At the school level in Malaysia, theimplementation of the National Education Assessment System (NEAS) hasemphasized the approach of assessment for learning and assessment of learning. Theproblem arises because bothapproaches in assessment are teacher-centred,whereteachers are the appraiser. It should be a learning assessment (assessment aslearning) and character assessment because this approach focuses on the role ofstudents as the appraiser. Hence, the need for assessment practices that emphasizefour approaches to learning (for, as, of and character) known as learningassessments. It aims to help improve the quality of students from a variety of aspects, including learning and their own potential. Abstract

AbstrakPersoalan sering diutarakan mengenai bagaimana pembelajaran ditingkatkan.

Abstract

AbstracThe objective of this study is to create a learning model of presenting scientific article in Seminar on ELT as a subject. The population of the study are 29 students who took Seminar on ELT at 2014/2015 academic year. The technique of collecting data is to record the students’ oral presentation of scientific article in Seminar on ELT which cover pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. The collected data were analyzed by giving scores based on each component criteria. The research findings are as follows: pronunciation (41%) in category of 3 (foreign accent required), grammar (58.62%) in category of 4 (occasional errors), vocabulary (44.82%) in category of 4 (professional vocabulary), fluency (51.71%) in category of 5 (effortless and smooth speech), and comprehension (41.37%) in category of 4 (quite well normal educated speech). In conclusion, the majority of the students’ ability in oral presentation of scientific article are in the category of 4 among five components of oral presentation. The implication of the findings are those of the presentation components should be well taught in Speaking and Seminar on ELT classes. Keywords: Oral Presentation of Scientific Article, Speaking and Seminar on ELT

Abstract

Abstract This study analyzes the physics learning tool at high school grade X based curriculum 2013 that consists of nine Basic Competencies. The analyzed learning tools are lesson plan, student worksheet and assessment instruments of learning results. The learning tools are prepared by teachers of school that implements curriculum 2013. The assesment uses assessment sheets of lesson plan, student worksheet, and assessment instruments of learning results. The quality of learning tool is determined by the obtained scores from the assessment results, if the scores obtained equal to or bigger than 70 the learning tools are qualified. The analysis result shows that lesson plan, student worksheet and assessment instruments of learning results obtained score below 70. Thus the physics learning tools at high school grade X are less qualified for all Basic Competencies. Keywords: learning tools , curriculum 2013

Abstract

AbstractEnvironmental knowledge alone does not guarantee a positive behaviour towards the environment in the absence of awareness and appreciation for the environment. The question is, how to raise environmental awareness? Thus, this study aims to instil environmental awareness throughEnvironmental Self-Application Study (KAKAS). The study was conducted on 27 graduate students who are school teachers. The participants conducted KAKAS activities throughout one semester. Kakas was run through six steps, namely 1) Identifying wasteful practices in everyday life, 2) Planning self-study that can solve the problem in step 1, 3) Conducting independent scientific and systematic research according to their creativity, 4) Data collected ≥ 3 times with proofs 5) Sharing of independent research through poster presentations, 6) Summarizing the results of the impact study of environmental sustainability in everyday life. Each of the study participants were asked to reflect on the activities that has been done throughout the semester. The study found that KAKAS activities has been able to: 1) increase participants environmental awareness through the awareness on waste, 2) impress the participants for these activities could contribute to the environment, 3) increase concerns for the environment, 4) increase responsibility towards the environment, 5) instil awareness of the needs for conserving natural resources, 6) each individual is able to give contribution to the environment, 7) environmental care as a sign of gratitude to the Creator.KAKAS brings implications on environmental awareness which in turn can lead to the appreciation and positive action on the environment. This is important to be instilled in teachers because they are role models to students. Hopefully, this awareness can be delivered to their students throughout their studies.key Words: environmental awareness, reflection, teachers’ awareness, self-study

Abstract

Abstract The objectives of this paper were to find out and analyze the concept of significant learning appropriately which could support higher education involvement to prepare students to adapt in educational community. Descriptive-qualitative approach was used in this paper. The result of the paper showed that firstly, there were six domains of meaningful learning at higher education which had relational connection and interactive activity, namely; foundation knowledge, application, integration, human dimension, caring, and learning how to learn. Secondly, to implement it, there were three steps for meaningful learning; they were (a) building significant main components; (b) arranging the components to a rational component holistically; and (c) finishing other important final tasks. Keywords: Higher Education Involvement, Educational Community, Meaningful Learning

Abstract

AbstractMedia is a kind of tool to deliver material contents to learners (students). Chemistry contains much abtract concepts elusively, such as the concept of the atom, electronic structure in the atomic structure, ionization energy, ionic activities, reaction and reaction speed and etc. All of the concepts is not enough just described verbally, orally to students but it is needed to explained visually through media, in order to have a comprenhensif knowledge. Right now, it is well-known a multimedia such as Macromedia tools that the difficult contents can be more easilly understood. through pictures and animations available made it. It will be conducted a meaningful learning instruction through chemistry lesson in science education college. Macromedia such as flash-media program, Prezi, etc. It is easly able to explain concepts to the learners. Chemistry learning research results shows that some difficult topics make it students more interested in in learning and improved their competenciesn also. Keywords: media role, content abtract, chemistry education.

Abstract

Abstract The objective of this research was to find out the influence of applying problem based learning based on soft skills toward increasing students’ creativity in the subject Development of High School Mathematics Curriculum (DHSMC). The method used in this research was Pre-experimental method with the Intec-group comparison design. It was applied to the students who took DHSMC subject in the even semester of the year 2013/2014 for two classes. There were 28 students in the experimental class, who treated by using Problem Based Learning on Based Soft Skills and 25 students in the control group which were taught by using Problem Based Learning. The data of students’ creativity was collected by using questionnaires by Likert Scale, observation, and interview. The aspects of creativity involved flexibility, originality, elaboration, and fluency. The data obtained was normal distributed and has homogen variance. As a result, the data was analyzed through the comparative independent sample that was t-test. The result of the research showed that there was not influence on students’ creativities after teaching by problem based learning based on soft skills and those by problem based learning in taking DHCMC subject.Key words: soft skills, problem based learning, creativity
