Abstract

This research is a classroom action research that aims to provide solutions on how to solve learning difficulties faced by class XI students of Industrial Mechanical Engineering, SMK Negeri 4 Cilegon, which are related to the subject of machine production and construction processes. At this time the learning method uses the Student Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD) model which is packaged modularly,  in the hope that students can develop their own potential independently so that they can complete the learning material thoroughly (mastery learning) but student achievement still does not show the expected results. The implementation of this class action research was conducted in two cycles using JIGSAW cooperative learning methods that can improve student achievement and student activity participation. This result can be seen from the first formative test, where the class average value is 4.05, and through observing the percentage of student activity participation of 50.92%. After classroom action research (CAR) was held the student learning outcomes showed a significant increase. In the first cycle, the formative test results obtained a mean grade value of 5.54 and student activity participation of 52.38% (very good). In the second cycle, the formative test results obtained a mean grade value of 6.20 and student activity participation of 66.67% (very good).  As for the learning completeness criteria, the first cycle was obtained 52.38%, the second cycle was 66.67%.

Abstract

Lecturers in study programs make a major contribution to the quality of study program accreditation, particularly in the upcoming IAPS 4.0 completeness. The lecturer base needs to be managed through a concrete, transparent, structured, comprehensive, and accountable system. Lack of data management in lecturers at the Mechanical Engineering Education / PTM Study Program so far is still paperless based so that it is less effective, efficient, having to copy documents, and tends only to collect data close to the accreditation of study programs. This research aims: (1) to produce e-monitoring products on the performance of lecturers based on a cloud computing system; (2) knowing the level of feasibility of e-monitoring products on the performance of lecturers based on cloud computing system at PTM Study Program. The research method uses Research and Development (R&D), which adopts the ADDIE (Analysis-Design-Development-Implementation-Evaluation) model. The research sample was 11 PTM lecturers. Validators of eligibility included the chairman of the LPM and the chair of the UST IT team. The instruments used included questionnaires and documentation. This research succeeded in producing a product in the form of a cloud computing system with a private cloud type with the Platform As A Service (PaaS) model. The data used as an assessment of lecturer performance include governance, HR performance, education performance, research performance, and service performance. The results of expert assessments obtained an average of 91.25%, which shows that this system is very feasible to use. While the evaluation results of the system implementation showed that 90% of PTTM lecturers were able to understand and skillfully operate the cloud system, thus this system is very feasible to be used as e-monitoring of lecturer performance that is accurate, accountable, objective, and safe to use.

Abstract

This research aims at investigating the performance of a gasification stove with wood-chips as fuel and recognizing the factors affecting. The stove consisted of a reactor, a char chamber, and a burner. The fuel was fed into the reactor with a certain amount of primary air was flowed through the bottom part of the reactor, and then was ignited from the topside of the fuel. Meanwhile, combustion zone move down and left char that would be taken out after the process finished. Combustible gases resulted from reactions flowed to the burner where the secondary air enters through holes located at burner side combusted the combustible gases. The highest performance achieve was still relatively low (7.3 %), so that model design improvement is required. The stove performance could be possibly influenced by the following parameters, namely: combustion zone propagation rate, fuel consumption rate, and specific gasification rate, which all of them were very interrelated and indicated temperature stability that was proportional to the efficiency achieved. These were shown by stable water temperature profile obtained from boiling process during gasification. The more stable the process the higher the efficiency.

Abstract

This study aims at assessing the various educational materials used in teaching mechanical engineering drawing to students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education, Semarang State University, and Vocational High School. Data were obtained from 71 university students, 75 public vocational high school 1 students and 37 students of Texmaco Semarang vocational high school using the questionnaire method. Furthermore, descriptive statistics and one-way analysis of variance tests were used to analyze data. The results of the descriptive analysis show that the materials used in teaching mechanical engineering students are in the “very necessary” category, while that of students of vocational high school is in the “necessary” category. The difference in assessment is evidenced from the results of a one-way analysis of variance test, which found differences in the results of the assessment among university students, students of State Vocational High School 1 and Texmaco Vocational High School Semarang.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with a tropical climate that has two seasons, namely the dry season and the rainy season. In the dry season, sun drying is the most widely used method for agricultural products. In the rainy season, people who open businesses in the food processing sector have difficulty predicting uncertain weather. The community needs solar thermal energy to dry food ingredients in the form of opak, tubers, fruits, etc. In the rainy season, the value of production has decreased. This study aims to create a drying machine that can help people to dry various types of food and fruit products. The research was carried out in several stages, namely field observation, literature study, design, manufacturing, and performance testing. The study states that: (1) the manufacturing process of electrical machine dryer was done in three stages: the initial stage, advanced stage, and the final stage. (2) the trial of an electrical dryer machine was used to dry opak and banana. Data obtained in the form of opak before drying weighs 3.4 ounces and after drying to 2.2 ounces. Whereas the banana before drying weighs 7.3 ounces and after drying to 4.5 ounces; (3) electrical dryer machine is very helpful in the process of drying food processed products in Subang Regency.
