Abstract

This research discussed about the credibility of Library staff at SMAN 1 Sindang, Indramayu. This research used Credibility Theory from Hovland, Janis, and Kelley (1953). The purpose of this research is to know the credibility of library staff trough three components:attractiveness, skill and trust. The method used in this research is qualitative method with case study. Data were obtained from observations, interviews, and literature searches. The informant are eight people include the head of library, two library staffs, and five students. The result of this research shows the library staffs at SMAN 1 Sindang have good enough credibility. The library staff attraction consist of two factors; 1) Internal factor that is application of instructional technique and human realtions in communicating with students that produce a good interpersonal communication, 2) External factor is promotion that library staffs did such as rewarding and library socialization. Library staffs skill at SMAN 1 Sindang include management, service, developing of library staff sistem based on management competence, information management competence, education competence, personality competence, social competence, and profession development competence. It can be concluded the attractiveness and skill is to be related each other to build trust that continuously produce library staffs credibility at SMAN 1 Sindang. Library staff credibility in SMAN 1 Sindang was influenced too by educational factor, experience, and communication style. Hopefully, this research can be reference for the government to keep upgrading the human resources at school library especially SMAN 1 Sindang.Penelitian ini menggambarkan kredibilitas tenaga perpustakaan SMA 1 Sindang, Indramayu. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori kredibilitas dari Hovland, Janis dan Kelley (1953). Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk mengetahui kredibilitas tenaga perpustakaan melalui tiga komponen: daya tarik, keahlian dan kepercayaan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah metode kualitatif melalui studi kasus. Data penelitian dihasilkan dari observasi, wawancara, dan studi literatur. Informan adalah 8 orang termasuk kepala perpustakaan, 2 tenaga perpustakaan dan 5 siswa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tenaga perpustakaan SMA 1 Sindang memiliki kredibilitas yang cukup bagus. Daya tenaga perpustakaan terdiri dari 2 faktor; 1) faktor internal yang diaplikasikan dari teknik instruksional dan hubungan manusia dalam komunikasi diantara siswa yang diproduksi melalui komunikasi interpersonal, 2) faktor eksternal ialah promosi yang dilakukan tenaga perpustakaan melalui penghargaan dan sosialisasi perpustakaan. Keahlian tenaga perpustakaan SMA 1 Sindang termasuk manajemen, pelayanan, pengembangan sistem tenaga perpustakaan berdasarkan manajemen kompetensi, manajemen kompetensi informasi, kompetensi pendidikan, kompetensi kepribadian, kompetensi sosial, dan pengembangan kompetensi profesi. Dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa daya tarik dan keahlian menjadi saling terhubung satu sama lain untuk membangun kepercayaan yang diproduksi terus menerus oleh kredibilitas tenaga perpustakaan SMA 1 Sindang. Kredibilitas tenaga perpustakaan di SMA 1 Sindang dipengaruhi juga melalui faktor pendidikan, pengalaman, dan gaya komunikasi. Harapannya, penelitian ini dapat menjadi rujukan bagi pemerintah untuk meningkatkan sumber daya manusia di Perpustakaan Sekolah khususnya SMA 1 Sindang.

