Abstract

This research was aimed to evaluate the effect of  level of Rhyzopus oligosporus and fermentation time on  crude protein and tannin   of  tamarind seed. This experiment was conducted in 2 treatment factors with 2 replication. The first factor was various level of  Rhyzopus oligosporus e.i. 1,2,3 kg/kg, and the second factor was time of fermentation e.i. 1,2,3, days. The results showed that there was no significantly effects among treatments on crude protein, but significant effect (P<0.05) on tannin by level of Rhyzopus oligosporus treatment, and time of fermentation, even those there was no interaction between each treatment. Tannin content decreased in line with increasing level of Rhyzopus oligosporus and time of fermentation. In conclusion, the best treatment was 3 g/kg  level of Rhyzopus oligosporus   with 3 days fermentation length.Key words:     Rhyzopus oligosphorus, Fermentation time, tamarind seed, crude protein, Tannin

Abstract

Nutrient Values Of Native Grass And Gliricidia Leafs With Several Blocks Of Sugar Palm Urea. A study, conducted by applying Completely Randomized Design, has been conducted to analyze nutrient content of native grass, Gliricidia leafs and urea which was mixed with palm sugar. The study took place in the Laboratory of Nutrient and Feed of Almira, Kupang from July to December 2009. Feedstuff consist of native grass forage, Gliricidia leafs, sugar palm 35%, corn meal 18%, rice bran 32%, urea 2%, salt 5%, mineral 3% and lime 5%. Observed variables consist of proximate analyses (dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber, fat, ash, free Nitrogen extract matter, Calcium and Phosphor). The results show that the nutrient values of all ration formula treatments are not significantly differ (P<0.05). It can be concluded that all nutrient content of all five ration formulations are similar.Key words: Native grass, Gliricidia leafs, Block Sugar Palm Urea, Nutrient

Abstract

The aim of this research are to evaluate the production and nutritive value Cowpea and sudan grass forage on intercroping plant system. This research was designed by RCD with 5 treatment and replication ( 25 attempt unit). Treatment tried by are: P1: Monoculture sudan grass, P2: Monoculture cowpea, P3 Join with cowpea and Sudan grass in percentage population 25:75, P4:50:50 and P5:75:25.The result showed that intercroping cowpea and sudan grass effected ( P< 0,01) on dry matter production on sudan grass and cowpea there P3 and P4 are highest that 3,18 tons / ha and 3,04 tons / ha for sudan grass and on Cowpea 7,03 tons / ha and 6,35 tons / ha. Crude protein on sudan grass forage, P5 And P4 are highest that 10,50% and P4 10,25%. Best Rate crude fiber on P3 and P4. P1 And P3 crude fat highest that 1,00% and 0,89%, and ash highest at P1, P4 And P5 that 12,83%, 12,28% and 12,17%. For cowpea forage, the best Nutritive value are CP highest at P4 and P5 that 27,72% and 27,59%. Best rate CF at P5 and P4 that 21,06% and 20,89%. highest rate Crude fat at P2 and P3 that 2,05% and 1,69%. highest ash rate at P2 that 17,07%. Abstract

Use of Wafer Legume as Goats Feeds Alternative in Semi Arid Area. The experiment was conducted at Goats house Laboratory of Production and Reproduction, Kupang State Agriculture Polytechnic, from Mei to July 2006. This research aimed to know the advantage of wafer legume used for goat’s feed, especially feed intake, digestion, body weigh gain, rumen concentration of NH3 and VFA. The experiment used completely randomized design. Nine goats were randomly divided into 3 groups to receive three treatments. The treatments were R0 (kume grass hay), R1( R0 + wafer -1 of 1,5% body weight gain, R2 ( R0 + wafer-2 of 1,5% body weight gain. Parameters measured were nutrient intake, nutrient digestion, body weight gain, rumen concentration of NH3 and VFA. The data was analysed by using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The result indicated that wafer legume did not significantly affected to organic matter intake and body weight gain, while the significant effect was found in digestion, rumen concentration of NH3 and VFA. It Could be concluded that wafer legume improve digestion, rumen concentration of NH3 and VFA of goats. Keywords: Wafer, Legume, Goats, Body weight gain

Abstract

Sebuah kegiatan IbM dalam upaya mengatasi masalah kekurangan pakan bagi ternak ruminansia, bertujuan memperkenalkan dan menerapkan desain pasture  berkualitas sebagai sumber pakan  selama setahun, direncanakan akan dilaksanakan selama 8 bulan. Luaran yang dihasilkan adalah pasture berbasis tanaman pakan local, transfer teknologi tepat guna dan publikasi di jurnal. Metode yang digunakan adalah Pendekatan dengan tokoh kunci dan bersama kelompok melakukan identifikasi potensi  tanaman pakan local, survei lokasi untuk pembuatan pasture, penyuluhan,  desain pasture, mendemonstrasikan  pembuatan pasture modern, mendemonstrasikan pemanfaatan pasture tersebut, evaluasi pemanfaatan pasture dan memantau kondisi ternak yang memanfaatkannya. Hasil IbM adalah bersama kelompok mitra mendemonstrasikan pembuatan pastura, penyuluhan, pemeliharaan pasture serta pendampingan peternak dalam memanfaatkan pasture tersebut. Luaran adalah pasture 0,5 ha, terjadi peningkatan produksi ternak yang merumput. Disimpulkan bahwa pasture bagi  ruminasia telah didesain bersama kelompok kali satu dan Kali 2 telah  dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber pakan berkualitas bagi ternak ruminasia, telah terjadi transfer teknologi serta terjadi peningkatan ekonomi akibat adanya program ini.

