Jurnal Studi Agama dan Masyarakat (JSAM) is an academic journal, publishing two issues per year (June and December). JSAM is published by Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat of Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Palangka Raya, Indonesia. This journal seeks to provide a venue for sharing new empirical research and theoretical analysis of intersections between religion and societies. JSAM publishes original works that contribute to scientific discussion of the relationship between Islam and societies. The journal’s primary focus is on contemporary issues of Islam and culture, politics, economics, law, communication, and history within Indonesian contexts such as local wisdom, multiculturalism and pluralism. However, works on the issues of world religions and global societies are welcome.

Abstract

This article discussed on how religious organizations see and use the internet. The example of a case presented in this article was a mass organization of Nahdlatul Ulama. This article was based on assumption that Nahdlatul Ulama as a traditionalist religious organization tends to be conservative towards the development of information technology was an inaccurate analysis. The data in this article were obtained from Nahdlatul Ulama official website and literature. The findings indicated that despite having a traditionalist character, Nahdlatul Ulama was able to adopt internet technology as an information media for its religious worldviews.

Abstract

Tax discourse in the context of the modern state will always be attractive along with the shifting orientation, purpose and function of the state that not only maintains public order and public security -nachwakersstaat - but the state must be able to present a prosperous condition -verzogingstaat or welvarsstaat- in the midst of its people. This gives consequences to the state in taking responsibility for the welfare of its people. Tax is one of the instruments used by the state as capital to carry out the welfare mission levied from the people, on the people's mandate as well as taxes are then distributed. The construction of thought in this peaper is based on the benefit aspect of the function and role of the tax.

Abstract

The increasing use of Instagram is dominated by users around the age of 15-30 years. The majority who followed in Instagram were famous public figures such as celebrities, political figures and religious leaders. With this Instagram, da'i or preachers can convey their messages easily and free through photos and captions or short videos. This study is important to see how Instagram as a new media is able to become a trendsetter for wellknown Ustadz like Felix Siauw and Hanan Attaki. This study uses a qualitative research method using the framing model as proposed by Robert N. Entman by observing how a discourse or communication is displayed in the public space. The finding confirmed that the framing model of Felix Siauw and Hanan Attaki has similarities in preaching Islam through Instagram social media using short posts or short videos and interesting captions. However, both of them have different tendencies, in which Felix Siauw is more dominant in discussing social and political issues while Hanan Attaki is more dominant in discussing good advice or about love between men and women.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the influence of religious orientation and self efficacy on the meaning of Islamic education. Technique of data analysis of this research use correlation and regression statistic test conducted by IAIN Palopo student with 75 respondents. The design of this research is the correlation design between the relation of religiosity orientation with the meaning of Islamic religious education, the relationship of self efficacy with the meaning of Islamic religious education, and the relation of religious orientation and self efficacy to the meaningfulness of Islamic religious education. After the research done by spreading the questionnaire, it was found that the orientation of religious self efficacy had an effect on the meaning of Islamic education either simultaneously or partially. Reflective contribution for religious orientation was 41,51%, and self efficacy was 58,49%, while for the effective contribution of religious orientation variable was 2.99%, and self efficacy variable was 4,21%. 4,6% variation meaningfulness Islamic education can be explained by the orientation of religiosity and self efficacy, while the remaining 95,4% is explained by other factors.
