Abstract

Forest management in Indonesia continues to face deforestation, degradation, tenure conflicts, and centralized governance that insufficiently reflects the socio-ecological characteristics of indigenous communities. This study aims to identify forest management principles embedded in local wisdom systems and examine their potential as an integrative model for community-based forest management. A qualitative literature review was conducted by synthesizing studies on local wisdom, Community-Based Forest Management, and adaptive co-management. The findings show that Tanah Ulayat, Rimbo Larangan, Tane’ Ulen, Sasi, Leuweung Larangan, and Awig-awig, despite emerging from different cultural contexts, share similar principles: territorial recognition, regulated resource use, customary institutional strengthening, social monitoring, and community participation. The synthesis produces an integrative model linking indigenous rights, traditional ecological knowledge, local institutions, and state regulatory support. This model offers a conceptual basis for adaptive, participatory, contextual, and sustainable forest governance, while requiring further empirical testing across Indonesia’s diverse socio-ecological landscapes and varied policy implementation settings.

Abstract

The Mandalika Special Economic Zone (KEK) was developed to accelerate equitable development in the region and its surrounding areas as a buffer zone. This study aims to identify cropping patterns and crop types, analyze the income structure of farming households in the buffer zone of the Mandalika KEK, Central Lombok Regency. The study used a descriptive method with the unit of analysis being farmer households. The research locations were determined purposively in Sengkol, Rembitan, and Sukadana Villages based on their dryland farming potential. A total of 45 respondents were selected using quota sampling. Data were analyzed using cost and income analysis and descriptive analysis. The results showed that farming households diversified their economic activities, with a combination of farmers and livestock breeders as the dominant productive activity (35.56%). The cropping pattern consisted of food crops in the first planting season and secondary crops, especially corn and soybeans, in the second planting season. The average household income was Rp29,059,273.03 per year, with agricultural activities contributing 60.33%, non-agricultural activities 36.80%, and other sources 2.87%. The main constraints on farming include scarcity of production inputs, particularly fertilizer, low intensity of extension services, limited capital, and pest and disease attacks. Findings indicate that agriculture remains the primary source of income for farming households, so strengthening access to production inputs, extension services, and capital is necessary to support the sustainability of dryland farming in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone buffer zone.

Abstract

Fiscal accountability is a fundamental pillar of good governance, as it is closely associated with transparency, efficiency, and responsible management of public resources. In the Indonesian context, the Purbaya Effect has emerged as a new analytical construct emphasizing fiscal consistency, prudence, and budgetary discipline, aligning with the principle of orderly public budgeting that requires procedural compliance throughout the budgeting cycle. This study aims to examine fiscal accountability through an integrative framework combining Agency Theory and Stewardship Theory. Agency Theory highlights the role of control mechanisms, incentives, and monitoring to address information asymmetry and moral hazard, whereas Stewardship Theory emphasizes trust, integrity, and the moral commitment of public actors. Using a literature review method, this study synthesizes academic literature, fiscal regulations, and relevant empirical findings to develop a comprehensive conceptual framework of fiscal accountability. The results indicate that the integration of formal control mechanisms and intrinsic, public-value-driven motivation leads to more effective, transparent, and sustainable fiscal governance. The study contributes theoretically by enriching public sector governance literature and practically by offering policy recommendations for balancing regulation, oversight, trust, and bureaucratic ethics in fiscal management.

Abstract

Schools in disaster-prone areas require an integrated approach to address climate change and geophysical hazards. This study aimed to develop, validate, and assess the initial effectiveness of the Adaptive Climate Smart School–School Resilience model (CSS-SR) in strengthening the school community's adaptive capacity. A Research and Development design was applied using a modified ADDIE procedure and a sequential exploratory mixed-methods strategy. The needs assessment involved eight informants, while the effectiveness test included 60 school members, comprising 42 students and 18 teachers/staff, together with expert and practitioner validators. Findings revealed the absence of a formal climate program, unsystematic adaptive-capacity practices, and outdated preparedness facilities, despite strong school social capital. The developed context-sensitive model comprised five dimensions and eleven operational components. It was rated highly valid by the content expert (86.67%) and media experts (88.33%), and highly practical by practitioners (87.78%) and users (85.56%). Wilcoxon tests indicated significant short-term improvements across all instruments (p<0.001; r=0.749–0.870). The model demonstrated initial effectiveness; however, the findings should be interpreted cautiously because of ceiling effects and the absence of a comparison group.
