Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine the effect of self-control on loan repayment decisions of women market vendors in Mbeya municipality, Tanzania. Design/Methods/Approach: This study employed a mixed research design. Primary data was collected via questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. A stratified random sampling technique was used to come up with a sample of 348 respondents selected from a population of 1741 women market vendors. Finally, descriptive statistics and regression analysis were utilized to process the collected data. Findings:  The result of data analysis determined that self-control had a significant adverse effect on loan repayment decision  Originality/Value: This study is unique since it studies self-control and loan repayment amongst women market vendors. The specificity of the set population allowed for a more in-depth and nuanced understanding of the experiences and challenges faced by this specific group of individuals hence deriving originality in this research. Practical/Policy implication: Findings are useful to policymakers and microcredit providers. Policymakers should promote activities and education that assist Tanzanians in attaining self-control. They should devise policies to make loans more affordable and easier to repay. Microcredit lenders should utilize subjective measures of self-control on loan applications as it is highly effective in enhancing repayment when coupled with high levels of financial literacy.

Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this research is to examine the impact of Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOP) on firms' profitability of Tanzanian publicly listed firms. Design/Methods/Approach: The research utilized a longitudinal research design by employing secondary data from firms listed in the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE). The random effect model with two estimations was utilized to analyze data. Findings: Results suggest that ESOP has a positive and significant effect on the firm's quest for profitability.  Originality: The originality or uniqueness of this study lies in providing further understanding from a different economic and cultural perspective and enhancing the results of academic studies in this area. Practical/Policy implication: For business owners, the results of this study can be used as a root from which they can have a reason to grow their own ESOP and increase their wealth. For policymakers, it is a base for policy formulation that will enhance the profitable tax base.

Abstract

Objective: This study examines the relationship between customer experience and brand loyalty mediated by brand credibility and brand trust. Design/Methods/Approach: Primary data was collected using a questionnaire with a purposive sampling technique. A total of 363 respondents who had used one of the conventional travel agent services in Bali participated in this study. The Partial Least Square Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) was used to analyze the data through outer and inner models using SmartPLS 4. Findings: This study discovered that customer experience positively has a direct and indirect impact on brand loyalty with the mediating effect of brand credibility and brand trust. Originality: The existing literature supports the direct influence of customer experience on brand loyalty in various industries. However, no other study has investigated the mediating role of brand credibility and brand trust on the relationship between customer experience and brand loyalty. This comprehensive study filled the gap between customer experience and brand loyalty in travel agent services. Practical/Policy implication: This study offered managerial implication. By considering customer experience a competitive advantage, managers can actively evolve several experiential marketing strategies to cultivate brand credibility and trust to impact brand loyalty.

Abstract

Purpose:Technological developments and environmental changes are currently growing rapidly. This adaptation indirectly requires a company to continue to innovate, especially in the development of Start Up software. This study aims to examine the relationship between servant leadership and knowledge sharing on innovative work behavior. This study also explores the mediating role of creative self-efficacy on innovative work behavior. Design/methodology/approach: Data was collected from 120 millennial Start Up employees in the field of software development. Data collection was carried out through a survey design. Data analysis was done through a structural equation model using PLS-Smart. Findings: The results show that servant leadership and knowledge sharing have a significant positive effect on innovative work behavior. Creative self-efficacy partially mediates the relationship between servant leadership and innovative work behavior. Creative self-efficacy is also able to partially mediate the relationship between knowledge sharing and innovative work behavior. Originality/value: This study contributes to the existing literature by integrating the mechanism between servant leadership and knowledge sharing into innovative work behavior. Practical implications: This study provides prospective insights to management leaders and practitioners that servant leadership and knowledge sharing bring about positive change in the innovative work behavior. It also augments innovative behavior by enhancing employees' creative self-efficacy, especially millennials in Start-Up businesses.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to investigate the influence of authentic leadership on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) and examine the role of psychological empowerment and quality of working life (QWL) as mediation in the construction of proposed relationships. Design/Methods/Approach: This study adopts a quantitative method by conducting cross-sectional surveys of multi-sectoral employees in Jakarta, and Surabaya, resulting in 271 respondents. The collected data were analyzed using structural equation models with SmartPLS 3.0 and tested with hierarchical component models or second-order constructs. Findings: The findings of this study show that QWL and psychological empowerment are important variables in mediating the effects of authentic leadership to encourage employees to be willing to demonstrate OCB in the work environment. Originality/Value: This study contributes to the existing literature by investigating the role of psychological empowerment and QWL mediation variables in mediating the indirect influence of authentic leadership on OCB in the Indonesian context. The findings from this study provide theoretical insights and practical implications for authentic leadership in organizations, as well as the foundation for continuous research into QWL and psychological empowerment that may have a solid direct influence and full mediation role on employees' OCB. Practical/Policy implication: Given the results, human resource managers must try their best to fulfill aspects of the quality of working life and increase employee psychological empowerment. Because both variables play an important role in determining the positive effect of authentic leadership on the OCB of employees in the organization

