Abstract

This study aims to develop a physics test instrument based on the conceptual knowledge dimension of Revised Bloom's Taxonomy on the topic of General Physics that meets the eligibility criteria of a good test instrument, including validity, reliability, level of difficulty, distinguishing power and effectiveness of fraud. This type of research is a Research and Development (R&D) research with the implementation stages of determining the objectives and indicators of test instruments, compilation of lattices and items, feasibility testing, revision and refinement of test instruments. The data of this study were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively by trying out the physics test instruments developed in the form of 30 multiple choice tests. Based on the results of qualitative analysis of the content validation aspect, the average rating obtained by the validator is 75.6%, meaning that the test is valid with minor revisions. Judging from the results of the quantitative analysis 20 items were obtained valid with reliability in the very high category, and the level of difficulty in the difficult to easy category, while in the aspect of distinguishing 12 items were in the good category, and 8 questions were in the excellent category and viewed from aspects of deception effectiveness obtained 20 items effective so that it can be concluded, as many as 20 items were accepted and declared worthy to be used to train and measure students' conceptual knowledge on the topic of General Physics

Abstract

Project based learning model (PjBL) is a model that is designed to train students to make plans and produce products that can solve problems in the surrounding environment. The PjBL model has five phases, there are (1) finding ideas, (2) designing the project, (3) compiling the project, (4) implementing the project, and (5) evaluating the project. The purpose of this study is to determine students ‘critical thinking skills and improve student’s critical thinking skills in learning physics through the PjBL model. The design in this study used one group pre-test post-test design on 60 students in Senior High School State of 12 Medan (SMA Negeri 12 Medan) at academic year 2019/2020. The instrument of students’ critical thinking skills uses 7 essay tests using indicators by Ennis, namely: (1) elementary clarification, (2) basic support, (3) inferring, (4) advanced clarification, and (5) strategy and tactic. Analysis of the data used is N-gain. The results of this study are students’ critical thinking skills in the medium category. And the improvement of students’ critical thinking skills is also in the medium category

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of inquiry training models using interactive multimedia to the physics learning outcomes students of SMA Negeri 21 Medan. Samples were taken using the probability sampling where the experimental classes were applied to the inquiry training models using interactive multimedia while the control class implemented direct instructional models. The instruments used in this study consist of 10 questions that are validated using the validity of the contents. The data on this research is quantitative data. Data analysis techniques for testing the hypothesis used in this research use SPSS with the use of different pairs of tests. The results showed that the learning outcomes students with the inquiry training model using interactive multimedia are better than the student learning outcomes taught with the direct instructional models.

Abstract

Learning media gives a good influence on students to understand the content of the lessons delivered by the teacher. Learning media makes students become active in learning so students do not only hear explanations from the teacher which can make students' different catches. The purpose of this research is the application of learning media in the learning process of students, and using the discovery learning model is expected to obtain an increase in student learning outcomes. This research was conducted in several 10th grade high schools in Medan, Indonesian. Sampling is done by cluster random sampling where every school has the same opportunity to become a research sample. The instrument of learning outcomes is in the form of multiple choice questions, and the instrument of student interest in learning is in the form of a questionnaire. The results of the discussion show that by using the discovery learning model with the help of instructional media can improve student learning outcomes, especially in vector material. This increase was seen from the response of students as much as 83.3% agreed to the use of media during learning. Learning media by using applications that were developed showed a positive interest in learning by students. The results of student learning instruments indicate that there are differences in the mean learning outcomes of control class students with the mean learning outcomes of experimental class students. The mean value of the control class was 53.61 while the mean learning outcomes in the experimental class was 63.66

Abstract

The research aims to determine the relationship between creativity and cognitive learning outcomes through the use of The ICARE Practice Based on Worksheet. This type of research is experimental research. The subjects of this study were 34 students who took high school physics courses in Physics Education Study Program majoring in physics, mathematics and natural sciences faculty, Medan State University. Data on student creativity was taken through the 3 item test validation test instrument that has been validated. Cognitive learning outcome data obtained through multiple-choice test instruments as many as 25 items that have been validated. The data analysis technique used is multiple regression. The results of the analysis for the coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.472 indicate that 47.20% of learning outcomes are influenced by science process skills and creativity.

Abstract

Indonesian students' competence in solving PISA literacy-based science questions is still relatively low compared to ASIA countries and even ASEAN countries. The research aims to develop wave material teaching materials based on PISA literacy for basic Physics courses in the Unimed Physics Study Program in the first semester of 2019/2020. This type of research is a research development using the stages of Analyze Design Develop Implement Evaluate (ADDIE). PISA-based competencies include competency in explaining science phenomena, competence in evaluating and designing science experiments and competence in interpreting the data from science experiments. In the analysis phase it was found that the available wave teaching materials did not fully support the demands of PISA competence. At the design stage, wave teaching materials are arranged by emphasizing the achievement of PISA competencies. At the development stage of the teaching material is validated by the material expert and revised according to expert input. At the implementation stage, teaching materials were tested on a small group of students and revisions were made to the material aspects of the competence of scientific inquiry and data interpretation in accordance with the difficulties found in the field. At the evaluation stage teaching materials are applied to undergraduate students in Physical Education. Results obtained: there was an increase in student responses and PISA-based competencies after using the developed wave teaching materials

