Abstract

This field research seeks to show the effects of the crisis as a direct impact of the pandemic on indigenous communities in rural areas. Using an ethnographic approach, as well as a methodology in anthropological research, which emphasizes the research’s direct experience in understanding the socio-cultural dynamics of the subject being studied. This study acknowledges that the process of adaptation by the community in overcoming the crisis, is made possible by the availability of various methods of agricultural commodity production: vegetables-holtikultur and rice. The last option is to sell surplus rice production, whereas for small farmers, rice is a subsistence crop (private consumption). More than, indigenous peoples not only adapt but are also able to innovate by create a central laboratory for herbal plants, which in fact has long been the local knowledge of the shaman-medicine (sanro/balian). This activity is referred to in this study as a form of resilience by revitalizing their culture and nature. Interestingly, this resilience is practiced by young aktivist through the return home movement and encourages local knowledge-based practices that are revitalized as part of the articulation of the indigenous peoples' struggle for recognition of their identity, rights and livelihood (recognition politics) by the state. Keywords: Articulation, revitalization of culture dan nature, resilience, indigenous peoples, Pandemic Covid-19.

Abstract

Conflict in the Indonesian state cannot be separated from the influence of politics and religious understanding. The symbolization of religion and politics became part of the conflicts that were often faced. This influence is due to the existence of political forces that deliberately put religion as a tool of movement. Where religion, which is a transcendental form of human beings, becomes very political for the sake of economic interests. Muslim societies are trying to reform the society or the community in which the state survives. In addition, the elite sought to reform the country. This idea tries to interpret the Islamization of Java as an alternative conflict and accommodation between competing identities between Java and Islam. This paper uses a qualitative approach by strengthening literature reviews sourced from existing realities. The results found that the politicization of religion prioritizes its main political aspects and uses religion as a tool to create conflict. This happens because religion is one of the ways to create conflicts both vertically and horizontally. Therefore, in minimizing conflicts, Pancasila ideology is needed as a mediator and conflict resolution. Keywords: Conflict, Politicization of Religion, Religion, Politics

Abstract

The veil as a social phenomenon that is currently in demand by students has an impact on student social interactions on campus. This study aims to determine the factors that encourage female students to wear the veil and to determine the pattern of social interaction carried out by veiled female students. This research is a qualitative research using data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that female students used the veil due to internal factors and external factors. Internal factors are the need for security and as an expression of religion. External factors are the social environment which is dominated by friends who are also veiled. Social interactions carried out by veiled female students produce associative social processes when interacting with fellow female students, and dissociative social processes when interacting with the opposite sex. Abstract

Abstract This paper aims to describe the existence of Kalomba in the midst of globalization. In the global world, it is not only a process of cultural hegemonization, but it can provide opportunities for a plural and heterogeneous life to occur, even individuals and communities who are considered marginal are able to adapt in the midst of globalization. Local culture is not something that is backward and not modern, but local people are able to maintain their cultural ritual traditions and can respond to globalization by choosing and sorting out what must be accepted, adapted and what must be rejected. The results of this study indicate that the kalomba which was held a hundred years ago, which was originally carried out by Karaeng Padulu Daeng Seroang, has undergone changes in terms of cultural rituals slowly, especially in the current era. Kalomba has been touched by the modern ritual procession or the level of originality of the ritual is slowly fading away, as in the facilities and infrastructure used due to the globalization factor. However, this is a form of creative transformation of the Kajang Luar community so that their traditions still exist in the midst of globalization. Keywords: Existence, Kalomba, Ritual, Globalization

Abstract

Abstract This paper aims to explore the problem of the body and image of women trapped in the iron framework of capitalism through the industrial political economy system of capitalism laden with patriarchal constructions. Through this paper, it is hoped that there will be reflection and ideological awareness of women for the movement for change. The research approach used is the postmodern approach. The problem is analyzed using the perspective of Michel Foucaut's knowledge and power as well as the perspective of Jean Baudrillard's simulakra. The results of the analysis found that the capitalist political economy system through industrialization has trapped the body and image of women into contemporary culture, making it difficult to escape the grasp of the construction culture of patriarchal capitalism. It concludes that women's bodies, images and even sexuality are cultural constructs of capitalism that continue to position women on endless subordination.

Abstract

Abstract This paper seeks to explain the changes in the value of Assamaturu in the Bugis Makassar community, especially in Sunggumani Village, Gowa Regency. The results of the study explained that kinship relations are quite strong and the value of Assamaturu in the family sphere is still taught, it's just that its application in the middle of society today is not in line with the teaching pattern that has been inherited. Mutual cooperation needs to be maintained and preserved because it has benefits for the life of the community itself, namely being able to strengthen silaturrahim rope relations between relatives, neighbors and the community in general, reunite relations that have been fractured due to conflict and increase the sense of solidarity between fellow hamlet communities. Abstract

Abstract The patriarchal culture of the Balinese migrant community results in discrimination against women in various aspects. This study aims to determine the application of the patriarchal system to Balinese migrant communities in Kertoraharjo village and why this patriarchal system is still maintained. This research is a qualitative research, using data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the application of this patriarchal system is embodied in Balinese customary or cultural rules that have been believed by previous generations. First, the difference in the value of children based on gender, boys are more important than girls. Second, division of tasks and roles covering three important domains; domestic, public, and religious rituals. Women do heavier work than men. Third, the division of inheritance. Women are not entitled to the inheritance of their parents or the assets acquired by their husbands after marriage, while men have full rights. This subordination to women is still maintained because of the strong influence of Balinese culture brought by migrant communities, the lack of education that women receive, the upbringing pattern that is passed down from generation to generation from the family environment. Abstract

This paper discusses community empowerment in building food security on an environmentally friendly basis. So far, the problems that have arisen in the community are their low awareness of the process of meeting food needs independently, unutilized unused land or seasonal land as a source of food needs and the massive use of chemical fertilizers in agricultural activities. In addition, there are several objectives in this empowerment, including finding a strategy in building and increasing food security and building public awareness to meet food needs independently. The approach used in this study is the PAR (Participatory Action Research) method, an approach that involves the community actively in understanding a problem they are facing. Empowerment carried out by an econatural society that focuses on empowering middle to lower class people, conducting environmentally friendly-based food security training starting from preparing planting media, procedures for growing food crops, the process of treating and controlling diseases in plants using natural ingredients, as well as the practice of making POC (Liquid Organic Fertilizer). Even though the changes that have been achieved through empowerment have not been fully achieved, many people are interested and have an interest in implementing them
