Abstract

Traffic congestions, traffic violations, and queuing problems inWestern Lombok Region were frequently occurred at the main intersection, inparticular at four legged intersection of Gerung. This is caused by ineffectiveoperation at the intersection e.g. the use of the area for parking and stopping ofpublic transport (angdes and cidomo). Therefore, it is required to evaluate thethe intersection performance and to propose the intersection management.Primary data collected includes geometric, environment condition and trafficdata. Performance analysis was conducted for the existing condition (unsignalisedintersection) and for the proposed new traffic signal. The analysiswas based on IHCM 1997 method. The analysis for existing condition showedthat the capacity of the intersection was 3,159 pcu/hour and the degree ofsaturation was 0.74. This indicated that traffic management is required toimprove the intersection performance such as redesigning geometric andapplying traffic signal

Abstract

Bali Province government had performed Denpasar Sewerage Development Project (DSDP) to anticipate pollution in rivers, ground water/public well and coastal areas caused by wastewater sewage in Denpasar, Sanur and Kuta. First phase of construction had completed and begun the operational in 2008 with public service agencies or Badan Layanan Umum Pengelola Air Limbah (BLUD PAL) as the authorized organization to manage the project implementation. In this research, population and buildings were predicted using its function in service area and estimated by trend linier method that results in optimum capacity. Wastewater Treatment Plant Capacity of the DSDP project in Phase I is 51,000m3/hr. In 2007, the waste produced by the citizen in the service area is 40,777.41m3/day. In fact, this number of waste has increased continously together with the development of the service area, so that in 2020 the capacity of wastewater treatment will be in excessive amount, which is 51,843.54m3/day. Therefore, the development of IPAL is significantly required to fulfill an increasing demand of treatment capacity.

Abstract

The increase in compressive strength of concrete cylinder confined by spiral reinforcement has been well written in literature. The study of hollow concrete cylinder confined by spiral reinforcement, however, is very limited. Based on this situation, the author has conducted a study in which the increases of compressive strength of hollow concrete cylinder confined by spiral reinforcement were utilized to reduce further the cross sectional area of the concrete that could be reduced without lowering its supporting capacity and the concrete become more economical. The existence of hollow inside the cross section may give significant influence on the behavior of the structural element in the concrete to the withstand compression. The behavior of structural element in withstanding load could be studied through their stress-strain diagrams. The analysis is carried out by comparing those stress-strain diagrams of concrete cylinder that are massive and hollowed, and when those cylinders are either confined or unconfined. Furthermore, the stress-strain behavior of the massive concrete cylinder confined by spiral reinforcement could be predicted by means of equation proposed by Shah et.al (1983) and by Mander et.al (1984). By comparing the results from the laboratories testing and those predicted results from theory, the final conclusion on this concrete behavior could be assessed. The result of this study revealed that hollowed concrete cylinder confined by spiral reinforcement generally more brittle when compared with massive concrete cylinder confined in similar manner. The existence of hollow, however, did not reduce the concrete compressive strength.

Abstract

Regional Economic growth of Bali province is not evenly distributed in each regency/city which could be due to the lack of connection and interaction between centre of economic activities. These conditions indicate the need of infrastructures and facilities that link the between two areas particulary road connecting North-South of Bali which has standards of capacity and accessibility. This paper analyses the economic aspects based on the existing economic developments using the cost-benefit analysis method. The economic benefits of road construction generally account for the direct benefit of road users in the form of savings on vehicle operating costs and the time value. Meanwhile, indirect benefit in the form of macroeconomic GRDP (Gross Regional Domestic Product) is included in this study. The study results are: (1). if the economic feasibility of a direct benefit on the interest rate of 12%, NPV = Rp 118.7 billion; BCR = 1.2 and IRR = 14.9%; (2) With the inclusion of GDP benefits of macro economic, the feasibility of this project is quite sensitive. This happened if the investment risk on the interest rate of 18%, 15% increase in costs and 15% decrease in benefit with the economic feasibility indicators NPV = Rp 146.09 billion; BCR = 1.24 and IRR = 18.9%.

