Abstract

This research aimed to assess the reading comprehension skills of 5th-grade students at SD Negeri Tangkisan and to identify the factors that affect these abilities. Using a descriptive, qualitative method with a case study approach, this research sample consists of 16 5th-grade students from the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection included observation, interviews, and tests. Analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, which involves data collection, reduction, display, and drawing conclusions or verification, with validity ensured through technique and source triangulation. The findings revealed that students' reading comprehension was at a moderate level. Specifically, students achieved a 70.31% score in literal comprehension, indicating their ability to understand facts and details in the text. For interpretive comprehension, students scored 63.75%, suggesting some difficulty in extracting implied meanings. Critical comprehension was 65.62%, indicating a moderate ability to evaluate and analyze texts. These results indicate that while students generally grasp reading material, they still require guidance, particularly in inferencing and analysis. Influencing factors were categorized as external (including text characteristics, environmental reading habits, availability of reading materials, and supporting facilities) and internal (such as initial reading skills, interest and attitude, memory capacity, and emotional state during reading). The overall results indicate a moderate comprehension level among 5th-grade students at SD Negeri Tangkisan, highlighting the need for more effective learning strategies and reading practices to enhance students’ critical and interpretive skills.

Abstract

The increasing complexity of environmental crises, including climate change, pollution, and waste management, necessitates systematic and structured initiatives to address these challenges. Early environmental awareness is essential for fostering pro-environmental behavior. The Adiwiyata School Program offers a framework for integrating environmental values into elementary-level character education. This research examines the implementation of eco-printing, a natural dyeing technique that utilizes leaves and flowers, as a means to develop an environmentally conscious character at SDN 1 Sitiwinangun. A qualitative case study approach was employed, with data collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that eco-printing functions as both a creative art activity and an effective educational medium for instilling values such as responsibility, collaboration, and environmental stewardship. The activity is incorporated into thematic learning and the Pancasila Student Profile (P5) project on Sustainable Lifestyle. The multisensory learning experience and active participation of the school community contribute to sustained behavioral change. Documented outcomes include enhanced waste management, conservation of natural resources, and the adoption of environmentally friendly practices at school and home. These results demonstrate that eco-printing is a transformative approach to environmental character education, consistent with the objectives of the Adiwiyata Program and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Therefore, educators, policymakers, and school leaders are strongly encouraged to adopt and integrate eco-printing more broadly as an educational strategy to promote ecological responsibility among students from an early age.

Abstract

This research developed artificial intelligence (AI)-based animated video learning media for fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 157 Palembang to facilitate instruction on changes in the physical form of objects. The validity and practicality of the media were evaluated using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model for research and development. Media experts rated the media as highly valid (88%). Material experts assessed it as very valid (92%), and practitioner experts rated it as extremely valid (98%). Usability trials further supported these findings. Individual participants obtained a perfect score (100%), while large-group participants rated the media as very practical (96%). The effectiveness evaluation yielded an N-gain score of 0.75, categorized as high, and indicates substantial improvement in students’ cognitive learning outcomes from the pretest to the posttest. These results demonstrate that the animated video media enhances students’ comprehension, motivation, and engagement in science learning. With visually rich and accessible videos, measurable benefits emerged for elementary students. The product thus proves effective as a teaching tool and represents an innovative instructional approach in the classroom.

Abstract

This research examines the impact of the school environment on the self-confidence of 4th-grade students at SDIT At-Taqwa. Using a qualitative case study approach, it explores social dynamics within elementary education. Data were collected through participatory observation and in-depth interviews with the principal, homeroom teachers, subject teachers, and students. Documentation reviewed included activity photographs, school records, and program archives. Data analysis followed Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Results indicate that the school’s social environment substantially enhances self-confidence, with 82% of students exhibiting improvement. Contributing factors include positive teacher feedback, practical homeroom guidance, strong peer relationships, and structured programs such as Ta’lim that foster public-speaking skills. Supportive physical spaces, interactive classrooms, and participatory curricula further contribute to this development. Students engaged in extracurricular activities and competitions show marked growth. The findings suggest that a supportive and well-structured school environment fosters self-confidence and offers practical guidance for collaborative character-building initiatives. Future research should explore the influence of the school environment on additional character traits, including leadership, responsibility, empathy, and communication skills.

Abstract

High-quality human resources drive national development in the era of globalization. This research investigates the impact of project-based learning on student learning in Pancasila education among 5th-grade students at SD Al-Islam Pengkol, Jepara. Pancasila education fosters national identity and civic character, making it a crucial component of elementary school curricula. The researchers applied a quantitative, pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest–posttest method. 24 5th-grade students participated. During the intervention, students completed group projects on Pancasila-related historical events, delivered creative presentations about national heroes, and engaged in community service projects. These activities aimed to deepen their understanding of Pancasila values. The research team collected data through pretests and posttests to evaluate the impact of project-based learning. Results showed significant improvement, with mean scores increasing from 60.04 to 77.46. A paired-sample t-test revealed that the t-count (13.187) and t-table (8.518) both exceeded the null hypothesis score (8.518) at a 95% confidence level. These results clearly demonstrate that project-based learning substantially improves students’ mastery of Pancasila material and develops their character. Project-based learning stands out as an effective and powerful strategy for equipping elementary students with national values and essential skills, thereby fostering their future success.
