Abstract

This article examines the thought of Mulyadhi Kartanegara on the deconstruction and reconstruction of modern science through a library research method and philosophical-analytical approach. The study focuses on three main aspects: first, tracing the historical and intellectual background of Mulyadhi Kartanegara; second, analyzing his concept of the Islamization of modern science; and third, exploring his idea of scientific integration. The findings indicate that Mulyadhi Kartanegara is a prominent Indonesian Muslim thinker who offers a profound critique of the dominance of modern Western epistemology. He highlights the inconsistencies of reductionist scientific approaches that neglect spiritual and metaphysical dimensions. His concept of Islamization does not imply a rejection of modernity, but rather an effort to reconstruct an Islamic knowledge system that is integral, contextual, and grounded in tawḥīd. In terms of scientific integration, he emphasizes the need to combine four epistemological approaches: empirical (indrawi), rational (burhani), intuitive (ʿirfani), and textual (bayani). The reconstruction of modern science, in his view, must begin with a fundamental reassessment of its epistemological foundations so that science becomes not merely a tool of technological utility, but a path toward maʿrifah and divine wisdom. Thus, Islam can emerge as an active subject in shaping a holistic and transcendental scientific civilization.

Abstract

This research examines Gibran's style of using gimmicks, unusual technical terms, and provocative gestures, which can be interpreted as a practice of deconstruction. He systematically undermines traditional binary oppositions such as "substance vs. gimmicks" and "ethical vs. unethical" through questions like "greenflation" and on-stage gestures. This creates tensions of meaning. Furthermore, this communication style has a significant impact on public perception, triggering strong polarization. Gibran successfully cultivated an image as a confident representative of "youth," but he also drew criticism for being condescending to opponents and lacking substance. This divided public perception demonstrates that deconstruction has shifted the focus from the substance of the debate to style and performance. The research used was qualitative, employing Jacques Derrida's deconstruction approach. This approach is descriptive and emphasizes the analysis of processes and the meanings behind them. The theory used serves as a guide to ensure the research remains relevant to the realities on the ground. Data were collected from video and article analysis of the 2024 Presidential Election debates, as well as from literature discussing Jacques Derrida's hermeneutic theory of deconstruction and previous research on political communication. The implications of this research can be concluded that Gibran's eccentric communication style has had a broader impact on political dynamics in Indonesia. His style challenges long-established structures of authority and hierarchy among the political elite, opening up space for unconventional forms of communication. This phenomenon signals a shift in how politicians compete and interact with the public, where unique "political branding" has become as important as track record. However, this also raises important questions about the health of democracy: whether a political style that prioritizes gimmicks and performance will erode the substance of debate and ultimately undermine ethical political values.

Abstract

This study explores the structure and hierarchy of knowledge in the thoughts of Imam Al-Ghazali and Imam Al-Farabi, as well as their relevance in constructing a contemporary paradigm of science. Both scholars represent two major poles in the Islamic intellectual tradition: philosophical rationality and ethical spirituality. Al-Farabi emphasizes the importance of logical and systematic reasoning as the foundation for scientific development, while Al-Ghazali highlights the moral and spiritual dimensions that guide knowledge toward its ultimate purpose—true happiness and closeness to God. Using a library research method with a comparative-philosophical approach, this study reveals that the synthesis between rationality and spirituality generates an evolution called Spiritual-Rational Integration, which positions reason as the means to discover scientific truth and revelation as the ethical compass for its application. In the digital era, this paradigm serves as a solution to the moral disorientation of modern science and offers a balanced path between technological progress, humanity, and divinity.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the growing phenomenon of modern mosque construction that not only functions as a place of worship, but also as a cultural symbol, religious tourism, and a means of spiritual education. The 99 Dome Mosque in Makassar City, which attracts attention because of its unique architecture as well as the philosophical meaning contained within it. The emergence of this mosque raises questions about how Islamic values and religious symbols are realized in a modern architectural form that remains rooted in spiritual meaning. Based on this, this research focuses on two main problem formulations, namely the background of the construction of the 99 Dome Mosque and what philosophical values are contained within it. This research is expected to uncover the deep meaning of the design, function, and religious symbols that make this mosque a representation of harmony between architecture, spirituality, and philosophical values in the midst of modern developments
