Abstract

In this study, moringa seeds extracted for oil were extracted from Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. Moringa seed oil is obtained by extraction using n-hexane solvents. The extraction method used is the Soxhletasi method at a temperature of 68 oC, and is further separated between the solvent and its oil using rotavapor. Moringa seed oil obtained further characterized its physical and chemical properties. Characterization of the physical and chemical properties of moringa seed oil includes density, viscosity, saponification number, iodine number, acidic number, and peroxide number. The results showed that moringa seeds contained 28.6% oil. For testing of physical parameters of moringa seed oil obtained density of 0.912 g/ml, and viscosity of 1,054 cps. For testing chemical parameters obtained saponification number 18.65, acid number 132.42, iodine number 66.46, and peroxide number 6.8 meg/kg Key Words: moringa seed oil, extraction, characterization, fatty acids, peroxides

Abstract

Nutritive Value Of Chestnut Fruit (Anacardium Occidentale) Silage In Combination With Various Levels Of  Cassava Mill Addition and Length Of Fermentation Time As Feed. The aim of this experiment was to evaluate nutritive value of chestnut fruit silage in combination with various levels of casava mill addition and length of fermentation time. This research was conducted in 2 treatment factors with 3 replication. The  I factor  are : Various level of casava mill e.i. L1: 0%, L2 : 3%, L3 : 6% and L4 : 9%, and the II factor are length of fermentation time e.i  W1 : 20 days, W2 : 40 days and W3 : 60 days. The result showed that silage technonogy manifestly (P<0,05) with various casava mill  level and fermentation time can increase nutritive value  chestnut fruit. Higher organic mater percen at 0% casava mill with fermentation time of 20 days (97,94%). Higher ash percen at 0% casava mill with fermentation time of 40 days (97,94%), and at 3% casava mill with fermentation time of 60 days (3,67%). Higher crude fiber at 9% casava mill with fermentation time of 60 days (7,19%) and low at 0% casava mill with fermentation time of 20 days (6,29%). Higher extract ether at 3% casava mill with fermentation time of 40 days (3,73%) and at   6% casava mill with fermentation time of 40 days (3,38%). It could be concluded that silage technonogy can be aplication at chestnut   fruit. This technology can increase benefit of chestnut fruit as feed because increase its nutritive value.Keywords: Silage, Chestnut fruit, Casava mill, Fermentation time, nutritive value

Abstract

Economic analysis of the business development catfish farming in Kota Kupang aims to:  feasibility mengetetahui catfish farming comprising: aspects of market , technical , financial , management, institutional involved , the law ( kelegalan effort ) , socio-economic and environmental aspects, recognize the catfish farming business development and Plan out effort (Business Plans ) cultured catfish .This research used descriptive method . Abstract

Egg Production Character Evaluation And Heavy Local Chicken's Egg At East Nusa Tenggara. The experiment about genetic potential evaluation for the characteristics of egg production and egg weight of local chickens in East Nusa Tenggara has been conducted in animal production housing Animal husbandry department, Polytechnic of Agriculture Kupang. The objective of this study is determine the genetic potency of local chicken in terms of their egg production, heritability value of egg production characteristic and egg weight of local chicken in East Nusa Tenggara.Randomized complete block design was applied in this experiment by using Anova of heritability. The results show that the average of egg production of local chicken is 60,67% ± 2.5, white the egg weight is 0,38 (38%) ± 2,8. These findings show that local chicken has genetic potency for egg production which is above egg production average (60%) and egg weight is categorized as medium egg weight with (heritability value 0-1). The big standard deviation is probably due to the big variation of local chicken variety and their genetics that are needed to develop.In conclusion, local chicken in East Nusa Tenggara has genetic potency to be developed because of their heritability value of egg production which is above the egg production average and their egg weight is medium.Keywords: Local chicken, heretability value, egg production and egg weight

Abstract

Relative Profits of the Old Coconut Farm Enterprises Product in Amarasi District. This research aimed to find out the amount of relative profits of old coconut farm enterprise in Amarasi district. The research held from March to October 2007 in Amarasi district, Kupang regency, East Nusa Tenggara. This employed descriptive method and its data-collecting technique employed survey one. Technique to choose farmers as the respondents were used census way to the 48 farmers. Data were analyzed using input and output way in order to know the amount of profits of old coconut farm enterprise. To know relative profit of old coconut farm enterprise, it uses R/C ratio (return and cost). Abstract

