Abstract

Gayo coffee has many benefits in terms of the environment, economy, and socio-cultural aspects, especially for the Gayo tribe. Recently, Gayo coffee has been the main commodity for the plant cultivation of the Gayo tribe, including the Mude Nosar as local farmers. One of the ways to cultivate Gayo coffee is through an agroforestry system. However, limited reports on the tree species composition and its management in Gayo coffee-based agroforestry needs to be explored. This study aims i) to identify the tree species composition and structure, as well as 2) to analyze the management of Gayo coffee-based agroforestry system in Mude Nosar Village. The study method used plot establishment for vegetation analysis, and interviewed the Gayo coffee farmers. The results showed that the number of tree species at all growth stages was 26 species. The highest Important Value Index (IVI) at the understory and sapling level in order was rumput kerbau (Paspalum conjugatum) and Gayo coffee (Coffea arabica), while at the seedling, pole, and tree levels were dominated by lamtoro (Leucaena leucocephala). The local farmers often use lamtoro as a shade tree for Gayo coffee in agroforestry system. The species diversity index (H') showed low values at all growth levels, except for understory plants with moderate values. The horizontal structure of the tree stand showed an inverted J curve, meaning that the regeneration rate is normal. The vertical structure of the tree stand belongs to strata C and D. The local farmers have applied good Gayo coffee management practices through an agroforestry system including land and seed preparation, planting, maintenance, and harvesting techniques. Coffee seeds and seedlings are from natural regeneration. Plant maintenance techniques are carried out by weeding, pruning, organic fertilization, and controlling pests and diseases. The harvest coffee season is generally twice a year. The management of Gayo coffee using an agroforestry system impacts the ecological, economic, and social aspects.

Abstract

Flood is number one Indonesian natural disaster in the last 10 years and its occurrence at Manokwari is frequently reported. Biophysical condition is playing a key role in carrying capacity of this catchment area.This study is to determine biophysical characteristics of Wosi Watershed to manage and mitigate flooding in Manokwari. Spatial analysis and field observation methods were used to collect the data. Biophysical variables are rainfall, watershed morphometric, slope, and land used. Carrying capacity is measured using flow regime coefficient and annual flow coefficient. The results showed that the heavy rainfall (> 100 mm) throughout the ten years with 10.5 wet months at average resulting very wet tropical climate. This watershed has an area of 2,346.32 ha, its circumference of 29.95 km2 with river length of 8.38 km resulting 0.33 (triangle) and 1.027 (triangle) for Rc and Re, respectively. This morphometry is rectangular and slightly oval(triangular) formed of four rivers with drainage pattern of dendritic, which resembles the shape of a tree branch/twig. Steep slopes are dominant (58.5%), with non-forest area (62%) of the flat and steep slope for settlement (698 ha), and flat slope for mixed dry farming (707 ha). From 2016-2020, river water flow changes rapidly from low to very high to generate flooding, but the carrying capacity is sometime changeable from good to bad. Water drainage, retaining walls, replantation, early warning system, and flooding leaflets mitigation campaign, are structural and non-structural mitigation could be parallelly conducted to manage and mitigate the flooding risks in future.

Abstract

This article discusses the environmental assessment caused by the commercial use of groundwater by the community as landowners. In the future, this practice must receive direction and responsibility from the government as policymakers to prevent and repair environmental damage, especially habitat damage and species in strengthening the principle of "paying for commercial groundwater" with the REA methodology to assess and compensate for environmental damage. This method, developed by the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), uses the scale of remediation required to compensate for past, current and future damage. The compensation approaches are the services approach (or the resources approach) and the valuation approach (the value-to-value and value-to-cost approach). The results show that the change in residential land is 0.16%, or 25 ha. The total area of changed settlement/land built up has decreased the function of land which was originally secondary/logged-over dry land forest to become settlement/land built up. Furthermore, there was a decrease in secondary/logged-over dry land forest to open field of 0.03% or 3.1 ha, so that the total area of secondary/logged-over dry land forest decreased by 0.19% or 28.1 ha.

