Abstract

Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) is a byproduct of processing fresh palm fruitbunches into crude palm oil (CPO) which has negative externalities in theform of gas containing methane, carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases(GHG) which is very dangerous for environmental sustainability. The use ofpome as feedstocks for biogas power plants (PLTBg) changes the negativeexternalities of pome into positive externalities such as increasedelectrification in the area around the palm oil mill (PKS) and is good forenvironmental sustainability. PLTBg Suka Damai with a capacity of 2.4 Mwwas planned to reach the Commercial Operating Date (COD) in 2019, thefinancial calculation has a cost-benefit ratio of 1.19, percentage of InternalRate of Return (IRR) of 12.84%, percentage of weighted cost of capital(WACC) 10% and a Net Present Value (NPV) of Rp 21,275,609,209.00.Comprehending all the results, the first scenario with SCOC is the mostoptimized scenario for it provides far greater benefits to the community, fargreater than the financial revenue received by the PLTBg itself.

Abstract

India has recently become a hotspot of misinformation: the COVID-19 bringsa new opportunity for the rumor-spreaders. Of various categories, religiousmisinformation seems harmful for both Indian society and public health. Inthis paper, therefore, I tried to sketch a few necessary aspects of religiousmisinformation in India during the COVID-19. From the previous literatureand ongoing trend of Indian misinformation, I identified two importantphenomena: (a) Though Muslims produce more spiritual misinformation, most of the religious misinformation targeting Muslims is inspired byIslamophobia; (b) misinformation that tries to champion Hinduism is morerelated to the contemporary political ideologies of India. I also tried to explainhow religion as a political issue relates to public health

Education has an important role in creating excellent human resources forthe advancement of national development. However, in Indonesia, there arestill gaps in equal access to education. This study aims to evaluate theperformance efficiency of the education sector to provide recommendationsof which considered inefficient by using the Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA) method. This study measures the technical efficiency of primary andboth secondary schools (junior and senior high School) in 38 regencies/citiesin East Java Province for three academic years (2016-2019). The resultsshowed that technical inefficiency still occurs in the implementation ofeducation in East Java. In addition, peer groups and improvement targetswere obtained for the inefficient regencies/cities. The indicators that mostinfluence the efficiency value of the education sector in East Java are theEducation Fund Allocation as the input variable and the School ContinuingRate as the output variable. The scale efficiency analysis shows that most ofthe education sector in East Java operates in decreasing returns to scale.

Abstract

The industrial sector has an important role in the Indonesian economy. Theproblem facing the fertilizer industry is the price of gas as a raw material thattends to be expensive for the lower prices of crude oil since 2016. To overcomethis problem the government issued Presidential Regulation No. 40/2016 onsetting gas prices for the fertilizer industry but this regulation only sets floorgas prices at USD 6/MMBTU to secure revenues of gas producers.Meanwhile, the current sale gas contract for fertilizer applies an escalation. The objectives of this study are to evaluate the netback value of each fertilizerplant and assess the current gas price policy. The netback value is calculatedbased on the long-run marginal cost of urea production. The result shows thatPKT 04 and PKT 05, Pusri 1B, 2B, 3, and 4, PKC 1A and 1B, and PKG havelower netback value than gas price contract, except for PKT plant based onaverage has the highest netback value, because they use pricing mechanismthat linked to oil and product price. From this calculation the current gasprice policy needs to be adjusted to keep the fertilizer industry profitably.

Abstract

Dhengge dance embodies the description of fishermen's activities that have asense of beauty that is caused by movement and music produced by the mouth.Human life cannot be separated from signs, and signs always have a load ofmeaning. The symbols contained in this dance were analyzed qualitatively byPierce's semiotics. The costumes of the dancers are interpreted by thefishermen as having a firm attitude and a fighting spirit in facing life, steadfastand tough. Freedom, openness, simplicity, courage, manliness, and persistenceare among the cultural ethos of the Madurese people. The dance movementdepicts a trip to go to sea, search for fish to return to the beach, which meansthat life can be likened to running a boat into the middle of the ocean which attimes is hit by big waves and strong winds, the boat to lose control, losedirection and even sink. For that we need planning, hard work, togetherness, asense of brotherhood and require patience, confidence, persistence, andsurrender.
