Abstract

The province of North Sumatra is facing a crucial problem in child trafficking for prostitution. The responses to overcome this problem is insignificant while the case of child trafficking has grown rapidly lately. Many parties gain benefit from this illegal business, on the contrast the children lost their future as becoming the victims of this problem. This study aims to understand the perception and responses to overcome this problem in the future. The result shows that child trafficking for prostitution is still considered a new phenomenon. It is not surprising that the actions taken by the government is still very general, such as policies and program for prostitution in general while the victims are under aged children. There is no specific policies aimed to child trafficking. At the end, this study recommends the importance of intensive and comprehensive coordination of all relevantr institution in solving the crucial problem.

Abstract

The study on the role of women in the community is always interesting to be carried out. This writing is a report on a study on the role of women in a migrant household focussing particularly on the work allocation of husband and wife in the transmigration area. The assumption which suggested that when the housewife has to work outside the transmigration settlement, and that the husband (who works in the transmigration settlement) then should take over all the domestic chores, has proved to be different from reality. Almost all of the household chores still remain to be performed by the women. This shows that women who work outside the transmigration settlement have to work extra harder and consume much more time in their activities. Even so, the domestic work allocation of a husband in their economic activities is larger than his wife. For this reason, both husband and wife of a migrant household have to perform a double role - although differently - in their capacity.

Abstract

This paper is about the process of election during democracy periode in Indonesia. The problem that usually accured during the election was the involvement of the elites in the process of election. Some elites, both from the political parties and from the village, usually interfering the process. The case in Gampeng shows that all elements have been working together in successing the process of election. Reflecting from the election process in Gampeng, the transition process towards more democratic government in Indonesia could be happen inpeace and harmony if there was honesty inside the political elites. They should more appreciate the voice from the people they were represented, instead of fighting for their own needs.

Abstract

Sexuality is closely related to thefamily resistance, and the safe sexual behavior is considered as a characteristic of faithfulness. However, it seems that the test of a husband's or a wife's faithfulness becomes heavier since the prostitution location can nearly be found everywhere. Sexual freedom in the youth's circle is a sign that such a location will not easily disappear in the earth, because thefreedom becomes one of the prostitution causes.

Abstract

There is a disparity in welfare between the people who dwell in mountanous areas and those living in plains, coastalal areas which is due to the difference in accessibility. Coastal regions, develop fast and generally have higher economic and social well-being because of the better accessibility they are bestowed with. However, in general, the people of Papua enjoy lower welfare than they are capable of enjoying in relation to the natural resopurces the province has. The abundant natural resources in the province have not been exploited to the full in endevor to improve the well being of the popuakltuion. The division of Papua province into West Papua, Central Papua, and East Papua is expected to accelerate the development process, which should in turn reduce income disparity. None theless, some redress must be found to the problem of uneven distribution of natural resources among the three provinces, to prevent the emergence of regional paracholiasm which may the source of income inequality among the three new provinces due to their different respective locations on the the coast, plains, and mountaneous region.
