Abstract

The sudden occurrence of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) has affected the education sector in Indonesia. The Indonesian government responded to this matter and issued a policy on the implementation of distance learning or known as the school from home. School from home has been applied to all education levels in Indonesia, including primary schools. This qualitative case study investigates the implementation of school from home in English for young learners' classrooms at a primary school in Indonesia. The data was collected through online classroom observation in second, fourth, and sixth-grade classrooms and interviews with five English teachers who taught in first until sixth-grade classrooms. Data from the interview were analyzed using thematic analysis, resulting in three generated themes on the implementation of school from home in English for young learners' classrooms. The themes include teachers' readiness to implement school from home, teachers' strategies to implement online learning as part of the school from home, and teachers' strategies to overcome challenges in online learning. The results of the study indicated that the implementation of school from home requires thorough preparation and has the potential to be implemented in English for young learners' classrooms, especially in the upper-grade classrooms of primary schools.

Abstract

Perilaku bullying atau perundungan secara fisik, verbal dan mental yang dilakukan peserta didik, kerap menjadi fenomena yang sering terjadi di dalam lingkungan lembaga pendidikan dimulai dari kasus sepele hingga serius. Dalam sumber data aduan KPAI tahun 2021 terdapat 574 kasus penganiayaan dan 515 kasus kekerasan psikis. Padahal sudah terdapat UU No 23 pasal 54 Tahun 2002 yang menjelaskan bahwa: “Anak di dalam dan di lingkungan sekolah wajib dilindungi dari Tindakan kekerasan yang dilakukan oleh guru, pengelola sekolah atau teman-temannya di dalam sekolah yang bersangkutan atau Lembaga Pendidikan lainnya”. Oleh karena itu, perilaku bullying juga termasuk sebagai stimulus sesama peserta didik mengakibatkan respon terhadap perubahan tingkah laku ke arah negatif, dapat dicirikan secara langsung seperti penurunan aspek akademis dan aspek psikologis. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk untuk menganalisis perubahan tingkah laku sebagai respon yang dimbulkan terhadap stimulus perilaku bullying di lingkungan sekolah. Metode penelitian dalam penelitian ini yakni dengan menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif untuk mendeskripsikan fenomena perilaku bullying di kelas VI C Madrasah Ibtidaiyah yang berjumlah 17 siswa melalui instrument kuisioner, wawancara dan observasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan perilaku bullying yang terdapat pada siswa kelas VI C di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah kerap terjadi dalam bentuk verbal dan fisik secara seperti memukul ringan atau “mentonyol”. Sebagai respon psikologis, para korban bullying di sekolah mengalami perubahan perilaku negatif seperti sedih, marah, minder dan pendiam. Sedangkan, dalam aspek akademis dijumpai bahwa hasil evaluasi belajar Siswa kelas VI C pada mata pelajaran tematik Tema 7 Subtema 1 dan 2 menunjukan hasil dinamis atau fluktuatif. Sehingga, dapat disimpulkan bahwa sudut pandang filsafat bahaviorisme dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengamati perubahan tingkah laku sebagai respon yang muncul bagi korban bullying khususnya bagi siswa kelas VI C Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Darussalam Plaosan.

Abstract

AbstractPenerapan model pembelajaran kontekstual dilatarbelakangi oleh observasi aktivitas keterampilan dasar dalam pembelajaran Aircraft Electrical. Penggunaan alat ukur listrik dan elektronika pada peserta-didik kelas XI-EA SMKN 12 Bandung Tahun Pelajaran 2019/2020 menghadapi beberapa kendala. Hal ini berdampak pada hasil belajar peserta-didik dimana hanya 48,6% peserta-didik yang mencapai Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimum (KKM). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat profil kegiatan pembelajaran yang akan digunakan dalam penyusunan rencana perbaikan pembelajaran guna meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta-didik.Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) empat siklus dengan beberapa fase yang terdiri dari: merencanakan, bertindak, mengamati, dan merefleksi. Berdasarkan hasil praktik, observasi, dan refleksi dalam penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa dalam fase observasi lapangan Siklus IV terdapat 89,29% (skala 100) jumlah peserta-didik yang aktif melalui kegiatan pembelajaran kontekstual. Melalui tes formasi yang dilakukan pada setiap siklus, terdapat peningkatan hasil pre-test ke hasil post-test. Hasil ulangan harian pada kompetensi dasar peserta-didik menunjukkan bahwa 100% siswa memperoleh nilai 70%, dan nilai rata-ratanya adalah 86,58, sangat tinggi. Keywords: Model Kontekstual, PTK, hasil belajar peserta-didik. AbstractThe application of the contextual learning model is initiated by the observation of basic skill activities in Aircraft Electrical learning. The use of electrical and electronic measuring instruments in class XI-EA SMKN 12 Bandung in the 2019/2020 academic year faces several obstacles. This has an impact on student learning outcomes where only 48.6% of students achieve the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM). This study aims to create a profile of learning activities that will be used in the preparation of learning improvement plans in order to improve student learning outcomes.The method used in this research is a four-cycle Class Action Research (CAR) with several phases consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Based on the results of practice, observation, and reflection in this study, it was found that in the field observation phase of Cycle IV, there were 89.29% (scale of 00) of students were active through contextual learning activities. Through the formation test conducted in each cycle, there was an increase in the results of the pre-test to the results of the post-test. The results of the daily test on students' basic competencies showed that 100% of students got a score of 70%, and the average score was 86.58, very high. Keywords: Contextual Model, CAR, student learning result.

