The journal contents are managed by the Binus Business School, Faculty of Economics and Communications, and Forum Manajemen Indonesia (FMI). BBR has been accredited by DIKTI under the decree number 158/E/KPT/2021. BBR provide a forum for lecturers, academicians, researchers, practitioners, and postgraduate students to publish empirical multidiscipline research in business & management research, from operations to corporate governance and marketing. All empirical methods including, but not limited to, qualitative, quantitative, field, laboratory, meta-analytic, and mixed methods are welcome.

Abstract

Front office (FO) is the poster image of a hotel. That is because this part of the first to welcome guests and can be regarded as the image of the hotel. Therefore, the officer who was in the front office should be able to serve guests with the best service so the guest will satisfaction can be realized and the image is formed with a good hotel. The existence of the front office as an image other than the hotel, as well as the information center. Customers only know part of this front office that can provide all the information you need, be it a hotel facilities as well as all information related to guest attractions such as location, schedule a show or concert. Hence, a front office staff should be kept up to date on the information circumstances surrounding the hotel and also the hotel. Officers in the unit front office should be able to well communicate and able to provide the needed of the guest. Because of limited number of employees, the trainees are very instrumental in petrified duties and responsibilities in the front office. Its presence will bring influence to the performance of employees in the front office.

Abstract

Cultural awareness is a basic knowledge that each individuality must has. In hotel industry, there are positive advantages that could be reached if a manager could appreciate a cultural, value, attitude differences of each person. This paper adjusts how important the understanding of cultural diversity and pragmatic implementation from several cross cultural communication theory, especially for managers in hotel industry. This paper also describes examples of cultural attitude and habits from some countries that could be refferences in workforce diversity.

Abstract

Knowledge management is an emerging discipline and professionalism, creativity, innovation, organization and teams need to be thought about in this new context. This paper creates a framework in which to discuss these concepts with literature research. It goes on to explore how our professionalisms, creativity and innovations is blocked in variety ways, including deep-seated beliefs about the world. The need for professional skills today in workplace faces a number of challenges, especially in unfamiliar and unpredictable situations. Finally this paper takes a brief look at two tools to support knowledge management, professionalisms, creativity and innovations - one in the human domain and the other in the technology domain. We are also needs to boost its capacity for continuous professionalism, creativity and innovation for both technology, social, economic, and organization reasons.

Abstract

Generally, companies will get continuous success because they have commitment towards strategic market planning, where they continuously auditing work performance, exploring cost decision, and investing to the balance improvement in short and long term and looking for new chances. Therefore, the suitable strategic marketing planning for companies are offensive type by invest to grow and defensive way by protecting position. However, in protecting market share, a company could invest to protect their position in developing market, to protect one high share, to protect one follower share position, and to protect one niche position.

Abstract

Golden Restaurant is located in Senayan, South Jakarta. Because of intense competition and a lack of good economic growth in Indonesia, the restaurant sales dropped sharply and having some problems in operation. The measures is to do effective business strategies to improve business performance by conducting research, create a budget to analyze and predict the financial performance, and formulate an effective working capital structure. Formulation of the problem discussed is NPV and IRR of restaurant sales for the feasibility of an investment, securities of the PI and IBA restaurant on the return on investment and analysis NPV, IRR, PI and IBA on strategy formulation restaurant. From the analysis of simple direct study expected an increase in sales to 90% per year and provide a significant positive NPV and IRR of almost 20% which is higher than the original expectation of 15% and reach breakeven point within 4 to 7 years. From the results of this analysis also shows the business is sensitive to increased sales, operating expenses and cost of sales. In addition to inflation and economic conditions affect the performance of sensitive business.

Abstract

As a company which implements differentiation strategy, PT. Adi Cipta has achieved competitive advantage in using capabilities through implementing organization culture and quality management. But, for about last 5 years, the company’s performance seems to be stagnant and having no significant improvement. This research aims to analyze the effect of capability, which is Organization Culture and Quality Management, towards the Competitive Advantage and its effect to the company’s performance. Data are taken from observation result, questionnaire, and interview with company’s holder and the decision maker, which then be analyzed with regression method. The research result shows that Organization Culture and Quality Management affect on Competitive Advantage, which affects to the company’s performance.

Abstract

In an article in the Harvard Business Review Theodore Levitt published The Globalization of Markets. Business activities across the country after it became a very interesting topic of study for both academics and practitioners. This topic has become so phenomenal because his arguments about globalization is the economic convergence with business activities without any national barriers. In contrast to the internationalization that tends to narrow and tends to do business across national borders. Central idea must answered by manager and entrepreneurs is whether your market global or international. Before answering them it requires understanding and a new paradigm on this matter. Furthermore, Thomas Friedman in his book "The world is flat" also reinforces Levitt idea and prescript a world with evolution of information and technology. This new economic eras opened new opportunity on entrepreneur point of view. There is wide open door to enter global market and more easy to accelerate company growth or new business start-up.

Abstract

In decision-making of choosing schools, people recommendation is effected. WOM factor and exhibition twice in a year for ISMILE school is a considered efficient and effective promotional media. The research method is to identify the effect of word of mouth and exhibition towards perception of value proposition and effects of decision-making. Analysis method in this research is validity, reliability, normality test, simple correlation and path analysis. Data gathering technique is questionnaire. The repondents in the research are 100 people, including parents from students in ISMILE school. The expected result from this research is a relationship among variables, significant effects from word of mouth and exhibition at the same time of perception towards value position and significant effects from perception of value proposition towards decision- making. From this research, ISMILE school should hold exhibition and focus to things that will lead to positive word of mouth so it could gain more parents register their children in ISMILE school.

Abstract

PT Multi Bintang Indonesia is a beverages production company, and one of its products are Green Sands. In early 2002, Green Sands revitalize to Green Sands Alcohol-Free and communicated through several promotional tools, including advertising and public relations. This study examines what brand image embedded on the consumers, and what is the level of influence of advertising and public relations toward the creation of brand image of products Green Sands Alcohol-Free. The research methods used in this study is test Cochran, multiple regression, and cobwebs. The result, brand image that is embedded in consumer brand is cool and trendy and unique and refreshing taste. Advertising and public relations by creating a brand image is only 7.2%, the rest from other factors. Brand image is embedded in the customers had not yet reached the desired scale of the company.

Abstract

PT Idola Insani Garment is generally moved in garment industry, especially clothing. The method in this research is to analyze the effects of manager quality and its compensation towards employee retention in the company. The analysis method in this research is regretion analysis. The data is gathered from questionnaire and interview of 64 current employees in the company. The questionnaire is using Likert scale that used to identify employee’s disagreement and agreement rate towards statements in the questionnaire. The result in this research is to acknowledge that manager quality variable has a weak relationship and concurent towards employees retention, that is 0,355, meanwhile compensation variable has a strong and concurent relationship towards employees retention, that is 0,586. That concludes that the compensation variable has more effects on employees retention than manager quality.
