Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the role of imports in development in Indonesia, the research methods in this research are the library study method, the data collection technique used is secondary data with content analysis techniques. Import activities have a complex impact on human resources in Indonesia. On the one hand, imports can create new jobs for Indonesian people, especially in the distribution and trade sectors, but on the other hand, they can also threaten jobs in manufacturing and agriculture, where local production can compete less with cheaper imports, and import activities can have a positive and negative impact on poverty in Indonesia. The results of this study show that importing activities tend to have a negative impact on natural resources, i.e. they can reduce the sustainability of living resources, they can affect mineral resource sustainability, and they affect forest resources sustainability and reduce forest resource reserves. Import activities have a positive and a negative impact on poverty in Indonesia. The positive impact can occur when imports are used to meet the needs of raw materials or capital goods that are not available in the country, while the negative impact can lead to a reduction in employment and income for the people.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study investigates how various factors affect the Human Development Index (HDI) across Indonesian provinces. It analyzes data from 30 provinces between 2013 and 2022, examining the influence of infrastructure, economic well-being (GRDP per capita), access to clean water and electricity, and unemployment and poverty rates. To account for overlapping factors, the research employs panel data regression with specific techniques to address multicollinearity. The results show that infrastructure investment and economic growth (GRDP per capita) significantly improve provincial HDI. This underlines the importance of prioritizing infrastructure development and inclusive economic strategies to achieve a better overall quality of life for Indonesians. Abstract

This study investigates the postponement of the age of first marriage and its implications for population growth and demographic structure in North Sumatra Province. The research utilizes qualitative methods to obtain clear and in-depth information. It employs secondary data collected and published by other sources to analyze trends in delaying the age of first marriage and its impact on population growth. Findings indicate a significant trend of delaying first marriage, especially among youth, with an observed increase in 2023. Factors such as access to education, changes in social values, and economic conditions influence the decision to postpone marriage. This postponement affects fertility and population growth, potentially reducing the birth rate. However, despite the decline in birth rates, population growth continues due to factors such as migration. The study emphasizes the importance of considering various factors, including migration, in demographic analysis and development planning to accommodate the complex dynamics of the population and meet the needs of the community comprehensively.
