Abstract

ABSTRACT The architectural development in architecture period tends to change along with the advance of the technology. Globalization a/so takes part in architectural development. Beside the advance of the technology, there are a lot of architects who brave enough to explore with kinds or architecture and it creates Maximalist Architecture. Etymologically, maximalist architecture can be described as science building or the art of building which is based on the unlimited property of objects. Between 1970-1980, architecture started to develop to many ways to the originality and individuality. It happened to come out from the simplicity, functionality and the international style. At that time, many architects had the same style and it lead to the tendency of not creating new sty/e. Yet, it changed. Therefore a lot of architects started to create new style, which later will be called post-modernism. In big cities in Indonesia, particularly in Java Island (Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya), there are tendency of the development of architecture luxurious private houses which belongs to different person, doesnt want to have the same style with the house besides it; supported by the advance of the material technology, so the style comes to Maximalist Architecture. Key words: maximalist architecture, houses. ABSTRAK Perkembangan bentuk arsitektural selalu berada dalam periode arsitektur yang cenderung selalu berubah, seiring dengan kemajuan teknologi. Arus globalisasi juga memberikan banyak pengaruh pada perkembangan arsitektur. Selain kemajuan teknologi dan semakin banyaknya arsitek yang berani bereksplorasi dengan bentuk-bentuk arsitektur, maka timbul gejala Arsitektur Maximalis. Secara etimologis, arsitektur maximalis dapat diartikan sebagai ilmu bangunan atau seni membangun yang berlandaskan pada sifat-sifat ketidak-terbatasan. Antara tahun 1970-1980, arsitektur mulai berkembang menjadi berbagai arah yang berbeda dalam mencari keaslian dan individualitasnya. Ini sebenarnya telah dimulai untuk memenuhi keinginan untuk keluar dari simplisitas, fungsionalitas dan dari gaya international style. Pada waktu itu, banyak arsitek yang menjurus pad a gaya arsitektur yang sarna, sehingga menjadi suatu kecenderungan untuk tidak menciptakan hal-hal yang baru lagi. Namun hal ini mulai berubah, sehingga banyak arsitek mulai memiliki pemikiran-pemikiran baru, yang nantinya akan disebut dengan post-modernism. Pada kota-kota besar di Indonesia, terutama di pulau Jawa (Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya), ada kecenderungan perkembangan bentuk-bentuk arsitektur bangunan rumah mewah mengarah pada sosok yang berbeda, tidak mau memiliki kesamaan bentuk dengan bangunan rumah di sebelahnya; didukung dengan kemajuan teknologi bahan yang demikian cepat, maka dijumpai bentuk-bentuk yang mengarah pada Arsitektur Maximalis. Kata kunci: arsitektur maximalist, rumah tinggal.

Abstract

Desa Jayapura yang berada di Kecamatan Cigalontang Kabupaten Tasikmalaya-Jawa Barat merupakan salah satu desa yang sering diguncang gempa, terutama peristiwa gempa terbesar tahun 2009 dengan kekuatan 6.8 SR berpotensi Tsunami. Akibat peristiwa tersebut, banyak menimbulkan kerusakan bangunan, terutama rumah penduduk yang hancur, seperti pada dinding dan atapnya.Peristiwa gempa tersebut menjadi latar belakang dan masalah dilakukannya penelitian tentang pengembangan model desain rumah ramah gempa yang lokasinya di Desa Jayapura Kec. Cigalontang Kab. Tasikmalaya-Jawa Barat atas dasar Inspirasi Arsitektur Tradisional Sunda.Metode penelitian yang dipakai adalah deskriptif kualitatif.Arsitektur lokal yang menjadi studi banding yaitu Kampung Naga, Dukuh, dan Kuta.Fokus penelitian ini bukan pad a kekuatan struktur, tetapi pada arsitektur yaitu bentuk rumah panggung yang dapat dikembangkan menjadi model rumah ramah gempa.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk rumah panggung dengan sistem kolong yang terdiri dari umpak, bilik, dan ijuk ternyata secara arsitektural dapat dikembangkan sebagai alternatif model desain rumah ramah gempa, karena tampilannya ringan dan elastis.Oisamping itu, bentuk atap yang unik seperti julang ngapak, badak heuay, jolopong, capit gunting, dan tagog anjing menambah bentuk rumah tersebut semakin indah. Abstract

The increasing growth of urban settlements often creates uncontrolled dispersion of slum area. As an approach to upgrade the slums, Central Government of Indonesia has launched Community Life Improvement Program for the Urban Poor which focussed on physical stimulants programs for slums and housing infrastructure development. Within the development process, the stimulants given were often misplaced and not fully accepted by the community because of the lack of public participation and the ignorance of social and cultural context. This research aims to identify the role of the social and cultural aspect that plays an important role on urban settlement development. It focuses on the identification of social cultural aspects on two locations (Tallo, Makassar, and Tamansari, Bandung) which have two different backgrounds based on its historical growth. This research based on qualitative approach and uses questionnaire, interview and field observation as data collecting instruments. The data will be compared based on the difference of community perception and value regarding to the actual development and social cultural aspects. The result will be formulated as determinant factors that need to be considered in developing urban settlement based on local social and cultural context

