Abstract

This article departs from the Freidrich W. Nietzsche's issue on misunderstanding of God. He ‎thought that God was the product of poets (human engineering results). Thus, disassembling the order of truth existing in modern era with his adagium “God Is Dead.” This provides a new discourse of thought, which ‎arises from an anti-God view i.e. “anti-Christ” and hatred of absolutism which result the ‎truth relativism. Nietzsche's ideas greatly influenced the mainstream of liberalist; among them are the students of State Islamic university of Indonesia who declare an ignorance expression of Islam is not only the true religion. More over their claim about the God-freezone institution when welcoming new students. It is surely inappropriate exclamation cames from Muslim students in the country with majority Muslim in the world. Their attitude is the result of a thought that has been affected with the thoughts of Friedrich Wilhm Nietzsche "God is death." This work attempts to elaborate Nietzsche’s influence toward those Muslim collegers as well as the basic thought of their acts. In order to achieve the purpose, the author does not forget to describe the concept of God in Nietzsche's view and its influence on liberal thinking.

Abstract

Diskursus tentang ahl al-bait merupakan salah satu ajaran pokok dalam agama Islam (al-‘aqi>dah al-Isla>miyyah), yaitu diwajibkan bagi umat Islam untuk mencintai keluarga Nabi Muhammad SAW dan dilarang untuk menghina mereka baik dengan perkataan maupun dengan perbuatan. Hal ini serasi dengan firman Allah dalam QS: al Ahzab 33:56, karena kecintaan terhadap keluarga Nabi Muhammad merupakan bukti kecintaan terhadap Nabi sendiri. Oleh karena itu, barang siapa yang membenci mereka (keluarga Nabi Muhammad) merupakan salah satu cabang kemunafikan. Dalam hal ini, ada persamaan dan perbedaan antara kaum Sunni dan Syi‘ah dalam memandang konsep ahl al-bait. Adapun persamaannya, kedua golongan ini bersepakat bahwa mencintai keluarga Nabi Muhammad SAW adalah suatu kewajiban, sedangkan dari segi perbedaan, kedua golongan ini berselisih dalam menetapkan anggota keluarga Nabi tersebut. Dari segi perbedaan ini, akan berimplikasi terhadap sumber-sumber ajaran Islam, penilaian, dan klasifikasi yang dirumuskan untuk melihat kualitas informasi-informasi di dalamnya. Karena dalam ajaran Syi‘ah, tidak menerima ajaran selain dari ahl al-bait. Kesimpulan dari tulisan ini adalah kecintaan dan penghormatan Sunni terhadap keluarga Nabi Muhammad lebih luas dari pada Syi‘ah, karena hanya membatasi 4 orang saja. Dengan kata lain, kaum Syi‘ah tidak mencintai dan menghormati keluarga Nabi Muhammad, bahkan Syi‘ah memfitnah as}h}a>b al-kisa’ dengan pernyataan yang tidak layak.

Abstract

Al-Asy’ariyyah is one of school of thought in Islam came from the hand of Abu Hasan al-Asy’ari. Asy’ari’s pattern of thought tried to harmonize of both ratio and text implicating the concept of universe as thing constituted from number of atom and accident. This concept had been criticized by several figures. However, al-Asy’ariyyah assert that Allah created something in the way of atom to show His power. In addition, they consistently contend by their ontological view that God’s will is the foundation of the regularity and harmony of this universe. This opinion is important to be known came in the middle of three large school of thought: school of Salafiyah initiated by Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal known by their highly textual method in the making of text as source and instrument to understand Islam; second, school of Islamic philosophy that comprehend aqidah based on ratio as the only source of knowledge; and third, school of Mu’tazilite combine between ratio and text while making ratio as a determinant if the text founded contradict with the rational truth. So al-Asy’ariyyah give a form to their thought dynamically with several features mentioned. According to al-As’ariyyah, the reality of body or thing consists of atom known as al-juz’u alladzi la yatajazza’. This theory is improved later by al-Asy’ariyyah in order to reduce the universe to regular subjectivities which led to God’s will that qadim thus encouraging human to put a faith God as only cause of everything exists. This paper will examine carefully the theory of atom in the view of al-Asy’ariyyah, also present a discussion about the divinity that happen between the mutakallims.

