Abstract

The diffusion of innovation begins with the adoption of innovation to increase the productivity of corn farming so that a study of the innovation diffusion process is needed. The double track innovation is an innovation on how to grow corn which has been proven to be able to increase corn productivity by increasing the number of tillers in one hectare. This research was conducted from March to June 2023 with the objectives of 1) analyzing the main actors in spreading double track innovation among corn farmers participating in the TJPS program, 2) analyzing the relationship between socio-economic factors and the process of spreading double track innovation. The research location in Manusak Village, East Kupang District, Kupang Regency was chosen deliberately because it is the first and widest location for implementing the 'double track' innovation in the CSR program. The survey method was used in collecting data on 83 respondents. To answer the first objective, the data were analyzed using the analysis of the structure of the communication network with the sociogram approach, and the second objective was analyzed using the Spearman Rank Correlation Test (rs). The research results are: 1). As the main actor in the diffusion of double track innovation in corn cultivation in the TJPS program, the farmer with the first serial number, Mr. Foris, became a source of information for 24 farmers with a percentage of 29%. 2). Socio-economic factors that have a real relationship with the flow of innovation diffusion are the age of the farmer, the education of the farmer and the dependents of the farmer's family, on the other hand the area of land has no real relationship. The implication of this research is that in increasing the diffusion of innovations in farming communities it is hoped that they will utilize local-level change agents or key actors so that innovation spreads to all farmers, increase the role of millennials in the process of adoption and diffusion of innovations and apply effective agricultural extension models.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development potential of beef cattle breeding in Karanganyar Regency including financial business feasibility, SWOT analysis and development strategies as well. Determination of the research location in Karanganyar Regency using the location quotient (LQ) method in order to obtain 3 sub-districts including Jenawi, Jatiyoso and Mojogedang Sub-districts. Purposive sampling was used to select 40 PO (Ongole Peranakan) cattle breeders as respondents. The survey method was used to collect primary data from respondents and secondary data from related agencies. The net present value (NPV), benefit cost ratio (BCR), internal rate of return (IRR), payback period of credit (PPC), and break event point criteria were used in the feasibility analysis of the cattle feedlot business (BEP). SWOT analysis was also used in the analysis of the PO cattle development strategy. The analysis revealed that the PO cattle breeding business is not financially feasible over an 8-year period with a discount factor of 12%/year, but it is feasible if labor is not valued in money. The SWOT analysis turned out the livestock rearing system, easy to obtain forage, financially feasible conditions, and livestock breeding methods are the internal strengthsInternal weaknesses include a lack of information on beef cattle farming, farmers' lack of knowledge, and farmers' weak bargaining position. External opportunities include the supply of business capital and the use of breeding technology. External threats include livestock diseases, competition for beef cattle from other areas, and uncontrolled livestock sales. PO cattle breeding business in Karanganyar Regency is feasible.

Abstract

Ecological and socio-economic roles can contribute to the productivity of corn commodities. The decreased productivity of corn can be influenced by farmers' perceptions of land use. The aim of the study was to analyze corn farmers' perceptions of different cultivation land uses in terms of ecological and economic benefits. The research was conducted in Central Java Province, which is a main center of corn production. Simple random sampling data from 210 corn farmer respondents were used in this study. Data analysis used in this study was non-parametric analysis of Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that corn farmers' perceptions can influence decisions in adopting land types. Then there are differences in perceptions between corn farmers in adopting land types (paddy field, paddy forest, community forest and community plantation forest) towards ecological and economic benefits. Meanwhile, there is a gap in knowledge about ecological and economic benefits among corn farmers in paddy fields, paddy forest and community forest. The policy makers need to be involved in designing and implementing policies related to sustainable land use for farmers, therefore increasing corn productivity.

Abstract

One of the important components in measuring the growth and sustainability of a country's economy is the absorption of labor. Central Java Province, which is known as one of the main agricultural centers in Indonesia, has many diverse variables that affect the absorption of labor in agriculture. This study investigates how the GDP of the agricultural sector, farmers' exchange rate, investment, and agricultural land area affect the absorption of labor in the agricultural sector of Central Java Province. This research method uses a quantitative approach with multiple regression analysis of secondary data collected from various sources from 2013-2023. The results of the analysis show that the GDP of the agricultural sector with a significance value of 0.025, the farmer exchange rate with a significance value of 0.000 and the area of agricultural land with a significance value of 0.000 have a significant influence on labor absorption, while investment with a significance value of 0.353 has no significant influence on labor absorption. Although not directly significant, investment also plays an important role in employment dynamics. This study shows that to improve people's welfare and strengthen the regional economy in Central Java Province, there is a need for policies that support agricultural economic growth, price stability of agricultural products, and investment development that focuses on the creation of direct jobs in the agricultural sector.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the determinant factors and production efficiency of coconut farming in Bengkalis Regency. This research was conducted in Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. The total research sample was 30 respondents. The sampling method in this research uses non-probability sampling, namely a purposive sampling technique with the criteria that farmers have coconut plants with a minimum area of 1 Ha or a maximum of 10 Ha, coconut plants that are at least 15 years old and farmers who still manage coconut plantations. Determinant factors for coconut production were carried out using multiple regression analysis with the OLS (Ordinary Least Square) method. Production efficiency analysis uses the Cobb-Douglas production function model to analyze technical efficiency, allocative efficiency and economic efficiency. The research results show that the determinant factors for coconut production in Bengkalis Regency are the number of plants and labor. These two variables are significant and have a positive effect on coconut production in Bengkalis Regency. Based on the results of the production efficiency analysis of the stochastic model of the Cobb Douglas coconut production function, the use of production factors for the number of plants is not technically efficient and is not allocatively/price and economically efficient. Meanwhile, the use of labor production factors is not technically, allocatively/price and economically efficient.