Abstract

"The development that we do need to realize is that future generations will be able to enjoy what we feel at this moment ...". This means that the progress resulting from the interaction of environmental aspects, the economic dimension and socio-political aspects in such a way is to guarantee each human life that live in the present and future and is accessible to socio-economic development without exceeding environmental limits. Urban development should promote a sense of justice, and sustainable local economy by increasing the presence of the informal sector as social nets, and the preservation of the heritage area to provide a collective memory for the community. Thus, the creation of sustainable city, competitive and autonomous through the planning and management will be effective only if integrated with land use management strategies and the environment.

Abstract

Research on the post-fire concrete immersed in the water expects that its strength can be recovered with a simple and inexpensive ways. By reactivating hydration process, the concrete’s strength can be recovered regardless of the age of the post-fire concrete. The time needed to improve the post-fire concrete strength depends on the immersed time duration in the water. This research is carried out to determine the relationship between the immersed time duration in the water and the level of concrete strength recovery. The average of split tensile strength of concrete post-fire at a temperature of +800 °C is of 31.707% or it is decreased by 68,393%. The splitting tensile strength of post-fire concrete after being immerse in the water during 7, 14 and 28 days are of 64,808%, 67,908% and 56,494% of standard concrete respectively, or decreased by 35,192%, 32.092% and 43.506% respectively. Soaking for 14 days provides the level of recovery of splitting tensile strength of concrete post-fire at its optimum. Soaking longer tends to reduce the recovery rate of tensile strength of concrete post-fire.

Abstract

The rapid growth of tourism has attracted a large number of provincial and district levels in Indonesia to capture a larger portion of this economic activity. They are competing to build tourism transportation infrastructure such as ports, airports, highways and other supporting facilities in order to stimulate economic growth and an increasing number of tourists. To avoid destructive local optimatization, it is important to re-think the role of transport in ensuring the sustainability and competitiveness of Indonesian tourism. To achieve this goal, it is important to understand the reasons of people travelling to Bali and factors influencing their choice. This study identifies the factors influencing destinations choice by foreign tourists travelling to Bali and evaluates the preferences of the selected destinations. AHP Model 4 levels consisting 22 attributes on the fourth level, is proposed and tested using data collected from tourists visiting Bali. This is to determine the selection criteria of the factors that are relatively important. Using fuzzy theory and TOPSIS, the preferences of 47 destinations in Bali were ranked. The results are used to establish the priority in transport infrastructure development in relation to tourism. The study results indicate that the search for pleasure with a total escape from daily activities, personal security, friendship and / or relatives seems are the three most important factors for the tourists visiting Bali. Meanwhile, the package tourist destinations consisting Kuta, Tanah Lot, Lake and Mount Batur are primary destinations during a visit to Bali.

Abstract

This study investigates motorcyclist’s willingness to pay (WTP) for slight injuries reduction due to motor vehicle accidents in the city of Denpasar, Bali Province, using logistic regression technique. The study found that total travel distance per day by all motorcyclists in the household, groups of motorcyclists aged between 25 and 34 years old, between 35 and 44 and between 55 and 64 years old influenced about 50%, 36%, 35% and 86% respectively on motorcyclist’s WTP for 25% slight injuries reduction and about 50%, 64%, 65% and 14% respectively on motorcyclist’s WTP for 15% slight injuries reduction. Total travel distance per day by all motorcyclists in the household shared equal probabilities in influencing motoryclist’s WTP for both 15% and 25% slight injuries reductions. Groups of motorcyclists aged between 55 and 64 years old prefered 25% to 15% slight injuries reduction compared with younger motorcyclists.

Abstract

In a construction project, a risk usually occurs during project planning, preparation, implementation and completion. Human resources as a part of a project risk management should have a proactive response to risks, whether it is the accuracy of perception or the methods used in responding to the risks. The human resources qualifications must be considered because it is related to the personnel who will manage a risk in a project. One important factor in the success of a project is the quality and competence of the personnel. It is necessary therefore, to evaluate the human resources qualification and factors contributing to the succesfully risk management in a construction project. Data were obtained from the project reports of PT. Adhi Karya (Persero), Tbk. They were analysed using Likert’s scale and statistical multiple linier regression. The software used was SPSS version 15. Based on the study results, the most influential qualification of risk management are education, working experiences in three projects risk management, working periods more than 6 years, and training experience at risk management.
