Abstract

There are several factors that cause farmers to be less aware of the importance of the quality and productivity of oil palm plants, including lack of information and publications, lack of socialization on the use of quality seeds and limited farmer capital. From the producer side, in Indonesia there are several companies that produce certified oil palm seeds at various prices. This company offers seed prices starting from sprouts, 3 month old seeds and seeds more than 9 months old. The large number of certified seedlings offered has made the position of competition between brands to be tighter, which has prompted producers to continue to make good business strategies so that their products in the market can be accepted by consumers, especially palm oil entrepreneurs. The purpose of this study was to analyze the combination of certified seed products, product combination attributes, and farmers' preferences for the use of certified oil palm seeds. The data obtained during the study were processed using conjoint analysis. Research data were taken from 100 farmer respondents. The results of the research on the preferences of certified seed farmers that are very popular are certified seeds with attributes of type Dumpy from PPKS, 3 months old seeds, price range around Rp. 15.000, getting promotion from seed producers by 25%, very easy access to certified seeds, and it can be planted on surging land types. Farmer's Preference in buying oil palm seeds choose seed price as the most preferred attribute when purchasing certified seeds in Batu Bara District.

Abstract

The coronavirus pandemic has put the world in a state of crisis, both a health crisis and an economic crisis. As a result of this virus, trade between countries is hampered, due to a lockdown (large-scale social restrictions) which results in slow economic growth. Export is one of the international trade activities carried out by Indonesia. The agricultural sector contributes 2.3% of Indonesia's total exports, however, the agricultural sector is a sector that has survived a crisis. Seeing the situation in 2020, which has seen the COVID-19 pandemic in the last few months, it is interesting to observe whether the global crisis caused by COVID-19 has made a significant change in the performance of the export value of Indonesian agricultural products. The data used are monthly data analyzed using multiple linear regression, with the dependent variable being the value of Indonesian agricultural exports, while the independent variables are national gross domestic income, the exchange rate of the rupiah against the United States dollar, the volume of Indonesian exports, the volume of Indonesian agricultural exports, and COVID -19 as a dummy variable. The result is, the variables that have a significant effect on the value of Indonesian agricultural exports are the volume of Indonesian exports and the volume of Indonesian agricultural exports, while other variables do not have a significant effect.

Abstract

Understanding the linkage of a product flows along the commodity chain is important as the starting point in determining a sustainability strategy. The scope of the rice commodity value chain in this study involves farmers' rice production, small-scale rice mills and the home industry of rice milling. The study aims to identify commodity chains of rice in Lampung Province. The primary data from the rice processing industry and rice trading using a questionnaire guidance. The purposive sampling method is used by considering the rice milling business's representation related to the commodity chain. Qualitative analysis of the pattern of relations between business actors carried out with the agri-food value chain approach. The pattern of chain starts from the process of transforming raw materials into the manufactured and the final product until it reaches the end consumers. The commodity chain involved the flow of production, information (price and marketing chain), and income flow. Generally, there are 3-5 rice flour milling units in the village, with a 50-120 kg/month production volume. The average price of rice flour is Rp. 12,500/kg. The ability to supply paddy grain for milling is 2-5 tons/agent/week. Rice mills generally have 2-6 suppliers of fixed paddy grain. Information on product flow diagrams includes product types, ease of obtaining goods, time dependence, and ease of selling goods. Information on paddy grain prices on the supplier line is an average of Rp 4,500/kg. The price of rice in the distribution line to the wholesale rice trader is Rp. 8,500. Meanwhile, the income stream provides information on the value of rice production revenue of 59.7 tons per month attaint to Rp 40.3 million with a profit amount of Rp 318/kg.

Abstract

East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT) is a province that has a lot of potential natural resource due to its diverse demographics from volcanoes to savanna and steppe. This potential makes NTT Province feasible to be developed, especially in the agricultural sector. Potential analysis of the agricultural sector was carried out to measure the role of the agricultural sector for economic growth in NTT Province using the Klassen Typology Method, Location Quotient (LQ) and Shift Share analysis. The results with Klassen Typology Method show that the agricultural sector is in quadrant II, which is an advanced but depressed sector. This reflects that the agricultural sector is the dominant sector for economic growth in NTT Province during the analysis period. However, over time, other sectors had faster growth rates than the agricultural sector. In addition, the results of the LQ analysis state that the agricultural sector is the basis of the sector in NTT Province, while the Shift Share analysis states that the growth of the agricultural sector in NTT Province has a faster growth than the national agricultural sector.