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) determine the effect of students' creative thinking skills using the project based learning model. (2) determine the effect of students' creative thinking skills using conventional models. This research is a quasi-experimental type of research. The design in this study used two group pretest-posttest designs. The population of this research is all students of class XI semester 1 of SMA Negeri 9 Medan T.A. 2019/2020 there were 6 classes (192). The sample of this study consisted of two classes, namely class X IPA 1 (experimental class) and class X IPA 3 (control class) taken by cluster random sampling. The number of samples was 72 students. The research instrument was in the form of a project-based creative thinking skills test in the form of an essay test in accordance with aspects of creative thinking skills according to Karen S. Meador. The validity of the test is carried out with content validity, using 2 expert lecturers. Analysis of the data used is the t-test. The results of this study are the influence of project based learning model learning on students 'creative thinking skills and improvement of students' creative thinking skills in its aspect in the medium category.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the increase of students' critical thinking skills in learning by using Student Worksheets (LKS) assisted by computer simulations. The worksheet used was problem based and contained questions that explore critical thinking skills. This type of research was a quasi experimental of two groups pretest-posttest design. The population of this study was all students of class X Semester I of SMA Negeri 9 Medan, which consisted of seven classes with the number of students was 243 students. The participants of this study consisted of 2 classes which used cluster random sampling technique. The first class was class of X MIA 2, 36 students, as an experimental which was treated by using student worksheets problem-based assisted by computer simulation. The second class was class X MIA 3, 32 students, as a control class which was treated by conventional learning using. The instrument used was a critical thinking test of 10 questions in the form of problem-based description. Based on the results of different tests, this study obtained significant differences on students 'critical thinking skills by using problem-based worksheets assisted by computer simulations. In other words the implementation of learning by using problem-based student worksheets was better in increasing students' critical thinking skills than conventional learning. Percentage increase in N-gain of critical thinking experimental class 64% and control class 43%, respectively - medium category.

Has done research for the purpose of to determine Has done research for the purpose of to determine the relationship between the understanding of the concept of students with the ability to solve problems of Newton's laws class X student of SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Barat in the academic year 2017, the second, to determine how much stronger relationship understanding of the concept with the ability to solve problems of Newton's laws class X SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Barat in the academic year 2017, the third, to know how big contribution to the understanding of the concept of the ability to solve problems of newton's laws of class X student of SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Barat in academic year 2017. This research was conducted in SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Barat with the population of all students in class X IPA at SMAN 1 Angkola Barat and a sample was taken 30 students of class X IPA 2 by using purposive sampling mehtod. Research using correlation method and data were analyzed by statistical methods. The study used a data collection tool that tests Understanding Concepts and Problem Solving Ability Test Physics. The study used data collection tool is calibrated through validity and reliability test. The results of the study there is a relationship between students' understanding of the concept with the ability to solve problems of Newton's laws of class X student of SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Barat Academic Year 2017. After koefien consult with the correlation table "r" of Pearson Product Moment, turned out rhit > rtab. Both at the level of 0.01 (1%) and 0.05 (5%), ie 0.975> 0.361 and 0.975> 0.463. While, testing the significance turns thit > ttab ie 23.44> 1.9958. While, the contribution of variable X to variable Y by 95.06%.

Abstract

The research had done in sixth (VI) semester students of Physics Education Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Graha Nusantara Padangsidimpuan 2018/2019 Academic Year, the total is 20 people. Researchers applied PhET Simulation Interactive based learning by using komputers on modern physics material. The type of research is Classroom Action Research that conducted in three cycles. The purpose of this study was to find out the increasing of understanding student concepts through the application of PhET-based learning media, due to the learning of Modern Physics and it was hoped that students would be able to follow the development of knowledge and technology, one of them is nanotechnology. The learning media that used in this study are Lesson Plan (RPP), Instruments, student activity observation sheets, and observation sheets of the lecturers’ ability to manage learning.The results showed that the application of PhET simulation learning media in physics learning was effective in increasing the understanding of physics concepts of modern physics subject students increasing in each cycle. In the first cycle, the ability to understand the concepts of student physics is still very low with a percentage of 45%, the learning method is still centered on the lecturer, and the response of students to subjects is low. After applying the PhET simulation in cycle II, the understanding of students 'physics concepts increased to 65%, the level of lecturer management in learning was 69.23%, and the students' response was positive in learning. In cycle III, the learning objectives are achieved with a level of understanding the concepts of physics by 85%, pengeloalan lecturers in the classroom by 84.6%, and learning increasingly attract the attention of students. It can be concluded that the PhET simulation learning media in physics learning is very effective to improve student activity in modern physics subject matter of photoelectric effects. The practicality of animation media using simulations can be seen from the students' responses to the implementation of learning using the PhET simulation media for the photoelectric effect results of the development of material / content, linguistic, presentation and graphic aspects. Students are increasingly interested because it is easier and helped to learn through PhET simulation media. The application of PhET simulation learning media in physics learning contributes effectively to lecturers to develop professionalism in managing learning.
