Abstract

The aim of this paper is to review steel as ballistic resistance plate (armor plate) from modern metallurgical science which has also been revealed in Holly Quran. Steel is one of the metal materials has been widely applied as ballistic resistant materials. A ballistic characteristic is the ability to put a halt projectile at very high velocity. Steel plate has been developed to improve armor material and was still the main choice as a material for armored fighting vehicle (AFV) construction. With the alloying of the steel and heat treatment process can improve hardness, strength, impact resistance and ballistic resistance. Alloying with elements of Nickel (Ni), chromium (Cr), molybdenum (Mo) and manganese (Mn) in the melting process may increase hardness. Heat treatment by quench can maximize hardening and tempering can improve the toughness. The addition of the element “copper (Cu)” by means of heating the steel as adam (boundary walls) are impassable and impenetrable have been demonstrated in Holly Quran Surah Al-Kahf verses 95-97. Keywords: ballistic resistance, alloying, heat treatment, Al-Kahf 95-97

Abstract

Conflict conditions in the Middle East would affect the many eyes of the world. All the world's eyes will turn to the areas that are relatively more stable for security affairs. Souteast Asia is relatively calmer than the Middle East today. ASEAN condition that is peaceful enough turns the world's attention onto it. Indonesia in ASEAN is the ultimate driving machine. One common enemy in the international community today is terrorism. Terrorists who brought the doctrine of radicalism admittedly still exist in Indonesia. Discussing radicalism today can be done by anyone of any circles. However, what makes it uncomfortable is when associating radicalism with Islamic boarding school/ Pesantren. Radicalism in the name of religion, in some cases, is done by some "former students" of Pesantren. But it does not then occur generalization that religious radicalism has always been associated with Pesantren. It’s very important to introduce the  Pesantren with all the character it has. Various activities of diplomacy, especially public diplomacy, can be used to bring pesantren. The main point is to explain to the world that Indonesia, which is predominantly Muslim, has pesantren as the main center of its teachings. The original Indonesian Pesantrens always preach peace. Public diplomacy is very appropriate to be used as a means gain the trust of the world. Keywords: World Trust, Pesantren, Public Diplomacy

Abstract

Retinoic acid is commonly used for bleaching facial in the whitening treatment. The concentration of retinoic acid in a topical preparation is 0.025 to 0.1% based on the cosmetics requirements so that it needs a validated determination method. The aims of this study were to validate the determination method of retinoic acid using HPLC and to apply the validated method on the whitening night cream. Determination of retinoic acid using a HPLC (Jasco PU-2080 plus) equipped with ultraviolet detector (2070 plus) at a wavelength of 340.3 nm. The stationary phase used C18 (12.5 cm x 4 mm) and the mobile phase used a mixture of methanol:water:glacial acetic acid (90:10:0.5, v/v/v), delivered with flow rate of 1.3 mL/min. The method was validated in parameter terms of precision, accuracy, linearity, sensitivity (LOD and LOQ) and selectivity. The applied samples were taken from beauty clinics in Semarang. The proposed method complied with the validity requirements. RSD value of precision test was 0.09%-0.37%, accuracy test resulted recovery value for sample A was 99.92%-100.78% and sample B was 99.44%-101.42%, good linearity with a correlation coefficient (r) = 0.9996, LOD and LOQ were 0.16 µg/mL and 0.54 µg/mL, respectively and the method had a good selectivity. Retinoic acid in sample A was 0.02% and sample B was 0.02%. The results showed that the concentration of retinoic acid in the samples were not excessive.
