Abstract

This study aims to describe the improvement of the quality of Al-Qur'an learning through the Ummi method at the Islamic Elementary School-Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) of Pesantren Anak Soleh (PAS) Baitul Qur'an, Gontor, Ponorogo. The study used a qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of interviews with the principal, the coordinator of the Koran reading, and the Al-Qur'an teacher, as well as observation and documentation of learning activities. Data analysis applied the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, verification, and conclusion. Data validity testing was carried out using credibility, dependability, transferability, and confirmability techniques. The results of the study showed that the improvement of the quality of Al-Qur'an learning through the Ummi method was influenced by three main factors: (1) implementation of the Ummi Foundation policy, including the active involvement of the principal in learning, providing motivation to teachers and students, and appointing an activity coordinator; (2) determination of the Al-Qur'an learning curriculum starting from Volume 1 to Volume 6, continued with tadarus up to Juz 5, tahfidz Juz 29 and 30, teaching gharib, tajwid, and turjuman; and (3) application of learning models, namely private learning with one teacher and one student, classical reading-listening learning with one teacher and twelve students, and pure classical reading-listening learning with one teacher and eight students. These findings confirm that the Ummi method can effectively improve the quality of Al-Qur'an learning in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

The idea of religious moderation has received a lot of attention from academics lately; in 2019, the Indonesian Ministry of Religion released a book bearing a similar title. But the concept of religious moderation has generated mixed responses; some even think that those who practice it are not truly practicing their religion or are not honest in their views. An organization called Campus Da'wah Association (LDK) aims to spread Islam and is almost always present in universities. With this broadcasting responsibility, LDK will probably realize this vision. On the other hand, LDK is more often associated with extremist organizations that have a more conservative understanding of Islam. For this reason, the purpose of this study is to discover what the activists at the Campus Da'wah Institute think about religious moderation. This research uses a case study design in conjunction with a qualitative technique. The research object is the general chairman and the chairman of the cadre division of the Campus Da'wah Association. After that, the researcher used documentation, observation, and interviews. The techniques offered by Miles and Huberman were used by researchers to analyze data. In addition to data validity regulations, researchers employed triangulation techniques. The outcomes of the study show how strongly LDK officials adhere to religious moderation. They are ready to help put the concept of religious moderation into practice both personally and professionally. Numerous attempts have been made to implement projects that align with this ideology. They regret it, though, when some disparage other groups that have different viewpoints and think theirs is the most rational and accurate.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the thoughts of Kiai Soleh Darat Al-Samarani regarding Islamic education, focusing on three main aspects: (1) the concept of education, including its goals, foundations, the roles of educators and students, and the curriculum; (2) the distinctive characteristics of Islamic education in Indonesia introduced by Kiai Soleh Darat; and (3) the relevance of this approach to Islamic education with a perspective on religious moderation. The research employs sociological, historical, and philosophical approaches, with primary data sources consisting of Kiai Soleh Darat's works such as “Al-Mursyid al-Wazīz fī ‘Ilmi al-Qur'ān al-‘Azīz” and “Majmū al-Syarī’at al-Kāfiyat lī al-‘Awām.” The findings indicate that Kiai Soleh Darat developed an inclusive and integrative approach to Islamic education, respecting local customs while emphasizing the importance of sincere intentions in seeking knowledge. Abstract

The preservation of Lampung and Baduy cultures within the framework of Islamic education literacy is a crucial effort to safeguard rich cultural heritage in alignment with Islamic values. Both communities possess unique and traditional cultures that reflect a strong worldview and faith rooted in Islam. This study aims to understand how the preservation of Lampung and Baduy cultures can become an integral part of Islamic education and how it can contribute to shaping Islamic character in younger generations. The research employs a descriptive-analytical approach, collecting data through literature review, field observation, and interviews with local community leaders. The findings indicate that preserving the cultures of Lampung and Baduy can be integrated into Islamic education literacy through several key aspects. First, Character Education: Cultural values such as interreligious harmony, honesty, and simplicity can be taught within the context of Islamic education to shape an Islamic character. Second, Environmental Awareness: The Baduy people, for instance, maintain a close relationship with nature. Concepts of sustainability and environmental appreciation can be included in Islamic teachings about human responsibility as stewards (Khalifah) of the Earth. Third, Social Values: Both communities emphasize cooperation, solidarity, and mutual assistance. These can be incorporated into Islamic education to teach social values like zakat and charity (sadaqah). Fourth, Respect for Ancestors: Both groups uphold traditions of honoring their ancestors. In Islamic education, respect for parents and elders aligns with teachings on filial piety and gratitude. Fifth, Local Arts and Culture: Local art forms, such as traditional dances and music, can be integrated into Islamic arts education that values beneficial and morally supportive artistic expressions. Preserving the cultures of Lampung and Baduy within Islamic education literacy is not only about maintaining traditions but also about nurturing a strong Islamic character in the younger generation. By combining these local cultural values with Islamic teachings, education becomes a powerful tool for both cultural preservation and the development of individuals grounded in Islamic principles.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the forms of collaboration between actors in tourism development through an analysis that integrates the principles of Islamic educational management, namely syura (consultation), ukhuwah (brotherhood), and tawazun (balance). Using a literature review approach, this research analyzes the roles of tourism development actors such as the Department of Tourism, Pokdarwis (Tourism Awareness Groups), the community, the DPR (House of Representatives), and businesspeople/investors. The key findings reveal that collaboration between actors faces various challenges, including conflicting interests and a lack of effective communication. The study also highlights how the principles of Islamic educational management can enhance the effectiveness of collaboration through more inclusive participation, more harmonious relationships, and a balance between economic development and the preservation of culture and the environment. The integration of these concepts is expected to create stronger and more sustainable synergy among tourism development actors. This research offers a new perspective that emphasizes the importance of moral and ethical approaches in development collaboration.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the role of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) in promoting Rahmatan Lil Aalamin values in Lampung society, which is diverse in terms of ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds. The concept of Rahmatan Lil Aalamin, which teaches Islam as a mercy to all nature without regard for ethnicity, religion, or race, is particularly relevant in a pluralistic society like Lampung. This study employs a qualitative approach, with data gathered through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies. The findings revealed that MUI actively engages in educating the public about the value of tolerance, justice, and unity through various educational programs, seminars, and social media. MUI also works with other religious organizations to improve understanding of religious moderation and Rahmatan Lil Aalamin principles. Although challenges such as radicalization and differences in religious understanding persist, Lampung's local wisdom, such as cooperation and deliberation, demonstrates the application of these values. Women play an important role in shaping the character of a tolerant generation. This study suggests that MUI should continue to strengthen inter-organizational cooperation and tap into the potential of local wisdom to create a more harmonious and inclusive society in Lampung.
