Wb.                                                             Praise the presence of Allah SWT for all the overflow of His Rahmat so that we can publish the journal AlphaMath volume ten number two. The creation of the journal AlphaMath aims to develop a writing culture for educators, both teachers and lecturers. The AlphaMath journal also seeks to accommodate all forms of research in mathematics education. The production of this journal aligns with the goal and mission of the Department of Mathematics Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto.The overall content of this journal discusses mathematics education. This is done to encourage educators to innovate in their teaching and share their ideas with others. Hopefully, this journal will be assessed continuously to improve its quality. The current version of AlphaMath contains articles on ethnomathematics, learning models, mathematics skills, literacy and numeracy. Abstract

This study aims to enhance students' mathematics learning outcomes at SMAN 3 Mataram by implementing the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach integrated with the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. Conducted as classroom action research, the study spans three cycles, each comprising four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects were 35 students from class X-1 at SMAN 3 Mataram during the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. Research instruments included observation sheets for lesson design implementation, written tests, and student reflection questionnaires. Results indicate that integrating TaRL with PBL significantly improved mathematics learning outcomes. In Cycle I, the average score was 77.60, with a classical mastery of 68.57%, marking a 7.11% increase from the pre-cycle. Cycle II saw the average score rise to 86.91 with a classical mastery of 85.71%, a 9.31% improvement from Cycle I. By Cycle III, the average score reached 91.00 with a classical mastery of 100%, reflecting a 4.09% increase from Cycle II. These findings conclude that the TaRL approach integrated with the PBL model significantly enhances the mathematics learning outcomes of class X-1 students at SMAN 3 Mataram in the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keefektifan model Cooperative Learning type Team’s Game Tournament (TGT) pada pembelajaran matematika ditinjau dari kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan toleransi siswa kelas VIII SMP N 1 Sedayu tahun pelajaran 2016/2017. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksprerimen semu dengan pre-postest nonequivalent control group design. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Populasi penelitian mencakup seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP N 1 Sedayu Bantul yang terdiri dari empat kelas. Dari populasi yang ada diambil secara acak dua kelas yaitu VIII A dan VIII C sebagai sampel penelitian. Pembelajaran matematika pada kelas VIII A menggunakan model Cooperative Learning tipe TGT dan pembelajaran pada kelas VIII C menggunakan metode konvensional. Instrumen penelitian ini adalah tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan angket toleransi siswa. Untuk menguji keefektifan pembelajaran dengan model Cooperative Learning tipe TGT dan metode konvensional yang ditinjau dari kemampuan komunikasi dan toleransi siswa dalam matematika, digunakan analisis one sample t-tes. Perbandingan Keefektifan model Cooperative Learning tipe TGT dan metode konvensional pada pembelajaran matematika yang ditinjau dari kemampuan komunikasi dan toleransi siswa, data dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji T2 hotteling. Uji-t univariat digunakan untuk menentukan pendekatan yang lebih efektif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkkan bahwa (1) penerapan model Cooperative Learning tipe TGT dan metode konvensional dalam pembelajaran matematika efektif ditinjau dari kemampuan komunikasi dan toleransi siswa, dan (2) Hasil uji lanjut menunjukkan bahwa model Cooperative Learning tipe TGT lebih efektif baik terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis maupun toleransi dibandingkan metode konvensional pada siswa kelas VIII SMPN 1 Sedayu.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an Android based Augmented Reality 3D Card Media on solid figures materials for the grade VI elementary school student, to describe the feasibility and the student responses on Android based Augmented Reality 3D Card Media on solid figures materials for the grade VI elementary school student. This study were Research and Development (R&D) with reference to the Borg & Gall model and which is modified into 7 steps, there are (1) research and initial information collection, (2) planning, (3) initial product development, (4) initial trial, (5) revision I, (6) field trials, (7) revision II. The initial trials is a validation of media experts and material experts. The field trials consisted of teacher trials and small group trials on 6 students in grade VI of SD Negeri 1 Gondangsari. The instrument data that were used to collect data were interview guides and questionnaires. The study results showed that the Android based Augmented Reality 3D Card Media consisted of ARB (Augmented Reality Bangun Ruang) application and the card as a marker and completed with a guidebook to facilitate the user. This Android based Augmented Reality 3D Card Media on solid figures materials meet the feasibility criteria as evidenced by the percentage score of the validation results form media experts 78,66%, material expert validation 85,33%, the teacher trials 90,66%, and the small group trials 94,22% accompanied by positive responses from the students. Therefore, the Android based Augmented Reality 3D Card Media on solid figures materials feasible used as alternative media on mathematics learning at pandemic COVID-19 era for the grade VI elementary school students to help learning everywhere and anytime by maximizing the technological developments.

