Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyses the allocation of farmer household resources in tidal swamp area. The survey method was used to collect farmer data located in tidal swamps land villages with acid sulphate land, peatyland,. and potential land typologies in South Kalimantan. Quantitative analysis of data was carried out using linear programming model and sensitivity analysis, utilizing the BLPX 88 program. The findings of the analysis showed that villages allocated resources differently with the implication that incomes earned by the villages differed from one village to the other. However, it was found out too that optimal solution showed the need for the continuation of rice growing in the areas. Farmers who were located in potential areas where tangerine were grown produce higher incomes than the other two villages. To replicate the cropping pattern farmers in potential land in acid sulphate land and peatyland, resulted into a drastic increase in income earned by farmers

Abstract

Marketing of sugar cane in three periods 1971-2005 ( Bulog, free trade and import controls ) has received government intervention especially on supply and domestic prices. The purpose of this research is to find out influencing factors on supply, production, imports and domestic price of sugar cane and its trend in the future. Descriptive analysis is used as well as autoregressive model (ARI) and trend analysis. The result showed that the area’s sugar cane crop has high contribution to the production and supply of sugar cane in Indonesia. Sugar imports are influenced by the marketing policy of tree trade and import control period, the gap between consumption and production. Domestic production and exchange rates influenced domestic of sugar in the period of Bulog and import controls. Sugar marketing policy did not influence the effectiveness of production and supply of cane sugar in Indonesia. Import control period had a positive effect for domestic prices, yet have not managed the amount of sugar imports. In addition to price and tariff policy to protect the cane sugar producers in the country, it can be realized by on farm increasing intensification and extension as well as further optimization of the sugar factory.

Abstract

Many decisions could be made by farmers after their paddy was getting mature and harvest time was coming. Some of them would sell their harvest directly to the ‘Tebasan’, and some another stored their harvest as dry paddy grain or rice and sold them one day if they thought price of paddy or rice is profitable.Farmers who sold their harvest directly have no probability of storage activity. Farmers who stored their harvest have two probabilities e.g. gain profit or loose at that time. Many farmers got loose after stored their harvest and sold as dry paddy grain or rice. Non financial incentive for farmers who stored their harvest.
