Abstract

This article systematically reviews the influence of parental attention, social media, and religiosity on adolescent moral development. The digital era has reshaped adolescents’ patterns of interaction, significantly influencing their values, morality, and behavioral orientations. Drawing upon 45 empirical and conceptual studies published between 2015 and 2025 across psychology, education, sociology, and communication disciplines, the review synthesizes findings on the interplay of these three determinants. Results confirm that parental involvement is a critical predictor of moral stability, social media exerts ambivalent effects depending on content quality and parental mediation, and religiosity consistently functions as a protective factor strengthening moral resilience. The novelty of this study lies in its integrative perspective, combining three strands of literature often treated separately, and thus offering a more comprehensive ecological understanding of adolescent moral development in family, digital, and religious contexts. The review further emphasizes the need for collaborative approaches involving families, educational institutions, and religious communities to promote adolescent moral resilience in the digital age.

Abstract

This study investigates the correlation between emotional intelligence (EQ) and the ability to memorize the Qur’an among students of MTsS Dayah Insan Qur’ani Aceh Besar. The study addresses the lack of empirical research examining non-cognitive factors that influence Qur’anic memorization success in Islamic education. Using a correlational quantitative approach, data was collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation from 35 tahfidz students, representing 20% of the total population of 176 students. Based on the results of random sampling, the selected sample came from grades VIII and IX who were active in tahfidz and muroja'ah activities. Descriptive results show that students’ emotional intelligence and Qur’an memorization ability are generally in the moderate category. Reliability testing indicated high internal consistency (EQ scale α = 0.886; memorization scale α = 0.871). Pearson’s correlation analysis produced a strong positive relationship (r = 0.694, p < 0.01), indicating that students with higher EQ tend to achieve more extensive memorization. Practically speaking, the results of this study recommend that teachers in tahfidz learning integrate and strengthen the development of students' emotional aspects along with cognitive training so that the target of memorizing the Qur'an can be achieved optimally. This finding reinforces the understanding that emotional intelligence plays a significant role in the success of tahfidz-based Islamic education.

Abstract

Understanding of the subjects of Islamic religious education, especially the history of Islamic culture (HIC) and moral belief, plays an important role in the formation of students' morals in the school environment. This study aims to analyze the influence of students' understanding of the subjects of HIC and moral beliefs on their morals in SMA Muhammadiyah 5 Yogyakarta. The approach used is quantitative with correlational methods to test the relationship between variables using multiple linear regression analysis. The Data were obtained through the distribution of questionnaires and tests to Class XI students as research subjects, focusing on the level of understanding of the two subjects and their implications for everyday morals. The results of the analysis showed a positive and significant influence between the understanding of HIC and moral beliefs on student behavior, either partially or simultaneously, this is evidenced by the value of F count of 44.038, which is greater than F table (4.01). The higher the level of students' understanding of HIC materials and moral beliefs, the better the morals reflected in their lives, both in the school environment and outside the school. This finding shows the importance of strengthening HIC learning and moral belief in an integrated manner in improving the moral quality and character of students in Islamic-based secondary schools.

Abstract

Lecturer performance is strongly influenced by higher education financing, including salaries, allowances, professional training, and research support, which together affect motivation, productivity, and the implementation of the university’s tridharma: teaching, research, and community service. Yet prior studies have not fully examined how implementing higher education financing standards affects lecturer performance in private Islamic higher education institutions, particularly through a mixed-methods, multisite approach. This study analyzes the effect of higher education financing standards on lecturer performance in this context. Using a mixed-methods explanatory sequential design, quantitative data were collected from 95 lecturers via structured questionnaires and analyzed with Smart PLS 4.1 to assess structural relationships. Qualitative data were then gathered through in-depth interviews, document reviews, and observations, and analyzed using a three-stage multisite analysis to contextualize the quantitative findings. Results show that higher education financing significantly and positively influences lecturer performance, explaining 26% of the variance (T = 6.035; p = 0.000; R² = 0.260). Lecturers receive monthly salaries, structural allowances, and fully funded certification and training, while research, community service, publications, and seminar participation are supported in accordance with institutional capacity, with international-oriented activities fully funded. In conclusion, comprehensive and well-structured financing is crucial for enhancing lecturer performance, academic productivity, and institutional reputation, providing policymakers with evidence to design effective, equitable, and sustainable higher education financing policies