Abstract

This study attempts to critically explore Transpersonal Psychology views on the nature of spiritual experience. The exponents of this kind of psychology claimed their concept as an integration between science and religion as well as it was can be universally accepted by all religions. Since this study reveals religious issues especially religious experience that in Islam is often said to be a sufi experience, then the approach of this study is sufism. From this study we found that the Transpersonal Psychology view is really problematic both epistemologically and theologically. Epistemologically, their assumptions are a priory i.e. they are not purely and intensely resulted by scientific research, but based on the premise of perennial philosophy which recognizes the transcendent unity of religions. Theologically, their assumptions lead to the refutation of religious doctrine. It yields a contemplative spiritual practice that ignores religious teaching. As a result, the spiritual knowledge is more subjective i.e. based on human ego, which finally leads to spiritual narcissism. It is really different from the sufis, which base their spirituality on religion, and subjectively affirm their experience to syariah. Psychologically, the sufi who has reached a spiritual state, his soul was in an existential consciousness on the level of faqr, that is a feeling of indebtedness to Allah. It causes the totality of servitude to Allah, not narcissism.

Abstract

It seems like there is no end of the discussion of khilāfah (Caliphate). In Indonesia, recent ‎issues concerning khilāfah encompasses a claim that khilāfah rejects or in a confrontation ‎with Pancasila.  Pro and Contra ideas came out bringing several argumentation from ‎each sides, and it is clear that a detail discussion with valid analysis and authentic ‎evidences are truly demanded to argue, is system of khilāfah contrast with Pancasila or in ‎reverse? To answer such a question, this paper will explain concept of khilāfah from ‎perspective of Taqiyyudin al-Nabhani, one of Muslim figure defending khilāfah. His idea ‎and discourse has spread in various countries including Indonesia. The argumentations ‎consist in this paper are: the origin of concept of khilāfah, figur of chaliph, system of ‎Daulah Islamiyah, foreign and domestic political policy according to khilāfah, and an ‎effort to esablish khilāfah according to Taqiyyudin al-Nabhani. Moreover, this paper will ‎elaborate the similarities between khilāfah and Pancasila in their government system as ‎well. Through a discussion referring to Nabhani’s writing such as Nizam al-Islam, Nizam ‎al-Hukm fi al-Islam, al-Muwassa’ wa Munaqqah bi ‘abdil al-Qadim Zallum, al-Daulah al-‎Islamiyyah, and Al-Syakhsiyah al-Islamiyyah, it is concluded that khilāfah does not ‎contradict or confront Pancasila. From its historical aspect, the rising of khilāfah and ‎Pancasila utilizes a conformable principles such as prioritizing a principle of deliberation, ‎religious morality and spirituality, social justice and welfare.

Abstract

As one foothold to create perspective in understanding the growing phase in the politics of the Christian  West, is reviewing Inquisition. In fact it was an Institutional Church, in its trace of history incised dark history. Inquisition, is not excessive to say as a  real  symbol  of  the  violence  perpetrated  the  Christian  West  against  resistances  that emerged from society; Either from other faiths, as well as Christians who deemed to have been out the Church’s mainstream. However it should be noted, Inquisition has resulted an infiltration adapted to the field of Islamic Studies. Equipped with study of Western history,  emerged  perspective  that  seems  to  generalize  the  political  history  situation both of religion. This is certainly a fatal problematic, where the conceptual different of religions –in this case Islam and Christian- turned into something that was not respected. The identity of religions may not be generalized by one angle polemic. It is important to be held an identification problem exclusively to provide a clear solution indeed. Abstract

A thought to have an important role to someone. If true thinking it will affect a good understanding leads to attitudes and behavior. However, if the faulty thinking that very result in the destruction of the attitudes and behavior and may even lead to the destruction of one’s Islamic faith. For a Muslim, thinking of concepts related to faith must rely on the descriptions that have been described by Allah SWT and His Messenger and do not necessary diligence in achieving it as the judge actions in fiqh. Because the truth related to faith is not what will go in or unreasonable, scientific or unscientific. But the truth of faith is related to what are established Allah SWT and His Messenger, although not satisfying logic and can not sensed. Related to the above, this paper tries to explain an example of a false thought linked to al-Qur’an faith brought by a prominent modernist Islamic thinker, Nasr Hamid Abu Zaid. Because, to know the truth can sometimes be achieved after knowing a falsehood.

