Abstract

Lagu dolanan Jawa Tengah, dhondhong apa salak dan gundhul pacul, mempunyaiperanan yang penting untuk anak-anak karena di dalam lagu dolanan tersebut terdapatnilai-nilai pendidikan dan simbol-simbol kehidupan yang dapat dijadikan tuntunanuntuk anak-anak. Penelitian ini akan menggali makna budaya yang tersembunyidi dalam lagu dolanan Jawa Tengah yakni dhondhong apa salak, gundhul pacul,dan kupu kuwi agar menemukan pemahaman budaya Jawa Tengah yang tersiratdalam lagu dolanan tersebut. Metode pengambilan data dalam makna budaya lagudolanan di Jawa Tengah dengan cara interview atau wawancara secara personalyakni mewawancarai 3 informan. Model memvalidasi data ini mengarahkan penelitimengambil data harus menggunakan beragam sumber data yang berbeda-beda. Lagu dolanan di Jawa Tengah seperti dhondhong apa salak, gundhul pacul, dan kupu kuwi mempunyai makna budaya yang baik dalam pendidikan maupun kehidupan anakanak. Lagu dolanan dhondhong apa salak mempunyai makna budaya yakni karakter manusia ada 3 diilustrasikan seperti buah dhondhong, salak, dan duku. Sifat yangpaling baik diantara ke tiga ilustrasi tersebut yaitu buah duku karena sifat luar dandalam sama-sama baik, halus, dan lembut. Lagu dolanan gundhul pacul mengandungmakna budaya yaitu jika orang yang mempunyai kehormatan, kedudukan, dankemuliaan janganlah menjadi sombong karena Allah dapat memberikan balasaanyang setimpal karena kesombongannya. Sedangkan, lagu dolanan kupu kuwi juga mengandung makna budaya yakni bagaimana manusia mendapatkan kebahagiaan,kebahagiaan itu tidak bisa diprediksi kapan datangnya, kapan munculnya, dan arahmana kebahagiaan akan muncul.

Abstract

This research aims at finding out the kinds of addressing terms manuscript and the reasons of using addressing terms used in Tangled Movie Manuscript. The type of this research is a descriptive qualitative research which takes a document oriented as the method of collecting data. By this method, the researchers uses Tangled movie manuscript as the data source, and the data taken are the expressions which contain addressing terms. The rate of addressing terms use first name is the biggest. Theresult of the research shows that there are five kinds namely, addressing using name (fist name, full name, and last name), addressing using intimacy, (3) addressing using kinship, (4) addressing using respect, and (5) addressing using mockery. Thestudy find seven reasons of addressing terms used in Tangled movie manuscript were showing solidarity, intimacy, mockery, power, respectful, and anger.

Abstract

This study is carried out to describe classroom technique used in the teaching of English at State of Junior High School of Sawit 1 Boyolali. The kinds of this research is describtive qualitative research especially naturalistic study in analyzing the data. The method of collecting data in this research are observation, interview and document. The finding of the study shows that there are some classroom techniques implemented by English teachers at SMP Negeri 1 State of Junior High School of Sawit 1 Boyolali, drilling, grouping, individual task, listening to music, picture describing, presentation, question and answer, questioning, reading aloud, repetition, role play, and translation.The teachers have roles as facilitator, teacher as motivator, teacheras observer, teacher as manager, teacher as model, teacher as counselor, teacher as controller, and teacher as evaluator. The students have roles as members of group, as tutor of other learners, as negotiator, as subject, and as monitor and evaluator of their own learning progress. There are some materials used by English teachers, such as: textbook, workbook, dictionary, photocopy exercises, powerpoint on LCD, audio like song, and videos from youtube. The conclusion of this research is that English teachers at State of Junior High School of Sawit 1 Boyolali used various classroom techniques which can improve the students’ ability. Various techniques can make the students interested in English teaching-learning process. It does not make the class monotonous. The students become more active and creative. Based on the results, apparently, classroom techniques used by the teachers have important role in the teaching-learning process.

