Abstract

Yogyakarta Special Province has several attractive destinations for tourist. Bantul, Sleman, Kulon Progo, and Gunungkidul regencies have been developing many ways to attract tourists so they desire to come its regency own places. As long as we know, each regency has been working hard to promote and persuade tourists to visit some places that was offere But, in the fact, the result or the amount of tourists that visited each regency was different. Accroding data, the number of tourist who visit Sleman regency is more numerous than Gunungkidul regency. In 2010 for example, the number of tourist who visited Sleman regency reached 3,595,924. While Gunungkidul regency just reached 352 244 tourists at the same time. That why, this research was intended to find out the marketing communication strategies that conducted by Cultural and Tourist Department of Sleman and of Gunungkidul. At the least, this research was aimed to undertand how Sleman and Gunungkidul regencies developthe strategical marekting communication for increase and catch more tourist to visit Sleman and Gunungkidul. Data was obtained by interviews and observation as well as literatures analysis. And the result showed us that Cultural and Tourist Department of Gunungkidul was still not optimum doing marketing communication acitivites. It lack sufficient human resources who can develop creatively to attract tourists. While, Sleman regencies was more experience and could develop marketing communication more diverse.

Abstract

The study deals with three issues i..e how the mass media especially print in Indonesia represent political party in the period of 2007-2008 prior to the 2009 general election, what the public think of the performance of political party, and which sources the public acces to get information about political parties’ performance. The survey and in-depth interview are used in the study focuses in Solo Central Java. The study suggests that the mass media often represent political party negatively and the public tends to think the performance of politial party negatively as well. The public mostly get information on politics including political party from the mass media especially television and print media.

Abstract

In the last election 2004 event, there are many Indonesian celebrities who had become a public figure and they have been contesting in the political field. Indonesian women celebrities have been supporting many national political parties as vote getter. One of the greatest trends around the 2004 general election was the commoditization of popularity of Indonesian women celebrities. This paper examines the Indonesian women celebrities’ elected at the 2004 general election. First, it is pertinent to explain the political snap shot of Indonesian celebrity political trends in contemporary Indonesian democracy. Second, the paper explores how the political opportunity of Indonesian women celebrity to obtain legislative power in the House of Representative. Third, the paper explores the commoditization of popularity among the Indonesian women celebrity in the political field. Fourth, the paper explores the development of traditional entertainer, celebrity endorser, and celebrity politic in Indonesia. Fifth, the paper explores how the commoditization and political contestation among Indonesian celebrities in the post-journalism of mass media industries. Finally, it examines the development of popular cultures, political popularity, and political marketing strategy of Indonesian celebrity.

Abstract

Interethnic marriage means legal union of spouse from different ethnic group. It is a form of cultural background differences at interpersonal level (micro). Besides, starting their new marriage life, the couple must also adjust themselves respectively toward different cultural elements. The method of the research is interpretive-qualitative with symbolic interaction approach. Participants of the research were selected from those who have been through the process of cultural adjustment in interethnic marriage. Data was collected by deeply interviewing and observing 13 couples, Sundanese and non-Sundanese that have been married for more than 10 years and have children. Generally, the research shown that Sunda cultural and custom of couples’ ethnic identity difference formed a communication interethnic marriage patterns Sundanese and non Sundanese in Bandung. The results of the research were divided into three findings : firstly the communication patterns of interethnic marriage can be classified into; (1) dominant, (2) initiative, (3) combination, (4) adaptive, and (5) creative. Secondly, various pressures in the interethnic marriage life mainly caused by financial support for their extended family, different food appetite, life style and social comments. Thirdly, the interethnic couples can accommodate the differences in treating their children and interacting with their extended family.

Abstract

The success of Public Relations work in Private University depends on the public relations strategy in building the relationship with the media. For knowing how effective PR strategy is in building the relationship with the media, A research has been done with 10 respondents ( 10 Private Universities in Central Java ) by using descriptive qualitative approach and direct observation. There are two relationship models that have been found from this research, they are “ Imbalanced Commensalisms Relationship “ ( for PR’s relationship with the media institution ) and “ Harmonious Mutualism Relationship “ ( for PR’s relationship with the Journalist).

Abstract

Industrial era of mass media is signed by the change of the climate of information freedom, soon after the ruin of 'New Era'; mass media underwent a lot of changing. The most significant influence for mass media industrial change is the change of the format and contain of the political news. Through the Politicaltainment research, the researcher wants to examine how the political information does is served pragmatically. This research is being used setting agenda strategy to examine the main issues which are constructed by political compartment of Republika daily newspaper. Qualitative approach is used to examine the reflection of press work deeply through political compartment of Republika daily newspaper. The climate of the industry, actually, creates the format of the news as the part of the changing rate of rupiah value, takes place comodification practice of political news in this kind of situation. Basically, politic news is an effort to build powerful social realization and political knowledge. Keywords: comodification,agendasetting,politicalcompartment.

Abstract

It is very clear that communication axioms implied to theories of communication. A good theory usually gives the implication to the research methodology directly or indirectly. Through communication axioms, we understand that these formulations are generated from the discursive practices of community within the communication field conducted by the scholars. Here it is to say that each theory that was generated can not be separated from the historical perspectives. By giving the key foundation of communication axioms, this paper was meant to trigger many attempts in exploring communication in detail and more comprehensively.

Abstract

This study investigates the meaning construction of beauty among university students. Woman boy has turned into valuable commodity. Capital owners have taken advantages of this condition. Through media, they construct and define the new meaning of beauty. Instead of rejecting this situation, some women, especially adolescence, tend to follow what has been offered by the media and beauty industries and fall into what is called 'fetishism. Through symbolic interaction and social construction theories, this study attempted to analyse how university students construct the meaning of beauty and to what extent the fetishism had occurred. Abstract

The research was entitled: Analysis to the Impact of Abundant Circulation of Porn VCD (A descriptive Study among Adolescents in Sub-province of Banyumas). This research was backgrounded on the existing problem that circulation of porn VCD could not be blocked. This condition was supported by the progress of communication technologies, such as internet and sophisticated cellular phones. Method used in this research was a descriptive qualitative with purposive sampling technique. The informants consisted of children that became victims of sexual crimes, adolescents who committed sexual crimes, distributors, tradesmen of porn VCDs, Binamitra NGO and Head of Crimes Division of Polres Banyumas, Head of Sub-section Prosecuting Attorney and her staffs. Research result indicates that (1) looking on porn VCD became a choice that was refreshing; (2) many sexual crimes had been conducted by mature damage of the nation (3) the circulation of porn VCD gave contribution to morality damage of the nation (4) inconsistence of the regulation executions were caused by business factors (5) raid by the police was not intensive and (6) such crime sanctions were still on light conditions, therefore the sexual crime actors do not discourage as well.