Abstract

A person who can think critically in mathematics means having a high level of ability and is a fundamental ability that students must have to learn mathematics. The research aims to determine the influence of understanding the ARIAS model on students' critical thinking skills in terms of learning style. This type of research is quasi-experimental with a post-test nonequivalent control group design. The research population is a student majoring in mathematics education at Bina Bangsa University, then selected two classes as research subjects. The acquisition of data from mathematical critical thinking skills tests and learning style questionnaires was then processed with the ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) test. The results showed a significant difference in mathematical necessary thinking skills between students and ARIAS learning and ordinary learning and judging from students' learning styles. There was a substantial difference in mathematical critical thinking skills. Furthermore, it is known that there is an interaction between the type of learning and its learning style towards students' mathematical necessary thinking skills.

Abstract

The students lack of habit in critical thinking is the background in this research. Lack of abilities due to the use of conventional learning models, so that learning activities are passive. The purpose of this study was to determine whether heuristic learning with blended learning method had an effect on the critical thinking skills of eight grade students of SMPN 12 Yogyakarta. This research is a type of quasi experimental. The population in this study were student of class VIII SMPN 12 Yogyakarta. Where class VIII D is the control class and VIII E class is the experimental class. The object of this research is the use of a heuristic approach with the help of the blended learning method. Data collection was carried out using test techniques. The instrument use in collecting data about students critical thinking skills. The test instrument used is the content validity test. Data processing is done by using descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. Based on the research that has been done, this study shows that the use of a heuristic learning approach with the help of eighth grade students if SMP N 12 Yogyakarta. The result of this study can see from the result of tcount = 2.142 and ttable = 1.99 which means that tcount­ > ttable so it can be said if there is an effect of using a heuristic approach with the help of the blended learning method on student’s critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This research is a development research that aims to produce learning tools with Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. Learning tools developed in the form of Student Worksheets (LKPD). Mathematical material used in this study is social arithmetic material. This study uses an R & D development method with a 4-D model which has several stages, namely (1) Define , (2) Design , (3) Develop  , (3) Disseminate . The instrument for collecting research data was in the form of a student worksheet validation sheet which was validated by 2 lecturers of Mathematics Education FKIP UIR and 2 teachers of mathematics studies at SMPN 1 Siak Kecil and student response questionnaire sheets. The data collection technique used is the validity test of the student worksheets and the practicality test of the student worksheets. The analysis technique used is the validity technique and the practicality technique. From the results of the study, the results of the validation of the student worksheets were 92.44% with a very valid validation level. And the results of the practicality of student worksheets are 87.84% with a very practical level of practicality. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the development of Student Worksheets with the Problem Based Learning  (PBL) model on social arithmetic material in class VII SMP/MTs is very valid, very practical and suitable for use in the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategic competencies of prospective teacher students based on cognitive style and gender in formulating, representing and solving problems. This type of research was descriptive qualitative. The supporting instruments were the GEFT (Group Embedded Figure Test) and the task of mathematical non routine problem contained several mathematical concepts, namely circles, trigonometry, and triangles. The research subjects consisted of 2 males Field Independent (FI) and 2 females Field Independent (FI), 6 females Field Dependent (FD) and 4 males Field Dependent (FD). Data was collected through documentation of solving mathematical problem and interview results. The data validity method used method triangulation and referencial adequacy checks. Research datas were analyzed by reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. The results showed that  FI females and males  were more analytical than FD females and males. FI males and FI females both understood problem situations by drawing, but FI males recognized the circle concept more quickly and confidently than FI females. FI females were more analytical in the process of transferring problem situations into pictures than FI males. FI males and FI females both represented problem situations in pictures and symbols but FI females tended to have more logical pictures and symbols than FI males. FD females tended to understand problem situations by drawing more than FD males, therefore FD females were said to be more analytical in transferring problem situations into pictures compared to FD males. The four types of subjects did not arrive at a correct final solution.

Abstract

The connection between mathematics and adversity quotient (AQ) has an important role in a person's ability to make decisions to solve problems in life. One of the efforts to improve it is through the application of technology in learning. The Math-City Map (MCM)-assisted Problem-based learning (PBL) model is one of the learnings that utilizes technology combining the PBL model and MCM-assisted learning. This study aims to (1) the quality of learning with a problem-based learning model using a math city map on mathematical connection ability (KKM, (2) test the effect of AQ on students' mathematical connection ability in MCM-assisted PBL learning. This research is a mixed method research with an explanatory sequential design with a quantitative portion greater than qualitative. The population of this study was grade VII students of SMPN 2 Ambarawa. Qualitative data was taken based on students' AQ, namely the climber, camper, and quitter categories. Quantitative data analysis techniques with parametric statistics such as mean tests, classical due diligence, and regression tests. Qualitative data analysis techniques use data reduction, presentation, and conclusions. The results showed that (1) MCM-assisted PBL learning was effective in improving students' mathematical connections (2) there was an influence of AQ on students' mathematical connection abilities in MCM-assisted PBL learning