Abstract

This paper illustrates my own teaching experience perceiving Kartini, my ‘Central Java’ student, who has different background of culture in the class. How I noticed her is part of impact on how my English teachers used to notice me. This is due to a belief that the capability of teachers to ‘overlook the significance of their past experience’ is one of the elements in shaping their present and future attitude in teaching and learning (Jalongo and Isenberg, 1995). Therefore, a narrative analysis which investigates nonnarative data through narration (Bamberg, 2012; Benson, 2014)  is presented to illustrate the concept of the major hindrance in communication in the way of overgeneralizing, stereotyping, and reducing the students with something different or less than they are under the four constituents; stereotype, prejudice, culturalism, and essentialism (Holliday, 2010). The data inform that I once viewed my student in terms of difference from myself. Thus, I was misled by my own preconceptions and have fallen into the trap of Othering.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to measure the success rate achieved by the alumni of Open/Distance Learning (O/DL), the Bachelor Education In-service Teachers Program (BEITP), Staya Jacana Christian University(SWCU), Salatiga in their critical thinking habit that lead to their success, and to find factors which determined their critical thinking habit. The factors concerned were student factor (learning motivation, alumni’s readiness to enter ICT community, prerequisite) or teacher factor (teacher’s ability in creating and using a new instructional context). This quantitative research belongs to the causality ex-post facto research. The data source was one class of O/ DL, the BEITP, SWCUstudents, who were chosen out of four classes, as many as 32 alumni in the academic year 2015/2016. Data were screened using a self-rating scale, which consisted of 40 items tested valid and reliable, and then reduced to 5 variablas. The BEITP, SWCU Salatiga had graduated most of its alumni who owned critical thinking habit at a high rate. The critical thinking habit was affected by the instructional contexts which enabled a new situation (Model 1), alumni’s readiness to enter the ICT community (Model 2), pre-requisite, i.e., mastery of previous lecture materials (Model 3), and student’s learning motivation (Model 4) to reach 81%. The alumni’s critical thinking habit of 51.20% was determined by the teacher’s role in developing instructional contexts which made a new situation possible. This finding was useful for educational quality management for the effectiveness and productivity of higher education, which should have been focused on the teacher in developing an instructional strategy based on context, alumni readiness to enter the ICT community, prerequisite, and student’s learning motivation.

Abstract

This research specially addresses through a sociological perspective the existence of narrative poetry that lately rampant in Indonesia. Therefore, this research assumes that the existence of a literary work is closely link with the condition of the time. Thisresearch seeks to compare with the kinds of poetry before as traditional poerty, poetry of pujangga baru, mantera poetry, and Mbeling poetry both aesthetic characteristics and social conditions. Based on the research process, it is known that the narrativepoerty has unique characteristics that are different from other types of poetry. It is known that narrative poetry is a real respond to assessment of poems that are considered difficult to understand. Therefore, this poetry tries to synergize with readers, making certain platforms, giving easy access to the meaning of the poetry. Thus sociological characteristics known as the effect of the conditions which always demanding the ease and speed. Such condition if drawn further was the effect of industrialization and technological pace.

