Abstract

This study aimed to identify the variables affecting senior high school students (SHS 3) labor market aspirations in Ghana. This investigation was led by a quantitative paradigm. A simple random sampling approach of 445 SHS students was sampled for the study. In this study, a questionnaire was utilized.  To analyze the data, the main statistical tools employed were percentages, and contingency coefficients using IBM SPSS version 26.  From the finding of the study, it appears that students' demographic traits have a direct bearing on their labor market aspirations.  Moreover, the majority of SHS 3 students are drawn to the public sector, even though different demographic factors influence both the sort of work that students want to pursue and the economic sector in which they want to work. Furthermore, SHS students are not drawn to some of Ghana's most pressing labor demands. The implications of the findings and practical considerations are discussed in the study.

Abstract

The government encourages the implementation of Meaningful Youth Participation (MYP) in the Program Generasi Berencana (Genre). This study aims to reveal how the MYP principles are understood and implemented by the Depok City Genre Forum through the implementation of “Guyub Genre”. This type of research is qualitative with a single instrumental case study approach. The research results showed that Genre Ambassadors received training on MYP but did not have sufficient understanding. MYP is understood as a basis for activities and the involvement of teenagers as subjects of activities, but there is no clear and binding mechanism for its implementation. “Guyub Genre” as a form of implementing MYP is still limited to proposing ideas to the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) but is still weak in being involved in decision-making. There is a need to strengthen sufficient capacity for both young people and adults in the bureaucracy, as well as more inclusive mechanisms to strengthen the commitment of young people to participate.

Abstract

Gender studies explain the differences in roles, positions, attitudes, behaviour, intelligence, and emotions between men and women. The concepts of study habits, adaptation, and academic assignments trigger differences in batches of students. On the other hand, the double burden students carry apart from academic interests can make students' achievement indexes fail to meet expectations. This triggers differences in intelligence and self-management based on the burden they carry. This research aims to determine whether there are differences in the self-efficacy, self-management, and achievement index of Tadris IPS IAIN Kudus students in terms of gender, batch of students, and student burden status. This research uses a quantitative approach and a survey method. The results show differences in self-efficacy, self-management, and achievement index based on gender. Women are taller than men. A review of the differences among the batch of students shows differences in self-efficacy and achievement index, while there is no difference in self-management. A review of student loads did not show differences in student self-efficacy, self-management, and achievement index. In conclusion, there are differences in gender, self-efficacy and achievement index based on the batch of students, but no differences in student status.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to investigate the challenges faced by online and physical classes in social studies learning in higher education. This condition causes differences in online or physical face-to-face classes. Descriptive research of the survey type was employed to achieve the purpose of this study. Students in five randomly selected faculties in University of Ilorin, Nigeria made up the study target population. In order to choose sample from each of the selected faculties, proportionate sampling procedure was used. The actual sample size for the study was 200 Undergraduates, who were chosen using random selection techniques. Descriptive statistics of mean score were used to analyse the information obtained from the respondents. The findings of this study shows that students faced challenges while learning in both online and physical classrooms. It was concluded that despite the underlying similarities between online and physical classroom, the two modalities are very different from one another. Online teaching is typically student-centered which necessitates active learning, in contrast to traditional classroom instruction, which has been known to be teachers-centered and call for passive learning. It was a challenge for teachers to move from face to face in class mode to virtual learning, changing their teaching methodologies, and managing their time. And it was also a challenge to develop content which did not only covers the curriculum but also engage the learners.

Abstract

Thailand experienced a remarkable surge in tourism, welcoming 19 million visitors in the first nine months of 2023—an impressive 271% increase from the previous year. Notably, 3.2 million of these tourists were Muslim, present an opportunity for Thailand to bolster its appeal by fostering a Muslim-friendly tourism environment, encompassing halal amenities. A key focus is on halal restaurants, as research indicates that Muslim tourists prioritize certified halal cuisines, playing a pivotal role in destination selection. This study diverges from culinary-centric approaches, employing the theory of social practices to explore the evolving awareness of dietary preferences among Muslim tourists in Thailand's major cities. By examining religious beliefs and lifestyle factors, the research seeks to document and analyze the perspectives of Muslim tourists on halal restaurants, shedding light on the interplay between food preferences, religious considerations, and tourism dynamics.

Abstract

This study examines the role of digital activism in forming collective identity among youth through the “No Viral No Action” campaign, which addresses air pollution in Jakarta. Using a qualitative approach with netnography methods, data was collected via in-depth interviews and social media content analysis on X (Twitter) and Instagram. The study explores how Jakarta’s youth use digital platforms to organize social movements and raise environmental awareness. The findings reveal that digital activism fosters collective identity through inclusive and interactive participation. The “No Viral No Action” campaign successfully garnered widespread support with engaging communication strategies tailored to the younger generation. Participation in this campaign not only strengthened solidarity but also heightened awareness of the importance of collective action against air pollution. The campaign’s effectiveness is attributed to self-organizing networks and actions facilitated by various entities, including ordinary citizens, communities, and media. The study concludes that the connective action seen in this campaign highlights the significant potential of social media in driving social change. It also underscores the crucial role of digital technology in enabling active youth participation in environmental issues, impacting the dynamics of contemporary social movements.