Abstract

ABSTRACT Since the olden days the culture of settling was realized as one of the important heritages handed down from generation to generation. In a society that firmly upheld their culture, such as Balinese, the settlement structure was determined by the cosmic system. It was concretized by the existence of the mountain as the orientation of a sacred space and the ocean as the orientation profane space. In Yogyakarla the settlement structure was determined by a persons life cycle that was described by South Ocean to Mount Merapi. One of the philosophies in determining a spatial structure was based on kinship system and sex. Atoni people arranged their settlement space based on kinship in which the spatial organization of was formed on the basis of gender or sexual difference. Atonis settling culture could be recognized by spatial symbolism that was strongly associated with sexual dichotomy. Each cardinal direction that was associated with only one sex was not always consistent because the head of the community was called "man-woman". He was indeed a real man but he also did womens jobs. A house was specifically placed with that particular direction that was directly linked to the holding of the ceremony of the building construction. This study explained about settling space construction that was based on the culture of A toni tribe. Keywords: spatial structure, culture, Atoni. ABSTRAK Sejak dahulu dapat disadari bahwa budaya bermukim adalah salah satu warisan penting yang diturunkan secara turun-temurun. Dalam masyarakat yang memegang teguh budaya, misalnya di Bali, struktur permukiman ditentukan oleh sistem kosmis yang diwujudkan melalui gunung sebagai orientasi ruang yang sakral, dan laut sebagai orientasi ruang yang profane Pada masyarakat Jogja, struktur permukiman ditentukan oleh sirklus hidup seseorang yang digambarkan melalui laut selatan hingga gunung Merapi. Salah satu filosofi dalam mementukan struktur ruang adalah sistem kekerabatan dan jenis kelamin. Masyarakat suku Aton; juga menata ruang permukiman berdasarkan hubungan kekerabatan, dimana organisasi ruang terbentuk atas dasar jenis kelamin. Budaya bermukim orang Atoni dapat dikenal dari simbolisme spasialnya, yang sangat terkait dengan diktonomi jenis kelamin. Setiap arah kardinal dikaitkan dengan satu jenis kelamin tidak selalu sejalan, karena kepala suku disebut npria-wanita" yang memang seorang pria, tetapi melakukan pekerjaan wanita. Rumah secara khusus diletakan dengan aturan arah khusus yang langsung dikaitkan dengan penyelenggaraan upacara dalam pend irian bangunan. Melaui kajian ini dapat dilihat adanya pembentukan ruang permukiman berbasis budaya Suku Atoni. Kata Kunci: struktur ruang, budaya, Atoni.

Abstract

The study on the influence of Yin Yang School of Thought to the architectural design of Chineses residence at Lasem aims to unravel the relationship between philosophy and the architectural buildings within the residential area. This study Is expected to provide benefits for the understanding of a design In Chinatown and to be a stimulus for further studies. The main problem is how to get the relationship between Yin Yang as one of the Chinese philosophical school of thoughts on one side and architectural design as the other side In Imposing an architectural product. The question Is whether there is a relationship between Yin Yang school of thought and architectural design of Chinese communitys residence at Lasem, Central Java, viewed from some architectural elements, namely: plan and structure. Holistic analysis was used in this study and it viewed an object In the frame of a cultural. It means that a Chineses object or architectural building as manifestation of cultural system, which consists of the concepts of Yin Yang, Chi and Wu Hslng. Further, this study covers three perspectives of philosophy, that is: philosophy as a science, philosophy as the way of thinking, and philosophy as the way of life, in the relation with architectural design of Chineses community in Lasem.

Abstract

The Chinese architecture in the Chinatown of Semarang need special attention because of the peculiarities inherent to the building. Gang Baru had chosen as the object of research based on the consideration that this area is the famous Chinese settlement as well as a Chinese traditional market. Along with the development of the area and globalization, indigenous or traditional settlements have started to be abandoned slowly by society. It also happens in settlements in the Gang Baru street. This study aims to show the original as well as the change of the architecture in Gang Baru in terms of spatial patterns and materials that are used. The method used is observation, interview, and literature study as material analysis. The result showed that the spatial pattern of three objects of Chinese houses have the same typology, in which each building extends to the rear and the ground floor in a two storye building is used for activities such as for trade and work space. While on the second floor is used for living. The house which used mostly for working space has experienced changing especially in the layout and function. Seiring dengan berkembangnya zaman dan globalisasi, permukiman asli atau tradisional mulai perlahan-lahan ditinggalkan oleh masyarakat. Hal ini juga terjadi pada permukiman di jalan Gang Baru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perubahan arsitektur bangunan di Gang Baru dari segi pola tata ruang dan material yang digunakan. Metode yang digunakan yaitu pengamatan, wawancara, dan melakukan studi literatur sebagai bahan analisis. Dari pengamatan yang telah dilakukan, ditemukan bahwa pola tata ruang tiga objek rumah tinggal memiliki tipologi yang sama, yaitu memanjang ke belakang dan merupakan bangunan dua lantai. Lantai satu digunakan untuk kegiatan di luar rumah tangga seperti berdagang dan ruang kerja. Sedangkan pada lantai dua digunakan untuk rumah tinggal. Abstract