Abstract

Pulau Sulawesi merupakan pusat wilayah Wallacea yang memiliki keanekaragaman hayati tinggi dan dihuni oleh beberapa spesies tumbuhan dan hewan endemik baik flora maupun fauna, salah satunya satwa primata monyet dare (Macaca maura HR Schinz 1825). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesesuaian habitat dan pengaruh variabel lingkungan terhadap habitat monyet dare di kawasan Taman Nasional Bantimurung Bulusaraung. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan membangun model pendekatan distribusi spesies menggunakan Maxent ver. 3.4.4. yang dapat membantu melakukan analisis model kesesuaian habitat dalam skala luas dengan cara mengolah data kehadiran spesies dan variabel lingkungan yang diduga memengaruhi kehadiran spesies. Hasil pengolahan data dalam membangun model kesesuaian habitat untuk monyet dare, didapatkan data kehadiran spesies sebanyak 191 titik. Sedangkan variabel lingkungan yang digunakan berupa tutupan lahan, ketinggian, kelerengan, suhu, jarak dari sungai, jarak dari jalan, dan jarak dari areal pertanian. Hasil analisis jackknife pada variabel yang berpengaruh terhadap hasil model menunjukkan bahwa variabel yang berkontribusi tinggi adalah variabel tutupan lahan (Bio_5) kemudian diikuti, jarak dari jalan (Bio_1), jarak dari areal pertanian (Bio_4) dan jarak dari sungai (Bio_2). Besaran persentase kontribusi variabel lingkungan terhadap keberadaan monyet dare yakni tutupan lahan (35,1%), jarak dari jalan (32,2%), jarak dari areal pertanian (13,1%), jarak dari sungai (12,1%), kelerengan (3,6%), ketinggian (2,6%) dan suhu (1,3%). Nilai AUC model kesesuaian habitat monyet dare sebesar 0,893 dengan standar deviasi ±0,015, merupakan model prediksi yang layak (reasonable predictions) dengan luas areal habitat yang sesuai 138,43 km2 (20%) dan yang tidak sesuai 538,44 km2 (80%). Luas areal habitat yang sesuai terbagi atas 3 yakni kelas kesesuaian rendah 90,11 km2 (65%), kelas kesesuaian sedang 25,58 km2 (18%) dan kelas kesesuaian tinggi 22,74 km2 (16%). Rendahnya luas areal habitat yang sesuai dibanding habitat yang tidak sesuai, serta besarnya luas areal kesesuaian rendah dibanding sedang dan tinggi, dapat menggambarkan bahwa ancaman dari keberadaan monyet dare masih tergolong tinggi.

Abstract

Sun bear (Helarctos malayanus) and sumatran elephant (Elephas maximus sumatranus) are two species with high population decline due to poaching and illegal wildlife trade. It is still difficult to enforce laws related to hunting and wildlife trade due to legal standardization that can be used as an economic basis for lawsuits. One method of quantifying the economic value of animals can be done through an economic valuation process. This study aims to examine the economic value of sun bears and sumatran elephants based on a maintenance cost approach. The research was conducted at the conservation institutions of Medan Zoo, Siantar Zoo, and PPS Tashikoki from February – May 2021. The method used in the study was to manage conservation institutions to obtain the amount of cost allocation for animal care that refers to the five principles of animal welfare. The results showed that the sun bear's economic value based on its maintenance cost for 2 years reached Rp. 76,760,000 and for the sumatran elephant, it reached Rp. 621,730,000. The highest maintenance cost allocation for these two species is in the feed allocation. This high economic value indicates a disproportionate amount of fines given to the perpetrators of hunting and illegal wildlife trade, which has implications for weak legal products and does not cause a deterrent effect.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to map how green awareness of female consumers on environmentally friendly products. The green product category can be seen from three indicators, namely; the usefulness of products for the environment, product expectations by consumer desires, and the use of raw materials that do not pollute the environment. Green products include a variety of products, ranging from food, beverages, garments/fashion, to household appliances. The research was conducted using quantitative methods in the form of quantitative surveys to map green consumers and female consumers about their decisions on environmentally friendly products. Based on the results of the quantitative descriptive analysis of the four main indicators of the green awareness variable, it is showing good results. Female consumers are interested in environmental issues and show their concern for the environment.

Abstract

The calculation of the carrying capacity of urban settlements is intended to determine the availability and status of environmental aspects that are utilized by the community. This study aims to examine the availability of environmental support aspects in Jebres District, Surakarta City through the das sein and das sollen approaches. The results of this study indicate that the availability of settlements and supporting aspects in the Jebres District are still able to support the demand for housing in 2018 and projections until 2055. Analysis through the expectation approach (das sein) for 100% decent settlements and the quality of the supporting aspects capable has not been fully realized concretely (das sollen). The availability of green open space (RTH) in Jebres District also does not meet the standards set by the government (30%) where the total area of ​​green open space in Jebres District is 23% of the total. The results of this study are related to the 3rd, 4th and 11th environmental principles. Keywords: carrying capacity, das sein-das sollen, environmental principles, green open space, settlements.