levels. To investigate the error types, the frequency of error types, the similarities and difference of errors and the last to find the error sources that occur in first, second and third year learners. Error analysis is one type of linguistic study and it focuses on learners’ error making. The linguistic category and surface strategy taxonomy are used to find out the types of error. The analysis the phenomenon based on Brown (1980) namely, error identification, error classification, Error description and error explanation. The data from students’ writing products, 54 pieces in three levels andthe total errors are 571 erroneous sentences. There are two types of errors, namely lexical errors and syntactical errors; eight error categories and twenty-seven error cases. The second year learners made the most error 263 errors or 46, 05% whilefirst year learners produced 229 errors or 40, 10% and third year learners made 79 errors or 13, 83%. There are similarity in errors types, five similar categories and five error cases, but there are three different error categories and eighteen error cases. The main error sources, learners had lack knowledge of English grammatical rule. The overgeneralization (265 errors or 46, 40%) influences learners’ error, language transfer (199 errors or 34, 85%) still interfere learners’ acquisition and simplification (107 errors or 18, 73%) is one factor that effect learners’ errors.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) mendeskripsikan majas perbandingan yang dominan digunakan oleh Sapardi Djoko Damono dalam antologi puisi Melipat Jarak. (2) Menjabarkan pemanfaatan majas perbandingan sebagai materi pengayaan sastra di SMA kelas X. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan stilistika. Data penelitian ini adalah satuan lingual berupa kata, frasa, dan kalimat yang menunjukkan majas perbandingan. Sumber data penelitian berasal dari buku antologi puisi Melipat Jarak karya Sapardi Djoko Damono. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan pembacaan heuristik dan studi pustaka melalui teknik simak dan catat. Analisis data penelitian menggunakan deskripsi analisis semiotik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) majas perbandingan yang muncul adalah majas personifikasi, simile, metafora, perumpamaan, alegori, sinekdoke pars prototo, dan metonimia. Akan tetapi, yang paling dominan dimanfaatkan oleh penyair yaitu majas personifikasi, simile, dan metafora. (2) Pemanfaatan majas perbandingan dalam antologi puisi Melipat Jarak karya Sapardi Djoko Damono sebagai materi pengayaan sastra di SMA kelas X terbagi dalam dua kegiatan, yakni eksploratori dan keterampilan proses. KI/KD yang relevan dengan kegiatan eksploratori adalah KI 3/ KD 3.16, yakni mengidentifikasi suasana, tema, dan makna beberapa puisi yang terkandung dalam buku antologi puisi atau kumpulan puisi yang sudah dipublikasikan yang diperdengarkan atau dibaca dan KI 3/ KD 3.17, yaitu menganalisis unsur-unsur pembangun dalam puisi. Selanjutnya adalah kegiatan keterampilan proses. Kegiatan ini relevan dengan rumusan KI 4/ KD 4.17, yakni menulis puisi dengan memerhatikan unsur-unsur pembangunnya.Kata kunci: majas, pengayaan sastra

Abstract

In the last a couple of years, national character has been degraded. In the field, data showed that the morality or character of the Indonesians has now collapsed. Character education through the learning process can be very helpful. In addition to the learning process, it turns out the learning material too. We often find that in the textbook, they contain learning materials to the value of the attitude that must be followed. The purpose of this study is to describe the nature and patterns of reasoning values of caring, creative, and manners in Indonesian learning materials in class VII curriculum 2013. This research uses descriptive explanative technique. The data of this study is learning materials of text containing the value of caring, creative, and manners. Data were analyzed using data flow model of Miles and Huberman. The results showed that there were 27 form values of caring, 11 creative values, and 6 manners values in Indonesian learning materials in books class VII curriculum 2013. It was also the pattern of reasoning appropriate at this stage of the scientific approach. The pattern of reasoning realized that the process of deductive reasoning, analogy inductive, deductive analogy, the relationship between causal phenomenon, due to the cause, and 1 causal-effect 2. The new pattern appears that the causal relationship 1-induced second-result 3, and causal relationship-effects.

Abstract

This study is aimed at explaining what causes the differences occurred in Indonesianrequest utterances produced by Korean learners of Indonesian. The data used inthis research were taken directly from the fieldwork. The data were taken throughdirect observation by recording and taking notes from conversations between Koreanpeople living in Yogyakarta whostudies Indonesian language. To collect the data,the researcher distributed questionnaires. After collecting the data, the researcheranalyzed them in the area of pragmatics, compared the data between the Koreanand Indonesian speakers, and discussed the factors causing the differences. Theresearcher reveals that the Korean learning Indonesian produce different requestutterance forms compared to the native speakers. The factors of request utterancedifferences used by Korean learning Indonesian are mainly caused by linguistics andnon-linguistics factors. The linguistics factors are the impact of Korean pragmaticsknowledge transfer and the imperfection of grammatical knowledge meanwhile thenon-linguistics factors are cultural differences, intake of Indonesian learning, andhabit of using informal forms in daily conversation.
