Abstract

Stored carbon is present in plant stands by measuring plant biomass. The amount of carbon stock depends on the diversity and density of existing plants, soil types and management methods. The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not there is an effect of differences in pyrite land on the size of carbon sequestration in oil palm plantations in the Production Plant (TM) phase (<20 years). This research was conducted in May - September 2020. The research sample was taken at the oil palm plantation of PT. Mopoli Raya, part of payarambe, North Sumatra. The test and calculation of carbon stocks were carried out at the Laboratory of PPKS Medan North Sumatra. The design of this study used a descriptive design, namely the non-destructive sampling method for measuring the biomass of living trees, dead trees and dead wood and the sampling method by harvesting (destructive sampling) for measuring the biomass of understorey plants and litter. Observations on sample plots according to plant age class with pyrite planting conditions. From the results of this research, oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) can be concluded that the carbon stock of pyrite land is greater.

Abstract

Rejang Lebong Regency is the producer center of robusta coffee in Bengkulu, the production continues to increase. Robusta coffee marketing in Rejang Regency is generally interesting because most of the sales objectives of robusta coffee from farmers are to coffee processing companies, both inside and outside the province. It’s suspected that there are variations in the production of robusta coffee in Rejang Lebong Regency, so that robusta coffee business actors have different marketing channels according to the limited supply they have. Based on the results of the research on 37 people who were selected by purposive sampling and through the Food Supply Chain Network (FSCN) approach, the robusta coffee supply chain conditions were running smoothly. This can be seen from the integration or cooperation between supply chain actors that have been established, especially with the coffee processing industry. There are 3 marketing channels for Robusta coffee in Rejang Lebong Regency and can assess the performance of its supply chain. Through the analysis of the marketing margin and the farmer's share shows that the Robusta coffee supply chain on channel 3 is more efficient than channel 1 and channel 2 because it has the lowest margin and the highest share of farmers.

Abstract

Covid-19 is a disease caused by the corona virus. In this situation, it makes new changes from all aspects of life, one of which is a change in the food supply chain. This change in situation greatly affected the red chili farmers. At the time of the pandemic, it was difficult for chili farmers to market their crops due to the closure of the venues and the enactment of the PSBB. This study aims to determine the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on chili commodities. The research was conducted in Sei Mencirim Village, Deli Serdang Regency in May 2020. The research method used in this study was a survey method. The results showed that the average green chili farming income was Rp. 18,536,000 and Rp. 14,880,000 per one planting season. The profits obtained by farmers are certainly very small compared to the previous situation. This is due to the difficulty of marketing chilies during the Covid pandemic and the low prices of chilies. Farmers choose to harvest chilies when they are still green because they are more profitable in terms of production costs and storage capacity of chilies. Not only that, at harvest green chilies the size and weight of chilies are larger and require less maintenance such as fertilization, labor, spraying pests and other treatments.

Abstract

Pakuwon biofertilizer is a biological fertilizer that has advantages in synchronizing coffee flowering. This technological innovation was produced by the Research Institute for Industrial Crops and Refreshments (Balitri) of the Agricultural Research and Development Agency which is able to increase the productivity of coffee plants and the efficiency of harvest labor. This study aims to determine the response of farmers to the Pakuwon biofertilizer technology innovation. The research was conducted from June to August 2019 at the Pematang Manggis Farmer Group, Talang Ulu Village, Curup Timur District, which is one of the coffee production centers in Rejang Lebong. Data collection was carried out through survey techniques and demonstrations involving 12 farmers. The data collected is the response of farmers to the nature of Pakuwon biofertilizer technology innovation which includes relative advantage, compatibility, complexity, observability, and triability. The survey to determine the response of farmers was carried out twice, namely the first survey after the socialization of technology and the second survey after the implementation of demonstration methods in the field of 200 coffee plants over 10 years old. Data were analyzed descriptively and statistically using response mapping and the Wilcoxon rank test. The results showed that the attributes of Pakuwon biofertilizer innovation, namely relative advantage, complexity, and triability, increased after the demonstration was carried out, the compatibility attributes were fixed, while the observability decreased. The decreasing observability is assumed because farmers are not sure about the results obtained because they have not seen the results of applying the Pakuwon biofertilizer in the field. Only the complexity attribute increased significantly after the demonstration of how to do it, showing that the application of Pakuwon biofertilizer technology innovation is easy to do in the field.

Abstract

Farmers in oil palm plantation areas in Seluma Regency have utilized the solid potential of palm oil waste as a source of beef cattle feed. Tunas Harapan Livestock Group, Sumber Arum Village, Sukaraja District, started using solid feed in 2009 to 2017, but now many farmers are no longer using it. This study aims to identify the inhibiting factors for solid use in Tunas Harapan Livestock Group. The study was conducted from July to August 2018. Data collection through in-depth interviews involved two key informants, namely the Head of the Farmer's Group and an agricultural extension worker, which was confirmed by interviews with 3 farmers and observations. The data collected is the result of the identification of technical, economic, and social factors related to the maintenance of beef cattle. The data were analyzed using the AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) method. The results showed that technical factors were the main obstacle to solid use with a value of 63.7%, followed by economic factors (25.8%) and social factors (10.5%). The reduction in the scale of livestock rearing from 4-5 to 1-2 is the dominant technical factor that hinders the sustainability of solid use in the field.

Abstract

Coffee was a type of beverage that widely consumed and favored by Indonesians. The level of coffee consumption in Indonesia increases every year. Lampung is one of the largest coffee producing provinces in Indonesia with Tanggamus being the 2nd highest coffee-producing district in Lampung. This has led to the growth of Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) of coffee at Tanggamus area, one of which was the processing of Robusta ground coffee. These SME produced robusta coffee to be marketed throughout Indonesia and often export to customers abroad. Therefore, SME owners must maintain the quality and quality of coffee by implementing GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices). This causes the need for evaluation of GMP at SME Tanggamus ground coffee to ensure product quality and quality as well as Yeast and Mold Plate also Total Plate Count testing to determine the level of product safety. In addition, there we also gived some recommendations for the application of the HACCP system to SME. Based on the results of observations on the application of GMP at SME Robusta Tanggamus Ground Coffee, there are 12 elements that are checked according to the requirements and there are 2 elements that should have an effort to improve. The results of YMP and TPC tests on Tanggamus robusta ground coffee products showed that the product did not contain mold, yeast, and microbes. Based on the recommendations for the application of the HACCP system, regular observations of the water used for washing coffee beans are required.
