Abstract

This article examines the thought of Mulyadhi Kartanegara on the deconstruction and reconstruction of modern science through a library research method and philosophical-analytical approach. The study focuses on three main aspects: first, tracing the historical and intellectual background of Mulyadhi Kartanegara; second, analyzing his concept of the Islamization of modern science; and third, exploring his idea of scientific integration. The findings indicate that Mulyadhi Kartanegara is a prominent Indonesian Muslim thinker who offers a profound critique of the dominance of modern Western epistemology. He highlights the inconsistencies of reductionist scientific approaches that neglect spiritual and metaphysical dimensions. His concept of Islamization does not imply a rejection of modernity, but rather an effort to reconstruct an Islamic knowledge system that is integral, contextual, and grounded in tawḥīd. In terms of scientific integration, he emphasizes the need to combine four epistemological approaches: empirical (indrawi), rational (burhani), intuitive (ʿirfani), and textual (bayani). The reconstruction of modern science, in his view, must begin with a fundamental reassessment of its epistemological foundations so that science becomes not merely a tool of technological utility, but a path toward maʿrifah and divine wisdom. Thus, Islam can emerge as an active subject in shaping a holistic and transcendental scientific civilization.

Abstract

This research examines Gibran's style of using gimmicks, unusual technical terms, and provocative gestures, which can be interpreted as a practice of deconstruction. He systematically undermines traditional binary oppositions such as "substance vs. gimmicks" and "ethical vs. unethical" through questions like "greenflation" and on-stage gestures. This creates tensions of meaning. Furthermore, this communication style has a significant impact on public perception, triggering strong polarization. Gibran successfully cultivated an image as a confident representative of "youth," but he also drew criticism for being condescending to opponents and lacking substance. This divided public perception demonstrates that deconstruction has shifted the focus from the substance of the debate to style and performance. The research used was qualitative, employing Jacques Derrida's deconstruction approach. This approach is descriptive and emphasizes the analysis of processes and the meanings behind them. The theory used serves as a guide to ensure the research remains relevant to the realities on the ground. Data were collected from video and article analysis of the 2024 Presidential Election debates, as well as from literature discussing Jacques Derrida's hermeneutic theory of deconstruction and previous research on political communication. The implications of this research can be concluded that Gibran's eccentric communication style has had a broader impact on political dynamics in Indonesia. His style challenges long-established structures of authority and hierarchy among the political elite, opening up space for unconventional forms of communication. This phenomenon signals a shift in how politicians compete and interact with the public, where unique "political branding" has become as important as track record. However, this also raises important questions about the health of democracy: whether a political style that prioritizes gimmicks and performance will erode the substance of debate and ultimately undermine ethical political values.

Abstract

This study explores the structure and hierarchy of knowledge in the thoughts of Imam Al-Ghazali and Imam Al-Farabi, as well as their relevance in constructing a contemporary paradigm of science. Both scholars represent two major poles in the Islamic intellectual tradition: philosophical rationality and ethical spirituality. Al-Farabi emphasizes the importance of logical and systematic reasoning as the foundation for scientific development, while Al-Ghazali highlights the moral and spiritual dimensions that guide knowledge toward its ultimate purpose—true happiness and closeness to God. Using a library research method with a comparative-philosophical approach, this study reveals that the synthesis between rationality and spirituality generates an evolution called Spiritual-Rational Integration, which positions reason as the means to discover scientific truth and revelation as the ethical compass for its application. In the digital era, this paradigm serves as a solution to the moral disorientation of modern science and offers a balanced path between technological progress, humanity, and divinity.

Abstract

This study examines the dynamics of the development of hijab use and the meaning of women's honor values in Sungai Kunjang District, Samarinda City. The hijab phenomenon among Muslim communities has undergone changes influenced by various factors, such as the level of religiosity, local culture, the role of social media, and the development of Muslim fashion trends. In this context, the hijab is not only understood as a religious obligation, but also functions as part of the lifestyle and forms the social identity of Muslim women. Based on this, this study focuses on two main problems, namely: (1) the development of hijab trends in Sungai Kunjang District, Samarinda City; and (2) the values of women's honor in the development of hijab in the region. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of Muslim women in Sungai Kunjang District who have diverse age and professional backgrounds. Research informants were determined purposively based on criteria that have been adjusted to the research focus. Data analysis was carried out in stages, including the process of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the development of hijab trends in Sungai Kunjang District has experienced quite significant dynamics. This is marked by the emergence of various modern hijab styles and models, heavily influenced by social media, public figures, and women's practical needs in their daily activities. Despite these changes in the form and style of hijab, most Muslim women continue to view the hijab as a symbol of honor, Islamic identity, and obedience to religious teachings. Its use also embodies sacred, social, vital, and material values.

