Abstract

The quality of welding results is influenced by the shape of the microstructure of the welding material especially in the HAZ region. The shape of the welding microstructure is largely determined by the cooling rate of the weld material. The cooling rate of the weld is greatly influenced by the heat input from the arc and the ambient temperature. This study aimed to determine the effect of different environmental temperatures on the cooling rate of welding results. Welding of GMAW fillets on medium carbon steel plates S50C, with variations in welding currents 90 A, 100A and 110A and carried out at variations in environmental temperature of 15oC, 10oC and 5oC. Temperature data on the middle, welding part is taken with a digital thermometer to compare the effect of each variable. The test results show that the greater the welding current, the slower the cooling rate. Similarly, an increase in ambient temperature causes a decrease in the weld metal's cooling rate.

Abstract

Daya dukung tanah yang rendah merupakan  akibat yang ditimbulkan  oleh tanah yang memiliki tahanan geser yang rendah. Hal ini karena tahanan geser merupakan unsur utama daya dukung tanah. Tahanan geser  yang  rendah  selalu  dimiliki  oleh  kondisi  tanah  dengan  konsistensi  sangat  lunak  sampai  lunak.  Upaya untuk  meningkatkan  tahanan  geser  tanah  lunak  yang  rendah  dapat  dilakukan  antara  lain  melalui  metode perkuatan  tanah.  Metode  perkuatan  tanah  bertujuan  untuk  menambah  kekuatan  tanah  agar  lebih  mampu mendukung  beban yang bekerja padanya. Saat ini tersedia beragam metode perkuatan tanah dengan teknologi yang memadai  dan metode  tersebut  telah berkembang  dengan  baik. Namun  perlu dijadikan  perhatian  bahwa suatu  metode  perkuatan  tanah  tertentu  belum  tentu  cocok  untuk  jenis  tanah  yang  lain,  apalagi  bila  ada permasalahan  spesifik  yang  ditimbulkan  oleh tanah  tersebut.Salah  satu metode  perkuatan  tanah  yang  efektif untuk  mengatasi  kelongsoran  jalan  dan  stabilitas  lereng  adalah  dengan  menggunakan  perkuatan  tiang-tiang vertikal yang berperilaku seperti sistem cerucuk. Cerucuk memiliki kemampuan yang lebih dibandingkan turap dalam mengatasi  overall stability. Alasannya  berdasarkan  pada kemampuan  cerucuk yang dapat menghambat pergeseran tanah pada bidang longsornya. Cerucuk dapat dipancang sampai melewati asumsi bidang keruntuhan sirkuler yang terdalam. Pada perencanaan turap, bidang keruntuhan sirkuler yang terdalam tersebut tidak diperlukan.Untuk  menunjang  perhitungan  konstruksi  cerucuk  yang  mendekati  kondisi  yang  ada  di lapangan sangat dibutuhkan teori yang relevan mengenai cerucuk. Berdasarkan hasil kajian menunjukkan  bahwa apabila overall  stability   lebih  menentukan   dalam  perhitungan   stabilitas   turap  dan  penjangkarnya,   maka  asumsi perhitungan  yang lebih mendekati  kondisi sebenarnya  di lapangan  adalah asumsi konstruksi  cerucuk. Asumsi cerucuk  didasarkan  pada  kemampuan  turap  atau  tiang  berfungsi  serupa  cerucuk,  yang  dapat  memberikan perlawanan   tambahan   terhadap   geser  pada  saat  akan  terjadinya   pergeseran   keruntuhan   menurut   asumsi kelongsoran berbentuk lingkaran (circular sliding plane). Hal ini apabila panjang turap melebihi asumsi bidang kelongsorannya.Hasil  kajian juga menunjukkan bahwa tahanan geser tanah pada stabilitas lereng yang diperkuat dengan  cerucuk  selain  dipengaruhi  oleh parameter  momen  maksimum  yang  bekerja  pada cerucuk  (Mmaks), koefisien momen (Fm), dan faktor kekakuan cerucuk (T), juga dipengaruhi oleh : a) panjang tancap cerucuk, b) jarak atau spasi antar cerucuk,  c) jumlah  cerucuk  dan faktor  efisiensi,  d) diameter  cerucuk,  e) posisi  tancap cerucuk,  f)  pola  pemasangan  cerucuk,  dan  g)  jenis  tanah.Selain  itu  hasil  kajian  juga  menunjukkan  bahwa panjang tancap cerucuk mempengaruhi  peningkatan kuat geser tanah, dimana semakin panjang batang cerucuk yang ditancap  dibawah  bidang kelongsoran  maka semakin  meningkat  pula kuat geser tanah yang dihasilkan. Pada spasi cerucuk sebesar 3D dan 5D yang digunakan,  kuat geser tanah menjadi meningkat.  Tahanan  geser tanah mengalami  penurunan  disaat spasi cerucuk yang digunakan  semakin besar, dalam hal ini spasi cerucuk yang digunakan lebih dari 5D (spasi 8D). Pada spasi cerucuk yang digunakan sebesar 5D dapat menghasilkan kuat geser tanah yang lebih besar. Faktor efisiensi juga dapat mempengaruhi tahanan geser tanah yang diperkuat kelompok  cerucuk yang menerima  gaya geser horisontal  (longsoran).  Dimana kemampuan  kelompok  cerucuk dalam menahan geseran tidak akan sama dengan kemampuan masing-masing  cerucuk dikalikan dengan jumlah cerucuk  dalam  kelompok   yang  bersangkutan.   Faktor  efisiensi  mempengaruhi   tahanan  geser  tanah  yang diperkuat  kelompok  cerucuk  yang  menerima  gaya  geser  horisontal  (longsoran).  Posisi  tancap  tiang  cerucuk terhadap tahanan geser tanah mempunyai pengaruh yang signifikan. Posisi tiang cerucuk yang tepat memotong garis  lengkung  bidang  longsor  tanah  yang  membentuk  sudut  30o  dan  450  terhadap  horisontal  menghasilkan tahanan geser yang lebih besar daripada yang dihasilkan pada sudut 0o.