Nitrogen Application through Pitcher (Jug) Irrigation System on Tomato Culture. Tomato plants require nitrogen for leaf formation and good quality fruit production. In order to be efficienctly and effectively using the nitrogen fertilizer, it is recommended to apply a pitcher irrigation sistem. The aim of this research is to find out the effect of the combination of nitrogen dose and main material composition of pitcher that may increase the yield of tomato. The research has been done in Naimata village in Kupang City, started from June until September 2009. The Experimental design used in this research was Randomized Complete Block Design with nine treatments and three replications. The results showed that the effect of the combined treatments to plant height at age of 35 days after planting with the highest number was on 200 kg N.ha-1and pitcher type  2 (75% of clay ; 15% of sand ; 10% of sawdust) treatment (87,09), the number of fruits of each plant was highest in 150 kg N ha-1and pitcher type  2 (75% of clay; 15% of sand ; 10% of sawdust) treatment (195,33), and fresh fruit per plants was highest in 150 kg N ha-1and pitcher type  2 (75% of clay; 15% of sand; 10% of sawdust) treatment  (9118,10).Keywords: Nitrogen, Pitcher and Tomato

Abstract

Sweet potato production is plagued by pests Cylas formicarius Fabricus. These pests can be controlled by using entomopathogenic fungus as a biological control agent. Local biological agents will have a better adaptation and higher performance to control pests compared with biological agents which are introduced from other areas. This study aims to explore the local isolate entomopathogenic fungal species, identify and testing the pathogenicity on C. formicarius. Implementation of the study consists of several stages: collection and maintenance of insects, exploration entomopathogenic fungus, and the effectiveness test of entomopathogenic fungal isolates in the laboratory. The entomopathogenic fungus types which can be found in South Central Timor is Metarhizium anisopliae and Beauveria bassiana. Both of these fungi cause mortality in larvae of C. formicarius respectively by 80.75% (Metarhizium anisopliae) and 80.25% (Beauveria bassiana). Abstract

Use of Wafer Legume as Goats Feeds Alternative in Semi Arid Area. The experiment was conducted at Goats house Laboratory of Production and Reproduction, Kupang State Agriculture Polytechnic, from Mei to July 2006. This research aimed to know the advantage of wafer legume used for goat’s feed, especially feed intake, digestion, body weigh gain, rumen concentration of NH3 and VFA. The experiment used completely randomized design. Nine goats were randomly divided into 3 groups to receive three treatments. The treatments were R0 (kume grass hay), R1( R0 + wafer -1 of 1,5% body weight gain, R2 ( R0 + wafer-2 of 1,5% body weight gain. Parameters measured were nutrient intake, nutrient digestion, body weight gain, rumen concentration of NH3 and VFA. The data was analysed by using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The result indicated that wafer legume did not significantly affected to organic matter intake and body weight gain, while the significant effect was found in digestion, rumen concentration of NH3 and VFA. It Could be concluded that wafer legume improve digestion, rumen concentration of NH3 and VFA of goats. Keywords: Wafer, Legume, Goats, Body weight gain

Abstract

The research aim’s to find the factors which influence the marketing margins of beef cattle in Kupang Regency. The research was conducted using a survey method. The research involved 94 respondentsas samples, consisted of 76 breeders, 12 intermediary traders, and 6 inter-island traders. Respondents of breeders were determined by simple random sampling, while intermediatery traders and inter-island traders were determined by snowballs sampling. The research data were collectedthrough direct observation and interview that use questionnaires. The results showed that the equation model Y = - 27,804 + 3,10X1 + 0,158X2. The coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.909 given overview of marketing margins which could be explained together on 90.9% by marketing costs and sales volume. The results of marketing testing cost and partial sales volume or as a whole showed a very significant effect (P <0.01) on marketing margins. In conclusion, the increase of marketing costand sales volume had contribution toward the marketing margin of beef cattle in Kupang Regency.

Abstract

“Manggullu” Local Special Food Based On Banana And Peanut. For the agenda of diversivikasi [by] food material, potential traditional food products of local standard barium needed alwaysly in diging and developed. Because local food products generally has niulai taste goal that is typical and doesn't contain chemicals endangering for consuming it. Manggullu is one of  local typical food type of sub-province public Sumba Timur, made from banana jam and peanut boxed collectively/together causing forms a dough. Sees light f ood potency which pertained this on unique hence this research done.This research applies Completely randomized design method. Treatment tried consisted of banana type and composition of peanut and design as unique f actor with formation of  treatment as follows: pl p2 etc.: banana ambon + 250% peanut, plp2 etc.: banana ambon + 50% peanut, P3: banana ambon + 75% peanut, P4:banana beraga + 25% peanut, P5 : banana is having Beraga + 50% peanut, P6:banana beraga + 75% peanut, P7 : banana kepok + 25% peanut, P8: banana kepok + 50% peanut, P9: banana kepok + 75 % peanut. Each re- treatment 3 times so that as a whole there is there are 27 attempt units.Result of research indicates that treatment of banana type and composition of peanut added influential reality to quality of light food of manggullu yielded especially concerning chemical composition and character physical of product. Statistically chemical composition manggullu tarutama water activity, different f at rate and glucose rate depended f rom banana type as component of main standard and composition of  peanut added.