Abstract

The main focus of this research is how the epistemological construction in the thought of Muhammad Baqir Shadr? And how is the relevance of Muhammad Baqir Shadr's epistemological thought in the contemporary era? This research attempts to explain epistemology or knowledge constructively and its relationship to humans in the contemporary era. This research uses a philosophical approach that serves as a perspective in conducting research. Data is traced and collected through library research of Muhammad Baqir Shadr's works, especially those that have been translated. Then, the research data analysis method uses elements of hermeneutics, heuristics and coherence with the aim of finding conceptual clarity from related sources with the aim of finding conceptual clarity from related sources. The results of the study show that there is a very close relationship between epistemology/knowledge and human life in the contemporary era. Muhammad Baqir Shadr argues that the root of the problems of human life today is sourced from the perspective or what is commonly called worldview. The current human worldview shows many materialistic and pragmatic tendencies that are used as life goals. Muhammad Baqir Sadr emphasized the importance of a proper understanding of epistemology, which can serve as a foundation for shaping human perspectives, which is none other than Islamic epistemology. A true understanding of God, the universe, and self-existence can lead humans to the right goals and achieve true happiness.

Abstract

The domination of the ruling class in modern political systems does not always occur through physical coercion, but rather through subtler ideological and cultural mechanisms. This study aims to analyze the concept of hegemony within Antonio Gramsci's political philosophy, describe the construction of the relationship between the state (political society) and civil society, and identify its implications for their structural relationship in contemporary political contexts. The method employed is library research with a qualitative-analytical approach through content analysis of Gramsci's primary works and reputable secondary journals published between 2021 and 2025. The findings reveal that Gramscian hegemony operates through the dialectic of consent and coercion, reinforced by the historic bloc and the role of organic intellectuals in reproducing dominant ideology. The state is conceived as stato integrale, a dialectical unity between political society and civil society whose boundaries remain fluid and mutually permeable. Civil society simultaneously functions as an arena for hegemonic reproduction and a potential space for counter-hegemonic movements through the strategy of war of position. This study concludes that Gramsci's thought deconstructs the liberal dichotomy between state and civil society, opening an emancipatory agenda for substantive democratization. It is recommended that critical consciousness be strengthened through transformative education and the construction of an alternative historic bloc as a sustainable counter-hegemonic force.

Abstract

The background of this research is the increasing global environmental crisis, such as climate change, deforestation, pollution, and the exploitation of natural resources caused by the anthropocentric view that places humans as the center of everything. Arne Naess offers a new paradigm through the concept of Deep ecology which emphasizes that humans are part of nature and all living things have value that needs to be respected. Thus, this research focuses on questions regarding the background of Arne Naess's Deep ecology, the framework of Deep ecology's thinking, and its relevance in the analysis of environmental ethics. This research applies a qualitative method with a literature study approach and philosophical analysis. The philosophical approach is applied to evaluate the concepts, values, and basic thinking of Arne Naess regarding Deep ecology, while the hermeneutic approach is used to interpret the meaning contained in his works. Primary data sources come from Arne Naess's writings related to Deep ecology and environmental ethics, while secondary data are obtained from books, journals, scientific articles, and relevant previous studies. Data collection techniques are carried out through systematic literature searches and analyzed using descriptive, interpretative, deductive, and inductive methods. The results of the study indicate that Deep ecology is a philosophical perspective that views humans as elements within the entire ecosystem. Arne Naess rejects the view that places humans at the center and asserts that every living creature has intrinsic value. The ideas of self-realization and ecosophy form the basis of human ecological awareness, enabling harmonious interaction with nature. This research also indicates that environmental problems arise from human perspectives that exploit nature.

Abstract

The global environmental crisis demonstrates that ecological problems are not merely technical in nature, but also related to the crisis of human perspectives on the environment, which tend to be anthropocentric and secular. This has led to the desacralization of nature and encouraged the overexploitation of resources. In this context, Seyyed Hossein Nasr's thoughts in the book Man and Nature are important to examine as an alternative in understanding the relationship between humans and nature holistically. This study aims to answer three research questions: the background to the writing of Man and Nature, the principles of environmental ethics in Nasr's thoughts, and the implications of these thoughts in discourse and action regarding the contemporary ecological crisis. This study is a qualitative study with a library research type using a philosophical and hermeneutic approach. Data were obtained from Nasr's work Man and Nature: The Spiritual Crisis of Modern Man as well as from books, journals, and related literature. The data collection technique was carried out through a literature study using content analysis using an analytical-descriptive approach. The results of the study show that: (1) the background to the writing of Man and Nature is rooted in criticism of modernity which has eliminated the spiritual dimension in understanding nature, thus giving rise to an ecological crisis as a reflection of human spiritual crisis, (2) the principles of environmental ethics in Nasr's thinking include the sanctity of nature, the unity of the cosmos based on monotheism, human responsibility as caliph, ecological balance, and the prohibition of destroying nature, which is strengthened by the concept of resacralization of nature and scientia sacra, (3) Seyyed Hossein Nasr's thinking has implications in the discourse of environmental ethics through collaboration between science, religion, and spiritual values and at the level of action through changes in human perception and actions towards the environment towards a more responsible and sustainable attitude.
