Abstract

Teenagers in this modern era often face various pressures and temptations that can influence their behavior and decisions. One aspect highlighted by research is self-control, which refers to an individual's ability to manage and control their behavior and internal impulses. The research aimed to explore the influence of Adolescent perceptions and Social Environment on teenagers' Ataraxia, as well as the mediating role of self-control in the context of prayer activities in the Nahdlatul At-Thulab IPNU IPPNU assembly. A quantitative survey method was used involving 60 teenagers in the Nahdlatul At-Thulab IPNU IPPNU prayer assembly, using probability sampling techniques with proportionate stratified sampling techniques. Data was collected through a questionnaire with a Likert scale. Data analysis was carried out using relevant statistical techniques. The research showed that there is a positive influence of Adolescent perceptions and Social Environment on the results of Teenager Ataraxia, with self-control mediating this relationship. The implications of this research are the importance of developing self-control skills and motivation in prayer meetings. Recommendations for further research are exploring other factors that influence adolescent perception, social environment, and self-control, as well as developing prayer activities to understand the dynamics of adolescent ataraxia.

Abstract

Environmental degradation is largely caused by human actions. The study aimed to analyze environmental damage and its correlation with the three pillars of evil in Buddhism: lobha (greed), dosa (hatred), and moha (delusion). The research employed a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach to describe the research subjects through field research, involving observation, documentation, and interviews. The findings showed that the Buddhist belief in the three pillars of evil—lobha, dosa, and moha—is considered the root cause of environmental destruction. Humans often disregard their surroundings, showing indifference that fosters arrogance, leading to unwise behavior towards environmental sustainability. In response to environmental degradation, Buddhism offers measures to preserve the environment by teaching good moral ethics, which not only relate to human interactions but also to their relationship with nature. Furthermore, awareness is regarded as the key principle that individuals must embrace to overcome the three circles of evil: lobha, dosa, and moha.

Abstract

The experience of psychological trauma can be profoundly distressing, significantly impacting an individual’s well-being, which makes it essential to explore effective Sufi methods in trauma therapy. The study aimed to analyze active Sufi methods in trauma therapy and their contributions to modern psychotherapy. This research was conducted through an in-depth review of published literature concerning applying Sufi methods in trauma therapy. The data sources were articles, journals, books, and other relevant materials. Data analysis was carried out thematically to identify and explore the key themes and concepts emerging from the literature. The study demonstrates that many Sufi practices—such as zikir, muraqabah, and khalwah—are imbued with immense potential for trauma therapy. Zikir leads to calmness and self-reflection, muraqabah enhances self-awareness and spiritual connection, and khalwah provides profound introspection and a sense of peace. This research concludes that Sufi practices can be integratively employed to facilitate trauma therapy, addressing somatic, emotional, and spiritual dimensions comprehensively. What is offered here is the potential integration of Sufi practices into trauma therapy frameworks to provide a more holistic and culturally relevant healing pathway for those coping with trauma.

Abstract

The Tradition of tahlilan in Islam and consolation worship in Protestant Christianity serve as both social and spiritual rites to pray for the deceased and provide comfort to the bereaved family. This study aims to examine the syncretism of Javanese death rituals contained in tahlilan and consolation worship from the perspectives of Islam and Protestant Christianity within the selametan tradition. The research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing primary data sources and analyzing them through Arnold Van Gennep's anthropological theory, the rites of passage. The study's findings indicate that there is syncretism between the tahlilan ritual in Islam and the worship service of consolation in Protestant Christianity within the selametan tradition. Although there are theological differences, both rituals emphasize social and humanitarian aspects, offering empathy and solidarity to the bereaved family. Tahlilan reflects the Islamic belief in the importance of prayer for the soul of the deceased, while the worship service of consolation provides spiritual support and assurance of resurrection in Christianity. This syncretism demonstrates the openness of religious rituals to adapt, creating interfaith harmony and combining religious practices with the local Javanese culture.

Abstract

Religious pluralism as an effort to bridge harmony among adherents of religions initiates both theological and philosophical problems. For example, religious pluralism is not only seen as a further effort to build interreligious relationships but also it is built on Truth Relativism. The religious pluralism concept also encourages Marianne Moyaert to investigate religious pluralism more deeply, especially referring to the concept of 'Global Theology' which is conceptualized by John Hick. This paper analyzed a number of theologians' annoyance with Global Theology such as: Hick as a 'Problematic Theologian', demythologizing of Jesus, and most importantly, the blurred relationship between Theology and Philosophy. Following Marianne's Argument, it was believed that the relationship among religions should be built on clear boundaries between Theology and Philosophy, where the boundaries were destroyed by Global Theology. Instead of fading the boundaries between the two, the relationship among religions should be carried out based on a religious understanding based on commitment.

This study aims to explain the forms of speech hate in the public space using pragmatic theory, especially acts of perlokusi speech. In addition, this research also explains the actualization of the Solo Raya Center for Religion and Peace Studies in minimizing the utterances of hatred in the public sphere.
