Abstract

Lithosphere literacy is an important component of scientific literacy for physics education students, particularly in understanding geological phenomena that frequently occur in disaster-prone regions. This study aimed to analyze students’ knowledge across several lithosphere concepts and knowledge types. The research employed a quantitative descriptive approach involving 88 physics education students. The instrument used was a multiple-choice test designed to measure students’ knowledge in the domains of factual, conceptual, and procedural knowledge across four lithosphere concepts: volcanism, earthquakes, liquefaction, and the earth’s magnetic field. Descriptive statistics and correlation analysis were used to examine students’ performance across concepts and knowledge types. The results show that the overall mean score of students’ knowledge was 50.12, indicating a moderate level of understanding. Among the concepts analyzed, the earth’s magnetic field topic obtained the highest average score (51.86), while earthquakes showed the lowest (48.72). In terms of knowledge types, factual knowledge achieved slightly higher scores compared to conceptual and procedural knowledge. Correlation analysis revealed significant positive relationships between knowledge scores across the lithosphere concepts (p < 0.001), suggesting that students’ understanding of one concept is related to their understanding of other concepts. These findings indicate that although students demonstrate relatively balanced knowledge across concepts, further improvement is needed, particularly in strengthening conceptual and procedural understanding. The results highlight the importance of implementing learning approaches that support deeper conceptual engagement and scientific reasoning in lithosphere-related topics.

Abstract

Sustainability awareness is an understanding and concern for environmental, social, and economic issues that enable current needs to be met without sacrificing future generations. The aim of this study is to determine the profile of sustainability awareness of physics education students at Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa, especially on the theme of global warming. Sustainability awareness comprises three dimensions: knowledge, attitudes, and behavior. The sample in this study comprised 80 students, 64 females, and 16 males. The research instrument used in this study was a Likert-scale questionnaire with 1-4 options: disagree, agree, and strongly agree. The results showed that students' sustainability awareness was 3.09, in the high category, but their sustainability knowledge was still in the medium category. The results also showed that gender did not influence sustainability awareness. Students from the Tangerang district had greater sustainability awareness than those from other regions.

Abstract

Salted fish, nowadays, most traders use dangerous preservatives; the preservative is Formalin. Traders use these chemicals because food becomes more durable, even though it will be consumed by humans. But because of a lack of public knowledge about foods that contain hazardous chemicals. Therefore, an automatic device based on an Arduino Uno R3 microcontroller is designed. This Arduino Uno R3 microcontroller-based system can test food practically and effectively, which shows quantitative results, because it does not take a long time to see the results. The TCS3200 color sensor is used to detect food samples containing Formalin mixed with Formalin Main Reagent according to the dose. Then the sensor will detect the color that changes after everything has reacted, and the buzzer alarm will sound when the positive result contains Formalin. The test results will be displayed on the 16x2 LCD screen and Java NetBeans application, where the output is in the form of detection of formalin or formalin-free. Preliminary data collection in this study was conducted using literature and observation. Data analysis techniques used are quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis. Based on the results of the study, the level of performance test data, Development of Formalin Content Test Equipment in Salted Fish Using TCS3200 Color Sensor Based on Arduino Microcontroller, obtained a score of 74 with the category "Very Feasible".

Abstract

Physics teacher education is faced with the challenge of equipping prospective teachers with TPACK competencies and skills to design learning media that are relevant to Generation Z. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of gamification-integrated Project-Based Learning (PBL) programs through the production of educational game show media "Who's the Next Einsteingen?" or WtNE. This study uses a program evaluation approach with the CIPP and Kirkpatrick evaluation models. Participants consisted of 50 prospective physics teacher students as project makers and 40 students as audiences. Data was collected through project performance appraisal instruments and Likert-scale user response questionnaires, which were then analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of the performance evaluation showed that the majority of project makers (66%) obtained a final grade of “A”, which indicates successful mastery of pedagogical and technical competencies. In addition, product evaluations show that audiences respond very positively, with gamification attractiveness indicators achieving the highest approval (87.8%). It can be concluded that the WtNE gamification-based PBL model is effective as a holistic learning ecosystem that is able to develop the competencies of prospective physics teachers while producing media that is in great demand by target users.
