Abstract

This study aims to analyze the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in contemporary da’wah activities and to identify its opportunities, methodological transformations, and associated challenges. The research employs a qualitative approach using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method through the PRISMA procedure. The literature selection results indicate that 10 relevant scientific articles were reviewed in this study. The findings reveal that AI plays a significant role in enhancing the effectiveness of da’wah, particularly in expanding outreach, increasing interactivity, and enabling content personalization through technologies such as chatbots, digital applications, and social media platforms. Furthermore, AI drives a transformation in da’wah methods from conventional approaches to more adaptive and responsive digital practices. However, the study also identifies several challenges, including ethical issues, content validity, algorithmic bias, data security concerns, and the potential diminishing role of scholars (ulama) in guiding the community. Therefore, collaboration between preachers and technology developers, as well as strengthening digital literacy, is essential to ensure that AI utilization remains aligned with Islamic values.

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct a Community-Based Da’wa (CBD) model rooted in the phenomenological experience of practitioners of the Qadiriyya-Naqshbandiyya Sufi Order (TQN) at Pondok Pesantren Sirnarasa, Ciamis. The research employs Moustakas’s transcendental phenomenology with epoche reduction, horizonalization, thematic clustering, and textural-structural description. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with eleven purposively selected informants, six-month participatory observation across seven monthly gatherings, and documentary study, while validity was secured through source-method triangulation, member checking, and audit trail. The findings reveal four invariant structures: (1) dhikr jahr–khafi as a personal–collective transformative da’wa mechanism; (2) Madrasah Roudloh as cross-identity bridging-capital infrastructure; (3) semantic integration of Pancasila and Sufism constructing religious nationalism; and (4) a trajectory transforming the order from al-thariqah ila Allah toward al-thariqah ila al-ummah. The synthesis yields a three-component CBD model—spiritual foundation, ritual mediation, social engagement—that extends cultural da’wa theory by integrating Durkheim’s solidarity theory, Putnam’s social capital framework, and Collins’s interaction ritual chains. The study contributes a paradigmatic alternative for developing nationalist da’wa amid Indonesia’s contemporary multicultural polarization and has practical implications for revitalizing tarekat as strategic actors in strengthening social cohesion.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the moral da'wah message on the TikTok @basyasman00 account by focusing on three categories of morals, namely morality to Allah, morality towards fellow creatures, and morality towards the environment. This study uses a quantitative approach with Scott's content analysis method. The research data was in the form of 27 da'wah videos uploaded in the January-July 2022 period and analyzed through a coding sheet. The encoding process is carried out by three coder, while the inter-coder reliability is tested using Scott's Pi. The results of the reliability test showed a value of 0.52 which was in the moderate category. The findings of the study show that moral messages to Allah are the most dominant category with 11 videos or 41%, followed by moral messages towards fellow creatures as many as 10 videos or 37%, and moral messages towards the environment as many as 6 videos or 22%. These results show that moral da'wah on @basyasman00 account emphasizes strengthening human spiritual relationships with God, while social and ecological messages emerge as supporting themes. This research confirms that TikTok can be a space for the distribution of short video-based moral da'wah, but digital da'wah practices need to expand the balance of themes to include spiritual, social, and environmental dimensions in a more proportionate manner.

Abstract

This study examines how cyber risks and digital uncertainty shape preacher credibility, audience selectivity, and digital trust in social media based da'wah practices. Employing qualitative netnography and digital risk analysis, data from user comments, audience responses, and verification practices were analyzed thematically through risk society theory, communication systems theory, and ilmu dakwah, particularly tadbir da'wah. Findings indicate that digital da'wah operates as a networked discursive space in which the five constitutive elements of da'wah are structurally reconfigured by algorithmic mediation and fragmented authority. Digital trust functions as a complexity reducing mechanism sustaining communicative legitimacy amid informational uncertainty, while preacher and audience adaptation operationalizes tadbir da'wah management functions empirically. This study contributes to ilmu dakwah by repositioning cyber risk as an integral managerial dimension of digital preaching, proposing tabayyun as an epistemological principle for digital trust governance, and reimagining tadbir da'wah as credibility and symbolic legitimacy governance within networked da'wah ecosystems.

Abstract

Cultural da'wah has become an integral part of the history of da'wah development in Indonesia, including Anre Gurutta’ K.H. Muhammad As'ad, founder of the As'sadiyah Islamic Boarding School in Wajo, South Sulawesi. This study aims to analyze the patterns of religious authority of Anre Gurutta’ K.H. Muhammad As'ad and his role in cultural da'wah strategies that contributed to the spread of Islam in South Sulawesi. A descriptive qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach was used to analyze and narratively present all aspects related to the relevance of religious authority in the implementation of cultural da'wah in traditional Islamic boarding schools in South Sulawesi, based on observations and interviews with the relevant sources. The results of this study indicate that the religious authority of Anre Gurutta’ K.H. Muhammad As'ad was shaped by traditional, rational-legal, and charismatic authority, which contributed to the spread of pesantren-based cultural da'wah in South Sulawesi. The role of religious authority figures is expected to strengthen religious moderation through cultural da'wah in Indonesia.

Abstract

This article analyses the Hadrah as a form of cultural da‘wah in strengthening Malay-Islamic and Indonesian identity among the border communities of Temajuk (West Kalimantan) and Telok Melano (Sarawak). This study employs a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions, involving community leaders, religious figures, and members of Hadrah groups in Temajuk and Telok Melano. The findings reveal that Hadrah functions as a strategic medium for strengthening Malay-Islamic identity, social solidarity, and Indonesian nationalism in border communities. Through practices that include zikir, the recitation of the Barzanji, religious study sessions, regular practice, and cross-border performances in Telok Melano—Hadrah reinforces Malay-Islamic identity whilst simultaneously embodying symbols of Indonesian identity. This article emphasises that community-based cultural da’wah can serve as a vital strategy in maintaining social cohesion and national identity in the border regions. This study contributes to da'wah studies by demonstrating how cultural performance serves as a mechanism for identity construction and social cohesion in border societies.

Abstract

The digital transformation of Islamic public services has significantly reshaped marriage administration practices within the Offices of Religious Affairs (KUA) in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Marriage Management Information System (SIMKAH) at KUA Gandus, Palembang, and examine its role as a form of administrative da‘wah and digital Islamic governance. This research employed a qualitative case study approach using semi-structured interviews, documentation, and thematic analysis. The participants consisted of penghulu, SIMKAH operators, administrative staff, Islamic religious counselors, and prospective brides and grooms involved in SIMKAH-based marriage services. The findings reveal that SIMKAH has transformed conventional marriage administration into a more efficient, transparent, and digitally integrated public service system. The implementation of SIMKAH improves administrative accuracy, accelerates registration procedures, strengthens legal marriage awareness, and expands public accessibility to Islamic marriage services. The study further demonstrates that SIMKAH functions not merely as a technological administrative instrument but also as a medium of administrative da‘wah through digital legal education and institutional guidance. However, several challenges remain, including digital inequality, limited technological literacy, and unstable internet infrastructure. The novelty of this study lies in introducing the concept of administrative da‘wah within digital Islamic public services, where Islamic bureaucracy simultaneously functions as a mechanism of governance, religious education, and social transformation.
