Abstract

This research is aimed to develop a model of underarm passing in volleyball through traditional game’s basic movement approach. The method used for this learning method development is Research and Development (R & D) Development Method. By choosing SMPN III Parongpong in West Bandung Regency as the location of this study, this study is done through 8 stages: first, determining idea to develop; second, producing a design; third, evaluating,  improving and completing the text; forth, revising a product by the expert; fifth, a prototype  product done by taking product picture; sixth, prototype test, the test of subject field both in stage I and stage II test; seventh, revising a second product of which revision was done by an expert; eighth, producting a complete  to be the final product. From those stages, the result of the study is gained by first stage evaluation analysis of ten products. The total respondent score is resulted with data number = 123. Therefore, effectiveness of new teaching method in total = 123 : 144= 0,85 or 85%  from the expected criteria and based on stage II evaluation analysis by using numbered final product, the total respondent score is resulted with data number = 246. Therefore, the total effectiveness of teaching method = 246 : 288 = 0,85 or 85% from the expected criteria to fulfill valid criteria. Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that: (1) Underarm passing learning model in volleyball through gatrik traditional game approach in SMPN 3 Parongpong is needed by Physical Education teachers and improving the learning process of underarm passing effectively and efficiently. (2) Application of the developed learning model will make students more motivated in joining learning process.

Abstract

Filipino games are integral part of our physical education curriculum. They are meant to promote fitness while preserving and promoting their cultural value. The Physical Education class is expected to provide venue and opportunities for students to enjoy and appreciate cultural games while understanding the Philippine heritage in general. However, the impact of globalization in many of our ways forced Filipinos to embrace both foreign and technology based games and physical activities. It can be observed that many of our cultural games slowly losses their place in the playing arena of many children specially those who lives in the urban areas. The study revisited and recorded some unexplored Kapampangan versions of some Filipino cultural games enjoyed in the past. Interview, brainstorming, participant observation and video recording were used to achieve the objective of the study which is descriptive and ethnographic in nature. Purposive sampling was utilized to select elderly Kapampangans who became the primary source of information. Physical Education teachers were also used to evaluate the potential of the games for P.E class utilization. The games were described as to; Title of the game, Fitness components, Pre-games, Players, Equipment, Playing Area, Objectives and Procedure. The 20 collected games were classified accordingly. The study proves that it is not yet late to start reviving the cultural games and if properly presented, they can be used in improving fitness and promoting social values and awareness. It is recommended that schools should start to organize their own cultural game festival. Government and non-government organizations could also support similar endeavors to fully preserve and promote the collected cultural games.

Abstract

Existing researches about the attributes of the Filipino learners   are found to be fragmented and limited to a particular grade level and learning areas. This condition indicates the dearth of studies as regards the developmental characteristics of the Filipino learners.  The learners’ attributes and developmental characteristics are important data in drawing program standards and learning area competencies in educational practice. This research explores the physical attributes of Filipino learners with the end view that such characteristics will provide data for developmental tasks of Filipino children. Various theories and expert’s assumptions guided this research. Gallahue propelled the physical attributes of the learners. Using the case study method with research techniques such as interview of students, teachers and parents, observation and survey of teachers, result reveal that Filipino learners can be at par with the characteristics and developmental tasks presented by educational theorist except in physical education where learners are lower by one year in the developmental attributes presented by Gallahue. A number of tasks of Filipino learners are shown within the context of Filipino culture and realities. For instance, developmental characteristics of Filipino learners are different from the western attributes because they were observed using our own Philippine context. Since this research is exploratory, new areas of study have emerged. The physical attributes may be explored not only in Physical Education classes but also in learning areas such as arts, playing of musical instruments or industrial arts. The cognitive dimension may be studied through the language used by the children. Similarly, moral, social and emotional components may be studied through language, stories and everyday life situations of children. Studies comparing the developmental characteristics of children and the competencies of various learning areas in the K-12 curriculum may also be investigated.

Abstract

This research is to development learning model smash volleyball based multiple training in State University of Medan. This method was research and development/R & D proposed by Borg and Gall (2005). Based on trial results found, multiple based learning model increaset the skill of volley ball smash technique mastery at faculty of Sport Science of Medan Stated University. Multiple training based learning model is wearing 7 group, and 21 forms of learning. 21 models of learning based training deemed necessary multiple training applied in each learning smash volleyball. The results of this the new model of learning assessment indicators is more effective than the old one. The average effectiveness of the attitudes perfect/SS indicator is older models of learning is 78.33% and 86.67% of new models of learning. The average of effectiveness in SW indicator is older models of learning is 73.33% and 80.00% of new models of learning. The average effectiveness of the NT indicator on older models of learning is 71.67% and 85.00% of new models of learning. The average effectiveness of the indicators of SA on the old model of learning is 70.00% and 78.33% of new models of learning. Learning outcomes (average of all indicators) that reach increased from 73.33% to 82.50%. It can be concluded that multiple training based learning model more effective than the old learning model.