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe the Islamic education through parenting style in the Muslim family tradition of the Palembang Malay tribe. The research was conducted in the Palembang city. The citizens of the city of Palembang are known for their pious and devouted residents in fulfilling religious obligations. This can be seen by the bustling of Muslim citizens visiting the Grand Mosque for Friday prayers, during the holy month of Ramadan, and the relatively high interest of the Palembang Malay citizens to perform Haj since the 1980s. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. The sampling technique used is non-probability sampling with purposive sampling. Respondents in this study were some families whose parents’ jobs differ with each other. Meanwhile, the children varied from toddlers, teenagers to adults. Data was collected from in-depth interviews and observations while data analysis used interactive analysis which included 4 stages: data reduction, data presentation, data interpretation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study show that: (1) Islamic education implemented through parenting styles in Palembang Malay Muslim families is generally democratic, although there are still some authoritarian elements; and (2) the Islamic values embedded in traditional parenting styles in Palembang Malay Muslim families can be viewed from two perspectives: method and content. From a method perspective, the parenting styles implemented include role models, habituation, and the administration of punishments and rewards. Meanwhile, from a content perspective, the internalized Islamic values include faith education, moral education, and social education. In faith education, parents focus on ensuring children are able to practice religious teachings, possess adequate religious knowledge, and demonstrate good religious attitudes. In moral education, children are guided to understand and apply commendable behavior (akhlaqul karimah) in their daily lives. Meanwhile, in social education, parents strive to instill empathy and a spirit of mutual assistance so that children are sensitive to their social environment.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and evaluate teaching materials for the Contemporary Qur'anic Teaching Methods course, using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The material was designed to address the lack of a primary reference resource for the course, aligning with the curriculum and competencies required for effective learning. Subject matter and media experts validated the content, confirming its academic rigor and visual appeal. The teaching material was trialed with students in both small-scale and large-scale settings, with positive feedback indicating high engagement and effectiveness in supporting student learning. The study found that the material successfully integrated contemporary pedagogical approaches with traditional Qur'anic teaching, enhancing both academic understanding and student engagement. Despite its success, the study highlighted areas for improvement, such as the incorporation of more multimedia elements and a larger, more diverse sample for future trials. The findings suggest that modernizing Qur'anic education through innovative teaching materials can significantly improve learning outcomes, offering a model for the development of similar resources in Islamic studies. This research contributes to the growing body of work aimed at integrating contemporary teaching methods into religious education and offers valuable insights for educators seeking to enhance their instructional practices in Qur'anic studies.

Abstract

Character refers to the fundamental traits inherent in every individual. In today’s generation, core character values, such as honesty, respectful communication, and discipline, are increasingly eroded. Therefore, efforts must be made to restore these values. Within the educational sphere, teachers bear significant responsibility, particularly Islamic Religious Education (IRE) teachers, in cultivating morally grounded and well-charactered students. This study investigates the influence of Islamic Religious Education on character building among seventh-grade students at SMP Alwashliyah 8 Medan. The objective is to examine how IRE contributes to students’ character development. Employing a quantitative associative research design, data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive and inferential techniques. The findings reveal: (1) Islamic Religious Education at SMP Alwashliyah 8 Medan is categorized as “good,” with a score of 82%, based on questionnaire responses from 62 participants; (2) students’ character building is rated “very good,” at 89%, based on the same sample; (3) there is a significant influence of IRE on character building, as evidenced by hypothesis testing with a significance value of 0.000 ≤ 0.05, indicating acceptance of Ha and rejection of H0. Furthermore, the effect size shows that IRE contributes 38.4% to character building, while the remaining 61.6% is influenced by other variables not examined in this study.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the comparative curriculum management models between Islamic educational institutions and public educational institutions within the context of the national education system in Indonesia. The main focus of this study is to identify the similarities, differences, strengths, and weaknesses of the two curriculum management models. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with literature review and observation of curriculum management practices in madrasas and public schools. The results show that both madrasas and public schools have curriculum management structures that follow national standards, but madrasas integrate Islamic religious values into all aspects of learning. Madrasas tend to emphasize the spiritual, moral, and character dimensions of Islam through a curriculum based on the integration of religious and general knowledge. Meanwhile, public schools focus more on mastering academic competencies and practical skills as stipulated in the independent curriculum policy. The strength of madrasah curriculum management lies in the development of strong morals and religious values, while its weakness is limited innovation in the application of technology and contextual learning. In contrast, public schools excel in implementing adaptive learning models and digitalization, but face challenges in strengthening students' spiritual character. This study confirms that synergy between curriculum management models in madrasas and public schools can be an ideal solution for creating a holistic curriculum, balancing religious values and academic competencies. Therefore, the results of this study are expected to serve as a reference for policymakers, educators, and curriculum developers in optimizing curriculum management that is relevant to the needs of the 21st century.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are: (1) to explain the concept and implementation of kitab turats learning in Sekarbela and Pesinggahan, Mataram City; and (2) to explain the contribution of kitab turats learning in Sekarbela and Pesinggahan, Mataram City, as a form of non-formal Islamic education in shaping the religious character of urban communities. This study employs a qualitative and multidisciplinary approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses Spradley’s ethnographic qualitative analysis model, in which data analysis is conducted directly in the field simultaneously with the data collection process. The analysis consists of domain analysis, taxonomic analysis, componential analysis, and thematic analysis. The results show that kitab turats learning in Sekarbela was initiated by TGH Muhammad Rais, while in Pesinggahan it was pioneered by TGH Mustofa Kamal. The implementation of kitab turats learning has been smooth and successful due to support from knowledgeable teachers, diligent students, comprehensive learning objectives, holistic learning materials, and varied methods, including thariqah ‘alaniyah, which focuses on the material–cognitive domain, and thariqah sirriyah, which encompasses spiritual–affective aspects. In addition, learning evaluation is integrative, combining cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains. Kitab turats learning in Sekarbela and Pesinggahan, Mataram City, makes a significant contribution to shaping the religious character of urban communities.