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to investigate the impact of knowledge and current penetration of fintech services on the overall performance of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), which in this case were fishermen and marine farmers. Design/Methods/Approach: This study utilized data from nine fishing villages with two hundred respondents. The data was collected using a questionnaire based on the purposive sampling technique, then analyzed using SmartPLS and path analysis. Findings: Knowledge had direct and indirect positive and significant effects on the overall managerial performance of fishermen and marine farmers. In addition, the user experience might increase the rapid adoption of fintech, improving the performance of MSMEs in small island regions. Originality/Value: This study highlights the importance of fintech knowledge for increasing the uptake and impact of fintech among MSMEs in remote small island areas, which has escaped the attention of scientific research. Practical/Policy implication: Given the results, more effort is needed to increase the knowledge of MSMEs in small islands region regarding services and risk to increase the participation of MSMEs in fintech.

Abstract

Objective: The objectives of this study are, first, to examine the direct relationship between OCB-I/O to work-family conflict; second, to examine the relationship between OCB-I/O to emotional exhaustion; third, to examine the mediating effect of work-family conflict in the relationship between OCB-I/O to emotional exhaustion. Design/Methods/Approach: Quantitative method was employed in this study. Data was statistically managed using SEM-PLS. There were 235 respondents involved in the study comprising various employees across industries in Indonesia.  Findings: Overall, the study found support for all of its hypotheses. There is a positive correlation between engaging in extra-role behavior that benefits the organization, known as OCB-O, and emotional exhaustion. This means that when employees perform additional tasks beyond their formal obligations, it can result in emotional exhaustion. Similarly, a positive correlation exists between OCB-I, which involves discretionary actions towards colleagues, and emotional exhaustion. This behavior can also increase stress due to reduced resources for other tasks. Work-family conflict partially mediates the relationship between OCB-O and emotional exhaustion, suggesting that OCB-O can still influence emotional exhaustion even without going through the mediator of work-family conflict. The study also highlights the need for companies to monitor employee involvement in OCB behavior to ensure their resources are not depleted and evaluate employee well-being. Originality/Value: This research examines how OCB relates to various variables that previously have not been tested into one hypothetical model. This study has significant contributions to organizational behavior and human resources. While most studies focus on the positive effect of OCB, this study investigates the cost of being good citizens.  Practical/Policy implication: It offers significant implications for scholars and managers. Given the results, this study suggests that organizations need to monitor employees' engagement toward OCB so that employee can balance their contribution at the workplace and home. Through close monitoring, organizations can help employees maintain a work-life balance.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze the effect of self-efficacy on organizational commitment and ethical behavior. Furthermore, this study also examines the mediating role of job satisfaction in determining the relationships.  Design/Methods/Approach: This study was carried out on healthcare and administrative staff. The sample size and respondents were determined using the Slovin formula and selected through random sampling. The data collected was analyzed using PLS analysis. Findings: The findings reveal that self-efficacy positively and significantly affects ethical behavior and organizational commitment. Additionally, job satisfaction plays a role in mediating the connection between self-efficacy and organizational commitment. Similarly, the analysis shows that job satisfaction mediates the link between self-efficacy and ethical behavior. Originality: The novelty of this study lies in the influence of self-efficacy on organizational commitment and ethical behavior. Previous studies mainly analyzed the influence of self-efficacy on other variables, in which none of them had combined the two variables, along with job satisfaction as a mediation variable. In particular, this study is novel as it analyzes job satisfaction for workers in a Regional General Hospital, in which prior studies only focused on other non-health institutions or companies. Practical/Policy implication: Optimizing communication and institutionalizing ethical and moral values will improve workers' self-efficacy. Institutions should focus on maintaining job satisfaction, including work, rewards, supervision, co-workers, and promotion opportunities, to promote employee commitment and ethical behavior.