Abstract

Exploring teacher professional development requires two main teaching factors in the digital era. They are internal factors and external. In internal, the teacher plays an essential role in developing professionalism in teaching. In shallow, it is teaching instruments – lesson plans. The appropriate English teacher and lesson plan development contribute significantly to teaching achievement. Therefore, this study explores how English teachers implement technological pedagogical and content knowledge to improve their English instructional assessments in teacher professional development. Implementing technical pedagogical and content knowledge in teacher professional development can gradually enhance their English instructional evaluations. They have different language competencies backgrounds by progressively implementing technological pedagogical and content knowledge in teacher professional development. Still, they can improve their English instructional assessments. The study uses a survey: a questionnaire, interviews, and observation are applied to find the data. The subjects are English teachers who joined teacher professional development in Surabaya 2020. The research results showed that implementing technological pedagogical and content knowledge can improve English instructional assessments in teacher professional development. Three factors contribute to integrating English instructional assessment with technical pedagogical and content knowledge. English teachers are more comfortable making English instructional assessments, alternative instructional English evaluations are available, and improved English instructional reviews. Therefore, English instructional evaluations are more exciting and challenging. Thus, integrating English instructional assessments with technological pedagogical and content knowledge in teacher professional development is crucial in improving teaching English in Indonesia.

Abstract

Students’ anxiety, speaking performance and their relation to genders have been investigated extensively in the EFL context and most participants are English students, but most of the studies with the same variables were conducted in an offline setting. Thus, the purpose of this research is to describe the anxiety levels of students who studied another language than English in learning English and to investigate the relationship between their anxiety and performance in English-speaking classes. By employing a quantitative approach, 32 male and 66 female Sundanese Language and Culture Study Program students whose anxiety levels were assessed using Horwitz et al.’s (1986) Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) participated voluntarily in the research. Because the data were normally distributed and homogenous, the obtained data were analyzed using parametric statistical tools; independent t-test and Pearson Product Moment Correlation. The results imply that the majority of the participants’ anxiety levels were moderate, and there was no statistical difference in students’ anxiety levels between male and female students. Further exploration of the relationship between the anxiety levels of the students and their speaking performance was weak and negative (r = -0.12, p .68). Thus, the online and offline foreign language classroom settings do not seem to differentiate students’ anxiety levels for both male and female students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the efficacy of implementing cooperative scripts to improve students’ reading comprehension of narrative texts in the first grade at SMAN 8 South Tangerang during the 2020/21 academic year. This study includes 39 students from X Science 1 and 39 from X Science 2 as samples. The English test results of the students measure the success of this study. Based on the stated purpose, the researcher designed a quasi-experimental study. After taking the English Test, the student acquired reading comprehension skills. The examination was based on the tenth-grade English textbook. Through pre-test and post-test, the researcher obtained the results. The researcher in the data analysis procedure utilized normality, homogeneity, and a T-test. The examination of the data revealed a substantial difference between the reading comprehension achievement of students in experimental classes, which were taught using the Cooperative Script technique, and students in control classes, who were not. It might be seen by comparing the pre-test and post-test results of students. The experimental class had a mean pre-test score of 59.69 and a post-test score of 73.94. In contrast, the mean score on the pretest for the control group was 58.87, while the mean score on the posttest was 70.41.

Abstract

There is an urgency in education to situate literacy instruction in practices that are responsive to the globalized, multilingual world we live in. The New London Group (1996) has predicted the situation and conceptualized multiliteracies, which view literacy as supplemental, continual, and modifying established literacy teaching and learning rather than replacing traditional teaching and learning practices (Rowsell, Kosnik, Beck, 2008). With the pandemic Covid-19 outbreaks, all schools were forced to be online, encompassing the principles of more than just a traditional literacy pedagogy. Thus, this study aims to see types of teaching and learning resources and pedagogical acts conducted in the classroom seen from multiliteracies perspective during the online classroom. This qualitative study explored the teaching and learning resources and the pedagogical acts based on the multiliteracy pedagogy perspective. The data was collected from classroom observation, interview with the teacher and document analysis. The results showed that the teacher in this study mostly focused on Situated Practice and Overt Instruction in teaching narrative texts in an online classroom. This indicated that the teaching and learning practices only focused on the knowledge process of experiencing and conceptualising. The teacher did not really promote the process of analysing-both functionally and critically- and applying creatively. Keywords: Multiliteracies, Narrative texts, COVID-19, English for Young learners