Abstract

The process of coating is a metal coating process well with other metals or metal oxides. Even now coating paint / color is also using coating processes. Therefore, there is a hot coating, powder coating, electrical coating, and so forth. Therefore it is necessary to examine more deeply how to get the high-quality coating process. The type of coating used herein are electrically degreasing. A metal plating actors not only get results pengalanman other people are there in the field. The problem until now no one has conducted a study / research in the coating process (electrically degreasing) metal with acids of fruits .Penelitian was conducted in the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering Polteknik Malang The aim of this study are: 1. Finding how much influence sour lime in steel metal precoating process. 2. Determining factors and optimum levels to get to the surface roughness of steel precoating results.The method used in this research was Factorial Design of Experiments. By taking two factors: the solution concentration and flow of electrically degreasing processes (coating) and. There are 3 levels of concentration are: 5 ml / liter, 10 ml / liter, and 15ml / liter of water. level. While the current level of 3 amps, 4 amp and 5 amp.  With experimental data collection techniques. Analysis with MINITAB.The results in the interaction factor concentration and electrical currents can affect the outcome of citric acid degreasing. Concentration and optimal flow in precoating process citrate was 5 ml / l and 5 amperes.

Abstract

Garbage of yard has the highest composition of dry foliage. Dried foliage has potensial organic content to be composed. Simple composting is by using natural aeration that can be done by open windrow and takakura method. This studi aims to determmine the optimal method to produce compost with hight quality. This researsch was done variation of dry composting method using open windrow and takakura method. The result of this study shows that open windrow and takakura method of composting gave no effect to the ratio of C/N, N, P and K on composting dry foliage, so it can be concluded the use of natural aeration used in these two methods did not give a different effect on the ratio of C/N, N, P and K on the composting of dry foliage.

Abstract

Sand is one of the key material in civil engineering, which is sometime overlooked during the construction process. In many projects, the first concern is about the structure and then the material. The improper use of material doesn’t show significant signs in the early stage of building service. Using low quality material may give significant impact after few years and when it comes to a concern, it’s always too late to be repaired. Sand has drawn many attentions in term of its quality and few works dealing with this topic have been reported. This study aims to asses the quality of sand collected from few government building projects in west Lombok. The results were analysed using statistic software, which is SPSS 16.0, to provide inferential analyses. A mixed model, namely field surveys and laboratory experiments, were employed for the research methodology. It was found that only one out of the seven project that used proper sandmin terms of quality. The rest do not meet the standards required by SNI (Indonesian Nasional Standard) for sand material. It was also found that the quality of sand used by the observed projects under this research was significantly differ from each other, in terms of their bulk density, apparent specific density, SSD specific density, water absorption, silt content, loose content weight, solid fill weight, and fine modulus. It is strongly recommended that the government should take a good control to the sand suppliers/providers as well as the builders especially when they are involving in the government projects.

Abstract

One of the problems in the operation of pipelines for oil and gas through the sea is the damage and failure submarine pipe line (SPL). The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the factors and causes of damage and failure of the submarine pipeline which results in the cessation of the supply of feed intake of crude oil to the oil refinery unit. The method used in this research is a application research with a case study approach to the handling of problems with damage and failure of submarine pipelines, how the replacement and how to protect it is most suitable and in accordance with applicable regulations. The results showed that the protection of submarine pipelines with articulated concrete block matresses and immersion as deep as 2 meters had completed the regulatory aspects and were safe against the effects of collisions and dragged ship anchors. The results of this study also recommend that this protection method can be replicated to overcome similar problems in other work units.

Abstract

Banjarese houses are developed especially in the wooden foundation’s construction. In case, this construction had many problems as an unstable foundation that caused building slope, building renovation, vertical development, etc. Pole stick hardwood timbers are needed to strengthen to support the building’s load. Based on this condition, it is necessary to conduct research related to find a model that explained how wooden foundations are modified. This paper's method was to collect field observation data by a photograph. Samples of observation were chosen that show the modification and variation progress of pole stick hardwood and woodpile foundation. Applied modification models were founded, that it were combined the wooden foundations with concrete foundations. It is useful to strengthen the building’s load support. This model was suited to the wetland area.

Abstract

The transportation sector consisting of cars and motorcycles annually increases, so the resulting exhaust gas keeps increasing. Exhaust gases that pollute the environment consist of CO and unburner HC, this is harmful to the environment. Objective to know the optimum value of CO and HC emissions when using fuel with octane value 88 and 90 with main jet size 72 and 105. What is the optimum change of CO and HC emissions at 4000rpm up to 9000rpm with octane fuel 88 and 90 Constant speed method with engine speed ranging from 4000rpm up to 9000rpm used for exhaust emissions. Results for main jet 72 octane 88 value 3.19% CO, 264,62ppm and optan 90 value 3.09% CO 242,29ppm. For main jet 105 octane 88 value 3.36% CO, 278,62ppm and octane 90 value 252,62ppm HC.