Abstract

The research with aim to assessing the effect of giving  time interval of organic liquid fertilizer made golden snail aplle on growth and forage production Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott, has been held for 3 months at the Kupang State Agricultural Polytechnic gardens forage at Oesao. The study was designed by Randomized Block Design, with 5 treatments and 5 block, which consists of the P0: without organic liquid fertilizer, P5: every 5 days, P7: every 7 days, P9: every 9 days , P11: every 11 days. The variables are number of shoots (number/ week), high gain (cm/ week), production of fresh weight (tons/ ha), dry matter production of forage (tons/ ha). Analysis of variance showed that the interval timing of organic liquid fertilizer made of snails  no significant  effect (P>0.05) to number of shoots, high gain,   fresh weight production of forage, and  dry matter production of forage. The average of number of shoots are 10.11/ week (P0: 10.46; P5: 11.35; P7: 10.41; P9: 9.39; P11: 8.94), the increase plant height 20.90 cm/ week (P0: 21.06; P5: 22.01; P7: 21.20; P9: 20.61; P11: 19.60), 53.32 tonnes / ha the fresh production of forage (P0: 53.62; P5: 57.71; P7: 49.39; P9: 55.18; P11: 50.71), 7.73 tonnes/ ha of dry matter of forage (P0: 7.72; P5: 8.80; P7: 7.17; P9: 7.68; P11: 7.26).  It was concluded that the growth and forage production of Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott is not be effected of  effect of time interval of liquid organic fertilizer made from raw of golden snail.

Abstract

This research was conducted in Kupang State Agricultural Polytechnic, Prodia Clinical Laboratory, feed Chemical Laboratory of Animal Husbandry Faculty, and the Gadjah Mada University of from May 6 th until June 7 th , 2013. The aims of this resear ch was to determine the effect of skinless roasted tamarind seeds meal on hematology parameters in broiler chicken. The aims of this research was to determine the effect of skinless roasted tamarind seeds meal on hematological parameters and the level of skinless roasted tamarind seeds meal consumption in broiler chicken which can affect hematological parameter. This research used completely randomized design with 4 tr eatments and 6 replications. The treatments were basal ration without skinless roasted tamarind seeds meal (R0), 95% basal ration + 5 % meal of skinless roasted tamarind seeds meal (R1), 90 % basal ration + 10 % skinless roasted tamarind seeds meal (R2), 8 5 % basal ration + 15 % skinless roasted tamarind seeds meal (R3). The measured variables were the number of erythrocyte, hemoglobin level, hematocrit value, level of LDL, and HDL cholesterol, and triglyceride. The variants analysis to the number of erythr ocyte, hemoglobin level, and haematocrit value indicated that skinless roasted tamarind seeds meal had no significant effect to broiler (P>0.05). The level of LDL cholesterol from R0 and R1 had no significant difference. The R1, R2, and R3 treatments had s ignificant effect (P<0.01) on the LDL cholesterol of broiler. HDL cholesterol and triglycerida showed that the skinless roasted tamarind seeds meal had no significant effect (P>0.05).

Abstract

This study evaluated the husbandry and management practices adopted by the pig farmers and the potential of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Husbandry and management practices evaluated include educational background, main occupation, livestock pens, animal feed and drinking water systems, reproductive management, and pig body condition. Data were collected from 300 pig farmers using interviews and questionnaires. This study was conducted in the districts of Kupang Timor and Amabi Oefeto from June to October 2022. This study reported several factors that could potentially affect the ASF transmission. These practices can be improved to prevent the potential of ASF transmission. The educational background of pig farmers, primary occupation, caging management, swill feeding, and reproductive management may have potentially contributed to the ASF transmission in Kupang during the outbreak period.

Abstract

Peternakan babi skala rumah tangga memainkan peran penting dalam ketahanan pangan perkotaan. Namun demikian, jumlah penduduk yang terus meningkat turut memengaruhi secara negatif terhadap keberlanjutan budidaya ternak babi skala rumah tangga khususnya di Kelurahan Kayu Putih, Kota Kupang. Hal tersebut berkaitan dengan masalah bau yang mencemari lingkungan. Kegiatan bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peternak mitra tentang manajemen pemeliharaan ternak babi yang ramah lingkungan. Metode pengabdian dilakukan melalui penyuluhan, diskusi kelompok, demonstrasi plot (demplot)/praktek lapang, dan pendampingan terstruktur. Kegiatan pengabdian telah berhasil merenovasi 2 (dua) unit kandang babi milik peternak mitra, memproduksi 19 liter pupuk organik cair (POC) dan 35 kg pupuk bokashi dari limbah urine maupun feses babi yang dipelihara oleh peternak mitra. Pada aspek pengetahuan, peternak mitra mengetahui teknik melakukan pembuatan POC dan bokashi. Kegiatan pengabdian ini merupakan salah satu langkah strategis yang memberikan manfaat bagi peternak babi di wilayah perkotaan untuk tetap mempertahankan keberlanjutan usaha maupun pendapatannya.Kata Kunci: Babi, Limbah, Ramah Lingkungan.