Abstract

Berbagai interpretasi (penafsiran) yang menghadirkan manusia dengan kedirian yang tidak konkret, baik karena pemahaman yang universal maupun yang abtraktif, harus segera diperbaiki dan digantikan dengan interpretasi (penafsiran) yang bisa menyelamatkan eksistensi manusia sebagai individu. Untuk memenuhi tuntutan ini, perlu diungkap dan dikaji kembali makna eksistensi manusia yang dapat dijadikan objek formal guna memotret, menganalisis dan memperbaiki realitas interpretatif (kenyataan tafsir) tentang manusia sebagai objek materialnya. Pemikiran tentang ‘individu’ sebagai eksistensi dari manusia yang pernah dilontarkan oleh Søren Aabye Kierkegaard, seorang filsuf berkebangsaan Denmark, merupakan paradigma yang fasilitatif (memadai) untuk dapat memperbaiki interpretasi (penafsiran) tentang manusia sekaligus memberikan kontribusi terhadap proses pendidikan dalam memahami karakteristik dan keunikan individulitas dalam khazanah pembelajaran di Indonesia.Kata Kunci : Eksistensialisme, Individualitas Manusia, Pendidikan

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada pembelajaran IPA dengan menggunakan Model Role Playing. Penelitian ini dimulai dengan kegiatan pra-tindakan untuk merumuskan permasalahan dan membuat perencanaan tindakan pembelajaran. Selama penelitian, data diperoleh melalui tes hasil belajar, observasi, dan angket. Instrumen utama dalam penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri yang dilengkapi dengan instrumen lain berupa lembar observasi. Alat evaluasi yang digunakan adalah tes pilihan ganda dan uraian untuk menjaring hasil belajar siswa sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran dengan Model Role Playing.Berdasarkan hasil analisis terhadap implementasi Model Role Playing pada pembelajaran IPA, ditemukan bahwa model tersebut mampu meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Penggunaan Model Role Playing pada materi "Pencemaran Lingkungan" dapat mempercepat proses peningkatan hasil belajar siswa. Pada siklus 1, hasil tes menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata harian tertinggi adalah 100 dan terendah adalah 40, dengan rata-rata 70.00. Jumlah siswa yang mencapai ketuntasan belajar sebanyak 17 orang atau 31.25%. Namun, hasil ini perlu ditingkatkan pada siklus 2.Pada siklus 2, terjadi peningkatan yang signifikan pada rata-rata kelas. Hasil tes menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata harian tertinggi adalah 100 dan terendah adalah 50, dengan rata-rata 80.93. Jumlah siswa yang mencapai ketuntasan belajar meningkat menjadi 30 orang atau 93.75%. Oleh karena itu, pembelajaran yang menggunakan Model Role Playing diakhiri pada siklus 2 karena pemahaman dan hasil belajar siswa telah meningkat.Selain itu, hasil angket menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa setuju bahwa penggunaan Model Role Playing mampu meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada pembelajaran IPA, dengan persentase 83.45%. Namun, sebagian kecil siswa menyatakan ketidaksukaan pada pelajaran IPA dan kesulitan memahami materi pelajaran.Dalam keseluruhan penelitian, Model Role Playing terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada pembelajaran IPA Materi Pokok Pencemaran Lingkungan di X Bandung Tahun Pelajaran 2021/2022. Oleh karena itu, Model Role Playing dapat direkomendasikan sebagai metode pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada pembelajaran IPA.Kata Kunci: Model Role Playing, hasil belajar siswa, pembelajaran IPA, pencemaran lingkungan, tes hasil belajar.

Abstract

Cooperative learning is a learning model that demands more student interaction working together in groups to improve student academic achievement. One of the cooperative learning models is the jigsaw learning model, which is a learning model that directs students to communicate with each other by giving assignments so that students have a responsibility to their peers. This study aims to determine trends and research focus on the publication of the jigsaw learning model in economics learning which then obtains the distribution for 2004 - 2022. Data collection techniques are done by downloading files on the dimensions database to see trends in publications with the largest number of documents, classification of institution rankings or universities, countries, journals, and documents, and the use of shared keywords. The method used is bibliometric analysis. A total of 46 documents collected through the dimensions database were then put together in 1 file in csv format and entered into the VOSviewer application to get network visualization and overlay visualization. The study results show that the trend of publications related to the jigsaw learning model in economics studies has increased yearly. The documents with the highest number are in the "International Journal of Educational Research Review" with a total of 4 documents, then in the Berlyana Purwaningsih article (2019) with the title "Experimentation of STAD and Jigsaw Learning Models on Learning Achievements in terms of Learning Motivation" with a total 15 citations. Activity is the most used keyword jigsaw together with 16 events. Based on the keywords that have been visualized, several keywords have become trends. Research focuses on jigsaw learning models in economic learning, namely economic, activity, education, achievement, university, student activity, teacher, teaching, cooperative learning, cost, economic learning outcome, pedagogical approach, experience, competence sustainability, interest, critical thinking, entrepreneurship, environment, innovation, students perception and technology.