Abstract

Learning library as the implementation of user education programs. Elementary school, school to school instead of working. Because students will go to school, then it should have the power to learn good. Before the entrance pupil at the level of information literacy, fundamental thing that is important implanted student interests and reading culture since the early entry into the system. The school library should be made good. Furthermore, to form a good reading habit can through the library learning program called "Know Reader". The goal, first technically skilled students know the information and to sort and select information in the library; secondly, to safeguard the assets of the library; Third, condition the students read and used to reading. Including the value of learning libraries into the local curriculum includes a written assessment report cards of students, exhibition of books in the school library every week, an award for academicians who borrowed the most books every month, tells the story hanging way, it makes the students love to read. At the elementary school level which would be built three, first learning culture, both learning skills, and the three basic skills that can be achieved through daily habituation.Pembelajaran perpustakaan sebagai implementasi dari program pendidikan pemakai. Sekolah Dasar, sekolah untuk sekolah bukan bekerja. Karena murid akan melanjutkan sekolah, maka harus mempunyai daya belajar yang baik. Sebelum murid masuk pada tingkat melek informasi, hal mendasar yang penting ditanamkan yaitu minat dan budaya baca murid sejak dini yang masuk ke dalam sistem. Perpustakaan sekolah harus dibuat bagus. Selanjutnya, untuk membentuk minat baca yang baik dapat melalui program pembelajaran perpustakaan bernama "Kenal Pustaka". Sasarannya, pertama secara teknis murid mengetahui informasi dan terampil memilah serta memilih informasi di perpustakaan; kedua, dapat menjaga aset perpustakaan; ketiga, mengondisikan para murid membaca dan terbiasa membaca. Memasukkan nilai pembelajaran perpustakaan ke dalam kurikulum muatan lokal termasuk penilaian tertulis dalam raport murid, pameran buku di perpustakaan sekolah setiap minggu, penghargaan bagi sivitas akademika yang meminjam buku terbanyak setiap bulannya, berkisah dengan cara menggantung ceritanya, semua itu membuat murid gemar membaca. Pada jenjang Sekolah Dasar yang hendak dibangun ada tiga, pertama budaya belajar, kedua keterampilan belajar, dan ketiga keterampilan dasar yang dapat dicapai melalui pembiasaan sehari-hari.

Abstract

Library activities that are directly felt by users are services, which are considered the spearhead of libraries. Guarantee and empathy aspects of the Servqual Model and effect of service aspects on the LibQual + TM model are all closely related to one of the factors, namely librarian language skills, both verbal and non-verbal. Moreover, users who have used these services can be effective promotional tools to affect other users through Word of Mouth (WOM) promotion. WOM in an Islamic perspective can mean ‘da'wah’, an invitation to do good. This study aimed to examine perceptions of satisfaction with the librarian language skills and their relationship with WOM among UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Library users. Librarian language skills are divided into two categories, namely verbal and non-verbal. Verbal aspects consist of vocal parameters, word selection, sentence structure, and convenience aspects to be understood. Non-verbal aspects include gesture parameters, body position, tone, and intonation. The research method used survey method with a total sample of 400 users. Determination of the number of samples was performed by Slovin method and selected by accidental sampling technique. Results showed, Consumer Satisfaction Index (CSI) for verbal communication was 3.325, and non-verbal communication was 3.253. Both were in the "moderate" satisfaction range on a scale of 5. More than 22% of satisfied and very satisfied users stated that their satisfaction would continue with various WOM activities to invite others to visit the library. This shows the influence of satisfaction with WOM activities, although still on a small scale.

Abstract

Relationship between parenting style and children’s reading interest is the title of this research, subbed with “Explanatory survey at Al-Ma’soem Junior High School, Sumedang”.This research is aimed to know is there any relationship between parenting style and children’s reading interest. Method used is quantitative with explanatory survey, that is directed to pay attention on the cases in certain situations and conditions present in the community, and its explanation by conducting a survey analysis that is designed to answer the question in the form why. Data collection techniques used questionnaires, observation, interview and litterature study. The sampling techniques used are simple random sampling. Data collection using questionnaires distributed to 89 respondents who are Al- Ma'soem junior high school students. The analysis technique used in this research is descriptive data analysis and inferential analysis. For inferential analysis used rank Spearman correlation test. Recommendation from this Result of this study showed a correlations between parenting style and children’s reading interest. Recommendation suggested from this research in terms of the children’s reading interest, parents apply control and warmth equally high is the most effective way to improve children’s reading interest.Penelitian ini berjudul hubungan antara pola asuh orang tua dengan minat baca anak dengan sub judul survey eksplanasi di Sekolah Menengah Pertama Al-Ma’soem, Sumedang.Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui adakah hubungan antara pola asuh orang tua dengan minat baca anak. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan format survey eksplanasi, yaitu penelitian yang diarahkan untuk memperhatikan mengenai kasus-kasus yang terjadi pada situasi dan kondisi tertentu masa kini di dalam masyarakat, dan penjelasannya dengan melakukan survey analisis yang di rancang untuk menjawab pertanyaan yang berbentuk mengapa.Teknik pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan kuesioner, observasi, wawancara, dan studi kepustakaan.Teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara sampel acak sederhana. Proses pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner yang disebarkan kepada 89 responden yang merupakan murid SMP Al-Ma’soem. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah teknik analisis data deskriptif dan analisis inferensial. Untuk analisis inferensial digunakan uji korelasi rank Spearman. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan adanya hubungan antara pola asuh orang tua dengan minat baca anak. Saran dari penelitian ini dilihat dari segi minat baca anak yaitu pola pengasuhan orang tua yang sangat efektif untuk meningkatkan minat baca anak adalah pola pengasuhan yang menerapkan dimensi kontrol dan kehangatan sama-sama tinggi.

