Abstract

Customer loyalty is important for both product and service industries. A loyal customer keeps using the company’s product and services. For a shipping service company, retaining existing customers in order to remain faithful will certainly be very crucial. This study was to determine relationship between variables affecting customer loyalty at PT. Pos Indonesia-Banda Aceh, a shipping service industry. The research used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and with samples of 153 questionnaires obtained through a non-probability sampling technique. By using AMOS software, it can be concluded that the perceived quality does affect customer satisfaction, perceived value has influence on the customer satisfaction, the customer satisfaction is influential to trust and the trust itself has positive influence on customer loyalty.

Abstract

Product developments of post stroke rehabilitation robot have being done either by local universities or by foreign ones. In this development processes, customer needs were identified prior to the use of QFD method, assuming that improved performance of customer needs linearly affects satisfaction level. This assumption frequently does not fit real condition in the market, wherein customer satisfaction on certain needs dramatically increases by an improvement on their performance and, on the other hand, improved performance on other needs does not affect customer satisfaction at all. In this research, we conclude that almost all of attributes under study belong to one-dimentional categories. Exceptions are associated with portable attribute that belong to must-be categoris and moveable attribute that belong to attractive categories. Moreover, price attribute will affect consumer satisfaction the most given it is fullfilled and control attribute will influence customer dissatisfaction the most if it is not fullfilled.

Abstract

Repetitive tasks carried out by workers of packaging department of mineral water company led to some complaints of pain and fatigue on a particular body part of the workers, especially on their upper body part. This study aims to determine risk level of musculoskeletal disorders with OCRA index and provides optimal break schedule to reduce the risk level. Based on calculations using the OCRA index method, it is found that risk of injury to the workers were medium with high level of risk. Despite small workload of the operators, this may be caused by poor distribution of rest periods and lengthy working time for highly repetitive tasks. Improvement proposed in this study is type of work-compliant break time allocation. Optimal scheduling of which main objective is optimal break time is eventually obtained by applying enumeration algorithm with integer linear programming model. Based on OCRA index after improvement, it is clear that the proposal decreases the risk level of the workers.

Abstract

CV Poetra Mandiri Karton is a company that has not been able to meet production target each day.  Based on preliminary analysis, production underproduction was due to workers’ fatigue caused by manual material handling activities in the entire production process.  To solve these problems, nordic body map (NBM) approach was applied.  Prior to work, workers experienced musculoskeletal fatigue at down waist, and they experienced musculoskeletal fatigue at up waist, left forearm, right forearm, left hand, right hand, left ankle, and right ankle after work. Based on questionnaire of National Aeronautics and Space Administration Task Load Index (NASA-TLX), average of mental workload from all three groups is quite heavy.  By using rapid entire body assessment (REBA), it is found that average value of the risk in group 1 and group 2 requires immediate action, whereas action is required by the third group.  This article also presents a trolley design that will be used in manual material handling activities.

Abstract

This study discusses about how to evaluate the implementation of occupational health and safety (OHS) on batik small and medium sized enterprises in Madura. Successful implementation of OHS is influenced by worker behavior and then is measured by a score of worker safety through the intervention program. Intervention program is designed by using behavior-based safety approach that is based on the identification of hazards and risks at workplace. Intervention program is conducted by the provision of personal protective equipment, work standard setting, supervision and understanding improvement of the OHS. The results show that interventions can improve worker safety score from 34% to 56%.

Abstract

Purpose of this research is to determine types and causes of defects commonly found in Paper Machine 3 by using statistical process control (SPC) method.  Statistical process control (SPC) is a technique for solving problems and is used to monitor, control, analyze, manage and improve products and processes using statistical methods.  Based on Pareto Diagrams, wavy defect is found as the most frequent defect, which is 81.7%.  Human factor, meanwhile, is found as the main cause of defect, primarily due to lack of understanding on machinery and lack of training both leading to errors in data input.

Abstract

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a claim of stakeholders of a company in order for the company to operate not only in the interest of the company shareholders, but also in the interests of the stakeholders such as employees, local communities, government, customers and environment. The CSR can build some positive effect for the company and gives benefits to society. Additionally, the CSR program is one of the company’s ways in realizing its vision and mission.  This research explores main factors influencing the implementation of a CSR program based on ISO 26000 ran by a manufacturing company located in Kecamatan Dlingo, Kabupaten Bantul. Regarding societal aspect, the environment is found as the main factor with MSA score of 0.649. Social relationship among employees, on the other hand, is found as the main factor of employees aspect with MSA score of 0.867.

Abstract

This study is concerned with maintenance on a heavy equipment excavator 390D series HE4019, one of the main tools used to support the process of nickel production. Major constraint in using this tool is an insufficiently planned maintenance such that the tool affected operational and production process of nickel. Failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) method is used to identify the risks of failure of critical components on the performance of the unit. Based on risk priority number (RPN), three critical components are found as leading causes of unit downtime. These are stick cylinder (RPN 288), fuel filter (RPN 280) and oil pan (RPN 240), respectively. Mean time between failure (MTBF) scores of stick cylinder, fuel filter and oil pan are 1,288.91 hours, 334.04 hours and 1,455.77 hours, respectively. Each of making rod of the cylinder covered, periodically flushing the fuel tank and taking on a warning sign on the couplers and coating the gasket with an additional layer during installation, in the meantime, are proposed as preventive maintenance for each the three critical components.

Abstract

The study was originated from the result of observation on production activity of small food industries in Yogyakarta that showed various awkward postures. Awkward posture will lead to continual static loading on soft tissue which potentially cause musculoskeletal disorders and further will affect worker productivity and performance. The aims of the study were to identify and characterize musculoskeletal symptoms among small food industry worker in Yogyakarta. The subjects of this study were one hundred worker of small food industry in Yogyakarta. The identification used standardized Nordic Questionnaire to evaluate musculoskeletal symptoms on 28 body parts in two time periods: recent twelve months and recent seven days. The result of this study indicated that 100% participants reported experiencing discomfort at least in one body part in the previous twelve months and 89% of them reported the same thing in the seven-day period. Statistical analysis showed significant difference between musculoskeletal symptoms taking place in the twelve-month period and those in the seven-day period. Musculoskeletal symptoms primarily took place on waist. The lowest prevalence for twelve-month period and seven-day one were left elbow (29%) and left leg (5%), respectively.

Abstract

CV. Gracia has offset printing machines that often have downtime due to engine failures. The low effectiveness of the offset printing machines could cause losses to the company. Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) method is a tool to determine the success rate of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) based on categories of availability, performance, and quality. The OEE average value of the company in 2014, 57%, is relatively low. In this study, causes of this low OEE is analyzed using Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and fishbone diagram. Improvements such as relocation of raw material and colourful catalog were subsequently proposed and implemented during April - May 2016. The implementation resulted in OEE average value of 60%.
