Abstract

The study aims to determine the validity of biotechnology modules containing research results for biology students. This is a design and development research project with the Plomp model development. The type of data in this study consisted of qualitative data obtained from the module validation sheet with a Likert Scale. The validation sheets in the form of questionnaires were given to the validators, who are experts on content, media, and linguistics. The aspects assessed in the validation sheets were all very valid, with values of 3.5, 3.8, 3.7, and 3.7 for content eligibility, presentation, linguistic, and graphic components, respectively. The mean score of the validity test was 3.7, which was in the category of very valid. It can be concluded that the study can be continued to the next level of the Plomp development model.

Abstract

Abstract. Fern is a plant that is spread so widely that it can be found from the lowlands to the highlands, has a high diversity of Indonesian flora groups and many grow in moist areas such as oil palm plantations, forests, hills and even river flows. In the river there are fern plants that grow attached to the stone. The study was conducted in July-August 2019 and aims to find out the types of fern plants that are used as decorative plants by sociality. The method used in this study is a descriptive survey by field observation and direct collection. Collections obtained were identified using with plant taxonomy books and field guides. Analysis of research data was done descriptively. The results showed that there were 6 types of decorative fern plants consisting of 1 class, 1 nation, 5 tribes, and 6 clans. Keywords: Pteridophyta, The Benefits of Fern

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the perception of the social competence for biology teacher candidates. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Research subjects were determined by using purpose sampling technique. Data were collected through interviews, filling out questionnaires, and document studies. The validity of the data was determined using source triangulation and technical triangulation. Data analysis techniques are carried out by means of data reduction, data display, and conclusion or verification. The results showed that the perception on the social competence of biology teacher candidates was in the good category. This research can be used as a basis for conducting research related to teacher competence in the future.

Abstract

Learning media plays an important role in learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the feasibility of the developed of preserved- leaves media. This type of research is research and development with the Dick and Carey Models. The research started from the phase of needs analysis, development, design, implementation, validation and product testing. Data were collected using scala likert, processed using the percentage formula  and analyzed descriptively. The test results on the product are very valid for the theory aspect (88.75%) and media aspect (83.67%), very practical (score 81.67% on the aspects of interest and ease to use), and very feasible (score 86, 25% for the small group test and 90.50% for the large group test). Thus,  concluded that the preserved-leaves media is valid, practical and feasible to use for plant morphology course.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study documents the use of leaves used by the Jambi Malay Tribe, Indonesia. The research method used is descriptive survey method. Samples were taken at simple random (Simple Random Sampling) with roaming method. Prior to sampling, interviews were conducted with the RRA (Rapid Rural Appraisal) approach and with direct observation of medicinal plant species found in the field. The results of identification and interviews obtained 57 types of herbal plants. From Class Dicotyledoneae 51 types of leaves and 6 types of leaves from Class Monocotyledoneae are used as herbs. The species with the most medicinal properties is Piper betle L. (three diseases)
