Abstract

Background: Complaints due to upper trapezius myofascial pain syndrome include spasm, pain, and limitations in functional motion of the neck and surrounding areas. One way to overcome this is myofascial release, but there is no review article about the effect of myofascial release on the functional neck of myofascial pain syndrome. This study is to analyze the effect of myofascial release on pain and functional neck myofascial pain syndrome in the upper trapezius muscle. Methods: systematic review with the PICO framework (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcomes). Identify articles using relevant databases (Googlescholar, PubMed, PeDro) with customized keywords. Article selection using PRISMA flowchart, article assessment using critical appraisal. Results: The number of articles from 3 databases contained 3684 articles. After screening the title and the relevance of the abstract, 10 articles were obtained that proved the effectiveness of myofascial release in reducing neck pain and disability. Conclusion: myofascial release technique in the condition of myofascial pain syndrome, upper trapezius muscle is effective for reducing pain and increasing functional motion in the neck.

Abstract

Background: Lower back pain still occurs in many cyclists. The sitting position is considered to be one of the factors causing complaints of low back pain. This study was conducted to determine the correlation between sitting position and complaints of low back pain in cyclists. Methods: This study employed the narrative review method by collecting ten research articles from the Google Scholar and PubMed databases, identifying keywords using the PEOs format, so that the keywords "Cyclist", "Sitting Position", "Lower Back Pain", and "All Study Design" were used. Results: All articles used were articles published starting in 2010. Seven articles stated that lower back pain occurred more frequently in a sitting position with large lumbar flexion. Six articles stated that the sitting position of a cyclist was affected by the position of the handlebars. Five articles stated that sitting with the lower handlebars resulted in greater lumbar flexion and anterior pelvic tilt. Five articles stated that prolonged lumbar flexion and anterior pelvic tilt resulted in a lower crossed syndrome. Four articles found that lower crossed syndrome contributes to lower back pain. Conclusion: There is a correlation between sitting position and complaints of low back pain in cyclists. However, there are limitations to the article which states that the statistical closeness of the correlation between sitting position and complaints of low back pain in cyclists.

This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of Video-Based Instruction on the practice of personal hygiene during menstruation on Intellectual Disability students. Methods: This is quantitative research with pre-experimental type and one group pretest-posttest design. The data collection tool is a "personal hygiene" questionnaire. The data analysis method uses a paired sample t-test with the help of SPSS version 25. This research conducted at SLB Negeri 3 Central Jakarta with a total sample is 20 respondents selected by the purposive sampling technique. Results: Most respondents were 14 years old (20%), 7th grade (30%), get menarche at 12 and 13 years (25%). The mean score for the practice of personal hygiene during menstruation pre-test is 41.30 and post-test is 53.20. Paired sample t-test results showed that sig. (2-tailed) <0.001. Conclusion: The results showed that it received Ha, which means that there is an effect of Video-Based Instruction on the practice of personal hygiene during menstruation on Intellectual Disabilities students. The results also showed that there are mean score differences of the pre-test and post-test results, which is an increase in the mean score of the post-test results by 11,90.

Abstract

Background: Non-specific low back pain is a type of pain that is located in spine area and does not radiate to the legs. Non-specific low back pain can limit daily activities and cause inability to do work. The aim of this study is to compare the effectiveness of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) versus sensory motor training (SMT) in the treatment of ultrasound therapy (UST) and kinesio tape (KT) insertion in non-specific low back pain. Methods: This research is an experimental with a randomized pre-test and post-test control group design, in which the study participants were divided into two groups randomly. The control group (n = 10) is given UST+PNF+KT combination, while the treatment group (n = 10) is given UST+SMT+KT combination. Therapeutic evaluation measures include: pain scale with a numeric rating scale, range of motion with a goniometer, and lower back disability with the Indonesian Version of Oswestry Disability Index. The intervention is given 3 times per 1 week for 3 weeks. Results: The results showed improvement in pain, range of motion, and lower back disability in each group (p<0.05). However, there were no significant differences when compared between groups. Conclusion: Based on these results, it can be concluded that the UST+PNF+KT combination has the same good results as the UST+SMT+KT combination in improving pain, range of motion, and lower back disability in non-specific low back pain.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Diadochokinetic Rate (DDK) is an ability of repeating a series of sounds quickly and repeatedly. This ability is one of variables to measure speaking ability. The need for normative data is important to provide prediction appropriately in order to establish speaking disorder diagnosis. This research aims to find quantitative data (DDK) in 5 to 14 year old children. Methods: The research employed observational approach. Data was collection was conducted through face-to-face examination with students as enumerator. Each of enumerators has been trained on how to examine and to document data, as indicated with audiovisual recording. Data was collected on January 2020. A total of 100 respondents were included into analysis criteria. Respondents were 5-14 year old normal children. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive analysis. Results: The research found data of Diadochokinetic Rate quantification at syllable and word levels. Quantification data shows the difference between nonsense syllable words and words. There was a difference of quantitative data in each of age groups. Analysis on examination result was carried out using mean and standard deviation scores. Conclusion: The finding of research showed recent data of DDK in 5 to 14 year old year children. Data can be used as the material of speech therapy examination analysis. Further researchers are required to see DDK ability broadly in each of age groups.

Abstract

Background: Shoulder pain and low back pain usually arise because of overuse or excessive use. Acupuncture can relax back muscles, waist and shoulders through cutaneosomatic reflex; and increase the release of endorphins so that it can reduce inflammation in back, waist, and shoulders so that it can help relieve pain and restore the function of back, waist, and shoulders. This study aims to determine differences betwen effectiveness of INMAS and local points acupuncture on pain and quality of life in workers with back and shoulder pain. Methods: This study is quantitative quasi experimental design with control group with pre and post test, conducted in July-September 2020 at Verta Medika Acupuncture, Klaten. The population was all patients with shoulder and back pain who underwent acupuncture therapy and the sample was determined by inclusion and exclusion criteria and divided into two groups using simple random sampling. Each group consisted of 15 patients. Data analysis focused on pain scale (NRS) and quality of life (WHO-QoL). Results: INMAS technique was better at reducing pain scale (ρ = 0.001), quality of physical health (ρ = 0.083), quality of psychological health (ρ = 0,000), quality of social (ρ = 0,000), and quality of environmental health (ρ = 0.045). Conclusion: INMAS technique is more effective than local points acupuncture for reducing pain levels and it improves the quality of life. Research using larger population and sample is needed to increase validity and reliability of the study.
