuk memperoleh keberkahan, menjadi sarana peningkatan baca al-Qur’an, memotivasi keluarga betapa tentang pentingnya mahir membaca al-Qur’an, menjadi ajang silaturrahmi, menjadi ajang pendewasaan diri dan terakhir menjadi sarana bersedekah. Tidak hanya sebatas itu, tradisi tamat kaji ini juga memiliki kandungan nilai yang dalam. Setidaknya ada delapan nilai yang terkandung dalam tradisi ini yaitu nilai ketuhanan, nilai kemanusiaan, nilai spiritual, nilai ritual, nilai kehidupan, nilai sosial, nilai moral dan nilai intelektual

Abstract

The discourse concerning whether the Qur'an possesses thematic unity has persisted as a subject of prolonged debate throughout history up to the present day. While the majority acknowledges this unity, a minority rejects it. These contrasting perspectives bear significant implications for the methodology of tafsīr al-mawḍū'ī (thematic exegesis): namely, the robustness or fragility of this method. Consequently, this paper examines the historical discourse on Qur'anic thematic unity, contextualizing it with the methodology and urgency of tafsīr al-mawḍū'ī in the modern context to strengthen the foundations of this method. After applying the principles of literature review utilizing historical analysis, this study demonstrates that the discourse on Qur'anic thematic unity falls under the terms naẓm (coherence), siyāq (context), and munāsabah (correlation) in 'ulūm al-qur'ān (Qur'anic sciences), as well as the theory of istiqrā' (induction) in uṣūl al-fiqh (principles of Islamic jurisprudence), all of which are relevant as analytical tools for tafsīr al-mawḍū'ī. Thus, this paper has implications for strengthening the arguments of the group that accepts the unity of meaning in the Qur'an while simultaneously reinforcing the methodological foundations of tafsīr al-mawḍū'ī.

Abstract

Diverse concepts concerning the attitude of religious moderation in Indonesia, which continues to develop, demonstrate how Indonesian Muslim intellectuals view tolerant attitudes toward followers of other religions. There are also Hamka, Bisri Mustafa, and Quraish Shihab, each with their own Tafsir works. The fact that these interpretation figures were born in various generations places them in different circumstances. Using Kuhn's approach to the concept of a paradigm shift (paradigm shift), this article attempts to determine how these figures respond to religious tolerance in Indonesia in their respective works of interpretation by analyzing the shift in interpretation. The analysis will be guided by evaluating an ideology's ideological background, power relations (authority), and fanaticism. This study centers on the verses of religious moderation, specifically surah al-Baqarah [2]: 256, Ali 'Imran [3]: 85, and Al-Kafirun [109]: 1-6, which will also be examined by analyzing sociocultural aspects and interpretation authority. The findings of this study indicate a shift from Madhabi theology to Humanist theology among the figures mentioned above. Bisri Mustafa and Quraish Shihab are more tolerant of differences than Hamka, whose interpretation tends to be more traditional when examining religious and cultural ties. This case demonstrates the influence of diverse Indonesian contexts on the interpretation.