Abstract

This study aims to map out the scope of information the livelihoods of the rural poor, which include: the type of major need, the search pattern related information specific type of job, the variety of information livelihoods are looking for, the relationship between the rural poor, sources of information, channel information, and the nature of sources and channels of information in question. By using qualitative methods, especially the tradition of phenomenology of Schutz, the result that: (1) the type of the primary needs of the rural poor consist of food, clothing, shelter, health, and education are very simple; (2) a variety of livelihood information sought by the rural poor who work odd nature, derived from the interpersonal sources that are informal, with a limited scope, ie, neighbors, relatives, customers, and the kind of fellow workers; (3) the source and drain are derived from official media and technology based, hardly ever used; and (4) The formal elements that come from the government side, barely touched the interests of the rural poor.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memetakan lingkup informasi penghidupan orang miskin pedesaan, yang meliputi: jenis kebutuhan utama, pola pencarian informasi terkait jenis pekerjaan spesifik, ragam informasi penghidupan yang dicari, hubungan antar orang miskin pedesaan, sumber-sumber informasi, saluran informasi, dan sifat dari sumber dan saluran informasi dimaksud. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif khususnya tradisi fenomenologi dari Schutz, diperoleh hasil bahwa: (1) jenis kebutuhan utama orang miskin pedesaan terdiri atas kebutuhan pangan, sandang, papan, kesehatan, dan pendidikan yang sangat sederhana; (2) beragam informasi penghidupan yang dicari oleh orang miskin pedesaan yang sifat pekerjaannya serabutan, berasal dari sumber orang secara interpersonal yang bersifat informal, dengan lingkup yang terbatas, yakni tetangga, kerabat, pelanggan, dan sesama pekerja sejenis; (3) sumber dan saluran yang berasal dari media resmi dan yang berbasis teknologi, hampir tidak pernah digunakan; dan (4) unsur-unsur formal yang datangnya dari sisi pemerintah, hampir tidak menyentuh kepentingan orang-orang miskin pedesaan.