Abstract

Environmental problems and their solutions must be introduced to students from an early age through Environmental Education (PLH). One of PLH’s implementations is the Adiwiyata Program. The success of the Adiwiyata Program can be measured by examining differences in knowledge, positive attitudes, and positive behavior towards environmental problems and solutions. This study aimed to analyze quantitatively and qualitatively differences in knowledge, positive attitudes and positive behavior regarding the environment in school that has participated and that who has not participated in the Adiwiyata Program. Data were analyzed using a Likert scale with three categories: 1) good, 2) quite good, and 3) not good. Mann-Whitney U Test analysis was conducted to test the significance of the difference between the two groups of respondents. There was a difference in knowledge, attitudes, behavior and PLH scores in school that has participated in the Adiwiyata Program and that who has not. There was also a difference in student knowledge but not significant between schools participating in the Adiwiyata Program and not participating in the program. Students who participated in the Adiwiyata Program had better PLH scores than those who did not follow the Adiwiyata program

Abstract

Genus Panulirus menjadi salah satu komoditas perikanan penting bagi Province Aceh. Dalam rangka keberlanjutan sumberdaya ini, perlu penerapan regulasi dengan baik. Tujuan kegiatan permagangan adalah untuk mengetahui jenis, jumlah dan asal daerah tangkap lobster yang dilalulintaskan melalui Stasiun Karantina Ikan Pengendalian Mutu dan Keamanan Hasil Perikanan Aceh. Kegiatan dilakukan pada bulan Februari hingga April 2022. Metode yang digunakan adalah dengan observasi kegiatan, dan pendataan jenis lobster yang dilalulintaskan. Terdapat 6 jenis lobster yang dilalulintaskan di Stasiun Karantina Ikan Pengendalian Mutu dan Keamanan Hasil Perikanan Aceh meliputi; Panulirus homarus, Panulirus ornatus, Panulirus penicillatus, Panulirus polyphagus, Panulirus longipes dan Panulirus versicolor. Setiap bulannya stasiun karantina melakukan pemeriksaan sebelum pengiriman rata-rata berjumlah 1929 individu per bulan. Jenis Panulirus versicolor merupakan jenis dengan dengan persentase tertinggi (34%) yang dikirimkan melalui. Asal penangkapan lobster terdiri dari 8 daerah yaitu Pulau Banyak (Aceh Singkil), Pulau Simeulue, Labuan Haji (Aceh Selatan), Meulaboh (Aceh Barat), Calang dan Lamno (Aceh Jaya), Banda Aceh dan Pulau Sabang.

Abstract

Kesejahteraan masyarakat desa penyangga merupakan faktor yang mempengaruhi kelestarian Taman Nasional Gunung Ciremai (TNGC). Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah pemberdayaan masyarakat dengan mengembangkan dan mengelola wisata alam melalui pola kemitraan. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan penelitian di desa penyangga yaitu Desa Cisantana dengan tujuan; mengkaji potensi pengembangan Objek dan Daya Tarik Wisata Alam (ODTWA), mengidentifikasi tingkat pengaruh dan kepentingan pemangku kepentingan, menganalisis manfaat dan tren pengembangan wisata alam, serta strategi pengembangan dan pengelolaan ODTWA. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara, observasi, dan penelusuran kepustakaan. Analisis yang digunakan; ADO ODTWA (Analisi Daerah Operasional-Objek Daya Tarik Wisata Alam), Analisis Tingkat Pengaruh dan Kepentingan Stakeholder, dan Analisis Deskriptif Kualitatif. ODTWA bumi perkemahan Palutungan layak untuk dikembangkan. Balai TNGC dan Koperasi Alam Citra Mandiri adalah pemain kunci. Program kemitraan memberikan manfaat sosial ekonomi bagi masyarakat Desa Cisantana. Strategi pengembangan dan pengelolaan ODTWA dapat mengadopsi Model Pentahelix, yang mendorong penguatan kolaborasi pariwisata melalui optimalisasi peran BGCAM. Keterlibatan pihak swasta dalam pengembangan produk wisata di ODTWA diperlukan tetapi harus didominasi oleh masyarakat lokal.
