Abstract

There has been a lot of research on career development, including during the COVID-19 period, but the number of studies that specifically analyze related developments from year to year is increasingly limited. This study aims to determine the development of research that focuses on career development of vocational graduates by using the bibliometric analysis method. The analysis was conducted by collecting articles published in Scopus indexed journals. Publication data collection was carried out using Scopus journals. VOSviewer application to create bibliometric network visualization. The results of the analysis show that the United States is a country that contributes the largest number of publications that discuss career development in the world. Center for International Research on Education Systems, Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia is the first institution to publish about career development among the top 10 institutions.

Abstract

There are numerous external costs associated with logistics that can potentially have an indirect influence on businesses or society as a whole. The purpose of this research paper is to provide an overview of the external costs related to the health of truck drivers and how it can potentially have a detrimental effect on supply chains. Truck drivers are vital contributors to the logistics and transportation sector and their role has a significant impact on the global economy. However, the demanding nature of their profession often leads them to neglect their own well-being and health, which in turn can have negative consequences for the drivers themselves, their companies, and the overall supply chains. This is a crucial issue that has unfortunately been largely overlooked in the existing literature on logistics and transportation. The objective of this paper is to identify the matter and propose a solution which involves monitoring the stress and fatigue levels of truck drivers in real-time using wearable device sensors and the Internet of Things. The aim is to create awareness within the logistics community and to encourage future research that can help mitigate the issues that may arise due to the presence of unhealthy truck drivers.

Abstract

Logistic Engineering is a new-promising discipline that supports the ongoing trend of the logistics market in Indonesia. Vocational education has not accommodated the demands and needs of the industry. This paper aims to list the required skills for logistics professionals from a global perspective. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method using articles obtained from national and international journals in the last two decades.  The skills required are divided into two, technical competencies and soft skills. The result of the findings states that graduates are required modern skills that involves cross-functional, IT, and environmental as their advanced competency based on the specific logistic professional scope.  It is also noted that these advanced skills must expand to the direction of specific logistic skills to suit their profession responsibilities. Core or primary skills including logistic knowledge, management, and intrapersonal was summarized on general consensus of global profession requirements. Thus, vocational education must train current and advanced technical competencies to meet global requirements.

Abstract

Many institutions in Indonesia swiftly shifted their educational programs to online learning with minimal preparation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This has resulted in a situation termed as Emergency Remote Teaching (ERT), defined as a temporary and abrupt shift from offline (face-to-face) to online (virtual) instructional delivery as a consequence of a disaster. It is crucial for educators to grasp key aspects of utilizing online learning media. This research aims to identify recommended criteria and alternatives for the use of online learning media from the educators’ perspective, employing the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, which is suitable for ranking issues. This method involves a group decision-making process that employs comprehensive and multidimensional ranking in various domains. The research instrument comprises a questionnaire filled out by educators, including lecturers and teachers, totaling 13 respondents. The study reveals that the top-ranked criteria and alternative for the use of online learning media are the ease of operation criterion (K1) and the fastness alternative (A1). Future research is encouraged to further explore the application of the AHP method in other aspects of online learning

Enriching life experience, increasing competence, and self-cultivation emerged as the most prominent personal motivation. The aims of this study are (1) to find out the development of research study abroad during the last two decades; (2) to analyze the distribution map of study abroad publications based on co-authorship; (3) to analyze the distribution map of study abroad publications based on co-citation; (4) to analyze the distribution map of study abroad publications based on citations; (5) to analyze the distribution map of study abroad publications based on co-occurrence; and (6) to explore the factors that influence students to continue their studies abroad. The method used in this study is a mixed method of quantitative and qualitative methods. The results obtained are (1) publications on the topic of study abroad have increased on average over the last two decades; (2) collaboration between countries, authors, and sources based on co-authorship analysis; (3) collaboration between countries, authors, and organizations based on citation analysis; (4) collaboration between authors and sources based on co-citation analysis; (5) keyword relatedness based on co-occurrence analysis; and (6) several factors that influence study abroad participation such as quality of education, intrinsic motivation, cross-cultural competence, social motivation, and financial or grant program availability. The implication of this research is to provide insight into the level of interest and various factors that can influence students to continue their studies abroad so that later they can be taken into consideration by the students themselves

Abstract

The productivity of any establishment is heavily relied on the welfare of its workers which is a determinant to degree of their output. Hence this study examined the influence of human resources development on technical college teachers’ self-concept, and productivity in Ogun State. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population for this study comprised all technical college teachers in Ogun State with sample size of 60 technical college teachers. Structured questionnaire was data collection. Cronbach Alpha reliability technique was used to establish the internal consistency of the instrument and a reliability coefficient of 0.85 was obtained. Data was analyzed with descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation for answering research questions, while the hypothesis was tested using Correlation Matrix and linear regression. The findings revealed that there is significant influence of human resources development on technical college teachers’ self-concept (β =.748; p ˂ 0.05) and their productivity (β = .830; p ˂ 0.05).  It was concluded that human resources development must be embraced to regularly update educators’ skills. Recommendation include that relevant human resources management programmes such as workshops, conferences, short-term programs among others should be introduced to improve self-concept and productivity of technical college teachers.