Abstract

The purpose of doing this research is to know the information necessity of teenager’s lifestyle about fashion in 21 state junior high school of Bekasi. This research was doing on December 2013 until March 2014. This research using qualitative method to explore and understand the sense of information necessity of teenager’s lifestyle about fashion. This research process was doing from the process of information necessity  of  teenager’s  observe from an individual internal factor until the fulfillment necessity efforts about to information teenager’s lifestyle observation from individual external factor aggregation technique of data is using observation interview, and research study. The result from the research know about the student has followed the information about fashion development   by   internet,   they   can fulfill necessity them information. The conclusion from this research there are: 1. generally the student automatically looked for information whatever their necessity to support in lifestyle; 2. generally they filtered the appropriate information with culture where they are from; 3. Motive the student in fulfill information necessity usually   they   want   to   know from internet or other media; 4. Connection of teenager’s and other people around them also influence the teenager’s and other people around them also influence the teenager’s in fulfill the  necessity  of  their information.Tujuan melakukan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kebutuhan informasi gaya hidup remaja tentang fashion di SMP Negeri 21 Bekasi. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada Desember 2013 sampai Maret 2014. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif untuk menggali dan memahami arti kebutuhan informasi gaya hidup remaja tentang fashion. Proses penelitian ini dilakukan melalui proses kebutuhan informasi dari mengamati remaja berdasarkan faktor internal individu sampai upaya pemenuhan kebutuhan akan observasi gaya hidup informasi remaja dari teknik agregasi faktor eksternal individu menggunakan wawancara observasi, dan studi penelitian. Hasil dari penelitian mengetahui siswa telah mengikuti informasi tentang perkembangan fashion dari internet, itu dapat memenuhi kebutuhan informasi mereka. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu: 1. umumnya siswa secara otomatis mencari informasi apapun kebutuhan mereka untuk mendukung gaya hidup; 2. umumnya mereka menyaring informasi yang sesuai dengan budaya darimana mereka berasal; 3. biasanya motif siswa memenuhi kebutuhan informasi mereka ingin tahu dari internet atau media lainnya; 4. Keterkaitan remaja dan orang-orang lain di sekitar mereka juga mempengaruhi memenuhi kebutuhan informasi mereka.

Abstract

Selection of library materials is an important activity which aims to determine the selection of library materials based on characteristics and needs of users. Library selection activities are conducted by professional librarians who have the ability to develop collections. Due to the importance of library materials selection activities, the researcher conducted a study at the Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan 1 Pacitan Library. This study aimed to describe the principles of the librarian in the library material selection process at the library of Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan 1 Pacitan. The study used the descriptive qualitative method, with sampling using the purposive sampling technique to the librarian and non-librarian at the Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan 1 Pacitan Library. The data collection technique in this study used the semi-structured interview instruments. The researcher used the scope of library material selection principles consisting of the traditionalist, liberal and pluralistic view. According to the liberal view; the study results showed that librarians were not able to market the library through the approach to students. To the traditionalist view, the main principle in meeting the needs of students was based on the quality of library materials. While the pluralistic view suggested that most students were not satisfied with the literature available at the Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan 1 Pacitan Library. Based on that, the Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan 1 Pacitan Library has applied the traditionalist principles which can be seen from the quality of library materials that will be accessible to the students.

Abstract

This script describes the results of the research entitled “the role of school libraries in attempt to increase the cultural habits of reading” Madrasah Aliyah grade students in Yapinda Nurul Huda)”, This script aims to determine the role of the library consists of four components, librarian, col- lection, management of the library, and the interior to increasing the reading habits students of Madrasah Aliyah in Yapinda Nurul Huda). This study used a descriptive method where the researcher distributed the questionnaires, interviews, observa- tion and study of literature. The results of the study can be said that the librarian in the library Yapinda Nurul Huda has a role in promoting a culture habits of reading students, the collection at the library Yapinda Nurul Huda has a role in promoting a culture fond of reading students, and library mana- gement in libraries Yapinda Nurul Huda has a role in promoting a culture fond of reading students, and libraries in the library layout Yapinda Nurul Huda have a role in improving students' reading culture likes.  Penelitian ini berjudul “Peranan Perpustakaan Sekolah Dalam Meningkatkan Budaya Gemar Membaca” (Studi Deskriptif tentang Peranan Perpustakaan Sekolah dalam Meningkatkan Budaya Gemar Membaca Siswa Madrasah Aliyah di Yayasan Pendidikan Islam Nurul Huda)” ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran perpustakaan yang terdiri dari empat komponen, yaitu pustakawan, koleksi, manajemen pengelolaan dan tata ruang dalam meningkatkan budaya gemar membaca siswa Madrasah Aliyah di Yayasan Pendidikan Islam Nurul Huda). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan adalah dengan cara menyebar angket, wawancara, observasi dan studi literatur. Hasil penelitian dapat dikatakan bahwa pustakawan di perpustakaan Yapinda Nurul Huda mempunyai peran dalam meningkat- kan budaya gemar membaca siswa, koleksi di perpustakaan Yapinda Nurul Huda mempunyai peranan dalam meningkatkan budaya gemar membaca siswa, pengelolaan perpustakaan di perpustakaan Yapinda Nurul Huda mempunyai peranan dalam meningkatkan budaya gemar membaca siswa, dan tata ruang perpustakaan di perpustakaan Yapinda Nurul Huda mempunyai peranan dalam meningkatkan budaya gemar membaca siswa.

