Abstract

Bullying occurs frequently in educational and school environments, workplaces, homes, and playgrounds. North Sulawesi Province has a higher bullying rate than the national average, at 27.83 percent versus 26.80 percent. Bullying occurs more frequently among Grade 5 elementary school students than in middle and high school. The study seeks to identify the factors that contribute to bullying among the alpha generation in Manado, North Sulawesi Province. The qualitative research technique focuses on two elementary schools in Manado: Advent Tikala Elementary School for private elementary schools and SDN 06 state elementary schools. Data collection began with focus group discussions with children and their parents, followed by interviews with stakeholders such as teachers, school principals, childcare NGOs, universities, regional government (province, Manado city), and the media. Observations on behaviours that lead to bullying. Data about bullying in school has been documented. The data were analysed descriptively. Research on the variables that produce bullying, beginning with the family, has revealed parenting patterns, a lack of parental attention, verbal and nonverbal pressure, and kid copying. Both peers and children choose the wrong friends, engage in harmful behaviour, and establish gangs. Third, media (inappropriate use of gadgets, premature introduction of gadgets, and lack of parental control). The fourth culture involves calling their parents' names. The five schools have not implemented character education optimally, and educators have not improved their bullying prevention practices. The six internal/character characteristics are as follows: children with temperamental, envious, jealous, and spiteful personalities are more likely to be perpetrators, while quiet youngsters dislike socializing, and less bright children are the victims. Recommendations necessitate efforts with parents.

Abstract

A research team at SMP Negeri 17 Medan began observing the desire of ninth-grade students to learn using the Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) method. Students from classes IX-A and IX-B, representing a total population of 25, with 8 samples taken from each class, were selected as the sample for this quantitative research study, which employed a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Tests were used as the instrument in this investigation. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. The ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 17 Medan demonstrated a significant increase in their enthusiasm for learning after receiving Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). This is evidenced by the fact that the average learning motivation scores increased after the implementation of the REBT method. Furthermore, the hypothesis test results reinforced these findings by showing that the experimental group had a much higher level of learning motivation compared to the two control groups. Therefore, it is safe to say that REBT was effective. It made students more motivated to learn, more confident, more enthusiastic about tackling difficult tasks, and ultimately more resilient. This indicates that the REBT approach could be a potentially effective strategy for improving the quality of learning and academic achievement of students in the school environment.

Abstract

MSMEs have become the backbone of Indonesia economy and promote inclusive economic development. However, Indonesia MSMEs’ participation in global value chain (GVC) is still limited. The development of digital economy in Indonesia might benefit MSMEs to access resources and inputs, expand to larger market, not only domestic market, but also international market. Digital transformation in economy supports their performance, i.e., increase in market share, business innovation, and more efficient business operation. Digital economy might offer opportunities for MSMEs to become parts of GVC. Since Indonesia experienced rapid development in digital economy, in which more MSMEs utilize digital technologies, such as internet and digital platform, this study aims to observe whether MSMEs digital and technology adoption will increase their probability to participate in global value chain. Therefore, this study aims to observe whether MSMEs digital and technology adoption will increase their probability to participate in GVC. This study uses non-linear probability model (NPM) is to analyze firm-level microdata from Indonesia micro and small manufacturing firms, a survey dataset from Indonesia Statistics (BPS). There are still limited studies particularly for Indonesia MSMEs participation in GVC and their digital adoption in Indonesia. By observing large dataset from firm-level data, the result of this paper provides comprehensive analysis and empirical evidence on how technology adoption for MSMEs relates to probability of MSMEs participation in GVC.

Abstract

Indonesia as a developing country is actively pursuing strategic policies to bring about change to become a more advanced country.  One of its main initiatives is to utilize abundant natural resources, especially through nickel concessions, with the aim of positioning Indonesia as a center for the electric vehicle industry.  However, the implementation of these policies often shows deviations in compliance with regulations, technical practices in the field, and aspects of humanitarian rights enshrined in the constitution. Although the goal is to minimize environmental damage, deviations in regulations and technical implementation often occur.  Achieving balance is critical, emphasizing environmental preservation and citizens' inherent right to life.  Effective execution requires the government to consistently comply with applicable laws and regulations in Indonesia.  In addition, strict supervision of private entities involved in nickel mining concessions on important lands is essential.  This monitoring ensures environmental sustainability and encourages the realization of sustainable development goals. The government's commitment to environmental protection must be in line with humanitarian principles, and not ignore the welfare of communities affected by nickel mining activities.  Achieving a harmonious balance between economic development and ecological conservation is paramount.  Therefore, the government must strengthen its regulatory framework, strengthening the legal basis that guides this strategic initiative. Indonesia's journey towards becoming a developed country depends on its ability to face the challenges posed by the nickel industry. Prioritizing environmental conservation and respecting citizens' rights are non-negotiable elements in this progress.  By enforcing and strengthening the regulatory framework, the government can not only ensure sustainable development but also encourage a responsible and ethical approach to utilizing the country's natural resources.