Abstract

This paper aims to determine polygamy in accordance with hadith (Prophetic ‎Tradition) where it is the second source functions as an explanation of the al-Qur’an. In ‎order to gain a more comprehensive argumentation of polygamy in hadith, researcher will ‎come through two approaches, both are linguistic and historical approach.  Based on ‎those approaches, this paper conclude that, first, polygamy during the time of Prophet ‎Muhammad was carried out solely to uphold Islam as a way of life and not in the case of ‎indulgence. Secondly, polygamy is prohibited by religion if it harms more than benefits so ‎that in order to maintain sadd al-Dzari>'ah, polygamy should not carried out. Third, ‎polygamy in hadith is allowed with the condition of justice to the wives and children ‎without any desire to seek additional income or done based on economic factors as ‎happened in the time of Arab ignorance (Jahiliyya). Thus polygamy is mentioned in ‎accordance with hadith gives a logical and systematic explanation for life and the survival ‎of a happy and prosperous family here and hereafter.‎

Abstract

This article will examine the thoughts of the caliph Harun al-Rasyid about the concept of Islamic education that he initiated. He succeeded in establishing the “Baitul Hikmah” library which became an icon in the golden age of Islam in the Abbasid Period. In fact, this library is a symbol of civilization and the center of Islamic world enlightenment for Western civilization. Interestingly, this library is also the center of translation and copying of ancient Greek, Persian and other intellectual legacies. This is evidence of the success of Harun al-Rasyid’s ideas in the world of Islamic education. This research uses descriptive analysis method to explain Harun al-Rasyid’s thoughts on Islamic education, then the content analysis method is used to find the basic ideas and concepts of development in the future. After conducting research, the authors conclude that the successful application of his thought to Islamic education cannot be separated from his great attention to science. Even with the advancement of science, the economy of the people at that time became advanced. This research is very important to be learned as through this research can discoverd a very brilliant thought of the great chaliph Harun al-Rasyid.

Abstract

Nafs merupakan salah satu konsep kunci dalam kajian filsafat metafisika. Selain sebagai substansi utama yang menggerakkan jasad manusia, nafs juga memiliki peran dalam proses berfikir dan memahami realitas yang darinya menghasilkan sebuah pengetahuan. Pengetahuan yang dihasilkan akan membentuk cara pandang seseorang menyikapi kehidupan. Dalam hal ini, Ibnu Sina adalah salah seorang filsuf muslim yang secara mendalam dan rinci menjelaskan hakikat nafs. Ia menjelaskan tentang potensi-potensi nafs (quwwah al-nafs) yang saling terikat satu dengan lainnya, dan nafs memiliki hubungan yang erat dengan jasad. Mengenai hubungan nafs dan jasad, Ibnu Sina mengatakan bahwa nafs tidak akan pernah mencapai tahap fenomenal tanpa adanya jasad. Begitu tahapan ini dicapai ia menjadi sumber hidup, pengatur, dan potensi jasad. Ia mengemukakan beberapa argumentasi ilmiah mengenai keberadaan nafs, yang salah satunya tentang manusia terbang yang menginspirasi sarjana Barat menciptakan teori manusia super. Selain itu ia juga menjelaskan tentang keabadian nafs yang bersifat kekal dengan disertai beberapa argumentasi logis yang membuktikan kekekalannya. Dari pandangannya tersebut ia menyimpulkan bahwa kekekalan nafs bukanlah kekekalan yang hakiki sebagaimana keabadian dan kekekalan Allah. Penjelasan Ibnu Sina tentang nafs cukup komprehensif, sekalipun ada beberapa kesamaan dengan teori jiwa filsuf Yunani seperti Aristotle. Namun pandangannya tentang nafs secara umum sudah diadapsi dengan pandangan hidup Islam.