Yogyakarta is the Indonesia’s province that has strong traditional tourism attractions. One of them is tourism villages. This study was taken place in Desa Wisata Bejiharjo, Kecamatan Karangmojo, Kabupaten Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta. The purpose of this study was to know the spatial change that has occured in Dusun Glaran I and Dusun Bulu as a result of the addition of new activities as tourism villages, and further to know the factors that has affected to the changes. This study used the qualitative rationalistic method with spatial and socio-cultural theory as the grand theory based on related theory. Data collection was done by observation and purposive sampling interview. Data analysis was done based on the variables formulated. In conclusion, the spatial space in Desa Bejiharjo has changed. The spatial space in Dusun Glaran I have changed because of the growing tourism activities which concentrated in certain area. As a result, the village patterns has changed and developed closer to the certain facilities. In the contrary, the spatial space in Dusun Bulu tend to be static because the lack of tourism activities. For ‘gotong royong’ aspect, it was found that in both villages, it has well established. However, if modernity and individualistic aspects began to affect Dusun Glaran I, the keguyuban’ aspect will begin to disappear

Abstract

The Settlement fishermen is as basic area that contain all the activities of the fishermen in daily life and economic. Moreover, regional development as the settlement Minneapolitan area is using the strategic steps in order to create prosperity of fishermen. Such as: (1) strengthening the local economy and fishery small-scale; (2) strengthening business Secondary Schools As well (UMA); and (3) development of maritime economy and the region, based on fisheries management system. Problems that need to be addressed in any settlement fishermen, is how seamlessly integrates all the potential to improve the economy and the community empowerment. The methods used in this research is using combination approach between rationalistic and naturalistic with the method of qualitative/quantitative exploration. For identifying characteristic coastal settlement in the region, the analysis using adaptation study of Ekistics method that is one of the way to learn more about the settlement scientifically. This research aims to develop the concept settlement Minneapolis, and its role in developing the region Minneapolitan. The process toward development concept settlement Minneapolis, needs to identify the characteristics settlement specifically. This research result can be known the community living characteristic, public life coastal village that has a very important roles in the developing of Minneapolitan region in Lamongan district

Abstract

Aceh Besar is a district which started the development of rumoh aceh architecture in Aceh Province. rumoh aceh has a building space pattern that consists of a ground level, space under the building, and upper space. The concept of building space pattern in rumoh aceh is unique. It introduces a triangular equilibrium of relations between men, God, and the environment. Non-physical factors affect the formation of spatial pattern building on rumoh aceh. The involvement of the Islamic concept affected indirectly the creation of rumoh Aceh’s spatial pattern. The purpose of this research is to find a non-physical factors which influence the bulding space pattern of rumoh aceh, as well as to find the ideas and knowledge of Rumoh aceh. However, the finding may not rule out the possibilities of further research which implements the concept of aceh rumoh space into a more modern residential space. This research used qualitative descriptive method which performs direct observation of the building space pattern formed, as well as finding the effect on non-phisical factors which are found in the observation area. The formation of the pattern also could be changed by considering the factors of kinship, customs, social, economic, and culture of the Acehnese.

Abstract

Symmetricity is part of the Javanese Cosmology that describes the perfection of Javanese. Symmetricity has been the main principle in Javanese house, not only in the façade of the house but olso the hierarchy of spatial inside. Kampung Bubutan is the ancient settlement experienced two phases of Government which strongly influenced the architectural character, which at the time became the Kingdom of Mataram (15th century) and the colonialism of the Netherlands (17th century up to the 19th century). The remains of the era of colonialism in Surabaya can still be felt by many colonial buildings surounding in the settlement. This study will explore how the principles of Javanese symmetricity in Kampung Bubutan colonial house, by using descriptive – qualitative methods. Can the Javanese symmetricity still become principal in colonial house and survive? The results shows that the symmetricity of fasade became decreased at the last peroide of 19th century, when the NA-Romantiek was popular. Spatial symmetricity at the colonial houses have inconsistancy since the beginning of 19th century until the early 20th century. The main hierarchy of the spatial Javanese House, which are pendopo (verandah), pringgitan (foyer), dalem (living room) and senthong (bedroom), have become inconsistence since the end of 19th century periode