Abstract

The communication style is defined as a specialized set of interpersonal behaviours that are used in a given situation. Every leader has a communication style that is different in moving the organization to achieve the goals of the organization and every leader will build their own style. This study examines the effect of communication styles of the leadership, formally or informally, to employee performance improvement in the Technical Executing Unit of ITB Library. The method used is an explanatory survey and the data collection techniques used are questionnaires, interviews, observation, and literature study. Target population in this study is all of staffs in the Technical Executing Unit of ITB Library by using hypothesis testing using path analysis (path analysis). The results of this study indicate that the communication styles of the leadership, both formally and informally, include downward communication, upward communication and horizontal communication, influence on employee performance improvement in the Technical Executing Unit of ITB Library. If the communication activities frequency is increased (formal and informal communication), the employee’s performance will increase. If the communication activities frequency is reduced (formal and informal communication), the employee's performance will decrease. The informal communication has a greater influence on employee performance. This means that the higher the leadership’s informal communication to the employee, the higher the employee's performance.Gaya komunikasi didefinisikan sebagai seperangkat perilaku antar pribadi yang terspesialisasi yang di gunakan dalam situasi tertentu. Setiap pimpinan memiliki gaya komunikasi yang berbeda-beda dalam menggerakkan organisasinya untuk mencapai tujuan organisasi dan setiap pimpinan akan membangun gayanya sendiri-sendiri. Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang pengaruh gaya komunikasi pimpinan secara formal maupun informal terhadap peningkatan kinerja pegawai di UPT Perpustakaan ITB. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah survey eksplanatory, dengan teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah angket, wawancara, observasi, dan studi kepustakaan. Populasi sasaran pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh pegawai di lingkungan UPT Perpustakaan ITB dengan pengujian hipotesis menggunakan analisis jalur (path analysis). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa gaya komunikasi pimpinan baik komunikasi formal dan komunikasi informal  yang meliputi komunikasi ke bawah, komunikasi ke atas dan komunikasi horisontal, berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan kinerja pegawai di UPT Perpustakaan ITB. Jika aktivitas komunikasi (komunikasi formal dan informal) volume frekuensinya bertambah maka kinerja pegawai akan meningkat. Jika aktivitas komunikasi (komunikasi formal dan informal) volume frekuensinya berkurang, maka kinerja pegawai akan menurun. Komunikasi informal tampak memiliki pengaruh yang lebih besar terhadap kinerja pegawai. Artinya semakin tinggi komunikasi informal yang dilakukan pimpinan terhadap pegawai, semakin tinggi kinerja pegawai.

Abstract

The school library is not yet a favorite place for elementary school students. Many  factors have contributed to this, among other the types of books available, unreliable library time, non-permanent librarians, even the scorn of friends who think of reading in the library as behavior that pretending to diligent. Many factors have contributed to this, such as the types of books available, unreliable library time, non-permanent librarians, even the scorn of friends who think of reading in the library as pretending to be diligent and smart, which cause students to be reluctant to regularly visit the library. Hence, classroom teachers need to reaffirm the library functions and persuade students to visit and utilize facilities in the library. This article presents the evaluation results of students attitude after receiving information about the library described by the classroom teacher. The method used in this study was descriptive study, with fourth-grade students of an elementary primary school as the object, data collection techniques used questionnaires, and data analysis used a single tabulation based on quantitative data. The results showed that students had a better attitude toward school libraries, from the cognitive aspects were such as knowledge, trust, and assessment, and the affective as well as conative aspects. Therefore, it is expected that schools through the classroom teacher can intensively spread information about the function of school libraries, and improve library facilities and services to the students, so they are accustomed to using the library as a first step in forming the love-literacy generation.
