Abstract

Urolithiasis can be defined as the formation of sediment anywhere within the urinary tract. The main factor that regulates mineral crystallization and urolit formation is the degree of urine saturation with certain minerals. This study aims to determine the degree of acidity (pH) and specific gravity of urine (BJ) cats can serve as an indicator of urolithiasis incidence and know the type of urolith formed in cat urolithiasis. A total of 15 urine cat samples with urolithiasis were used in this study. Urine was tested by dipstick to observe changes in BJ and urinary pH and the examination of sediments by microscope to observe the urolith formed. The results show that the degree of acidity (pH) of urine can be used as an indicator to diagnose urolithiasis in cats, but specific gravity (BJ) of urine can not be used as an indicator to diagnose urolithiasis in cats and urolit that is formed urolit struvit and urolit calcium.

Abstract

Abstract

Parasitic infections are inseparable from the epidemiological triangle, namely host, agent and environment. Bali cattle as host of parasitic agents are affected by infection by environmental conditions in the village of Baturiti. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence and intensity of parasitic infections in cattle from the Niti sari farmer group in Baturiti village. A total of 55 Bali cattle in Niti Sari farmer group cattle were used as samples. Stool samples are taken to check for the presence of parasites and predict the amount of parasitic load that infects. The method of checking the presence of parasites by floatation test and prediction of parasitic load by the Stool method. The results obtained were the prevalence of Coccidia protozoa 52.73% (29/55), Entamoeba sp.16.36% (9/55), Balantidium sp.20.9% (6/55) with intensity of infection respectively 1255.17 ± 964.82 oocysts/gram, 233.3 ± 250 cysts /gram and 150 ± 83.67 cysts/gram feces. The prevalence of Strongyl worm eggs is 61.82% (34/55), Strongyloides sp. 23.64% (13/55) and Toxocara sp. 18.18% with an infection intensity respectively of 420.59 ± 233.26 eggs/gram, 253.85 ± 64.55 eggs/gram and 130 ± 48.3 eggs / gram. Conclusion of Bali cattle in the farmer group Niti Sari Baturiti village infected with the parasitic protozoa Coccidia, Entamoeba sp and Balantidium sp. with low to moderate intensity. Infection by Strongyl, Strongyloides sp. and Toxocara sp. nematodes with low intensity.

The dogs examined on Friday, October 12, 2018, bear the name of Sam, local dog, male, 3 months old, weighing 2.1 kg. The dog is black and white brown. The owner of the dog is called Bapak Bagus and is addressed to Jln. Piranha II Sesetan Denpasar Selatan, Bali. Dogs have vomiting, diarrhea, have no appetite, drink, and look weak. The dogs were not vaccinated, but the parent dog was completely and systematically vaccinated. The results of the physical examination were a body temperature of 39.8 ° C, a heart rate of 172 times/minute, a pulse rate of 160 times /minute, a respiratory rate of 32 times/minute, a capillary reminder (CRT) greater than 2 seconds and pale oral mucosa. Laboratory tests in the form of negative fecal examinations and complete blood tests revealed hyperchromic microcytic anemia, leukocytosis, neutropenia, lymphocytosis, and eosinopenia, as well as a rapid test (parvovirus kit test). The treatment administered consists of a treatment consisting of the administration of a transfer factor and lactated Ringer electrolyte liquid. Amoxicillin 20 is administered with broad-spectrum antibiotics for the prevention of secondary infections. The treatment of vomiting and diarrhea is administered with perimper (hydrochloric metoclopramide) and guanistreap (kaolin-pectin)

Abstract

This study aims to determine the reproductive appearance of balinese pigs that are raised semi-intensively. The research was conducted in Grokgak Village, Buleleng, by purposive random sampling and an exploratory approach. Data collection was carried out on several breeders using interview techniques with person/farmer group, inseminator (secondary data) and direct observations in the field (primary data). Tabulation is done on primary and secondary data and analyzed descriptively to see the mean and standard deviation. Reproductive appearance research results show : bali pigs began to experience early estrus at the age of 6.7 ± 0.78 months; initial mating 7.8 ± 0.6 months; duration of estrus 2.8 ± 0.4 days; cycle length of estrus 17.8 ± 1.40 days; signs of estrus: restlessness, refusing to eat, swollen vulva, silent when his back is pressed and the pigs respond in a ready to mate position, pigs sometimes salivate, and a distinctive voice; duration of pregnancy 111.6 ± 1.50 days; litter size 10.8 ± 0.98 tail, weaning age 2.5 ± 0.5 months; weaning weight 6.35 ± 0.79 Kg; and estrus postpartum 79.8 ± 8.02 days. It can be concluded that semi-intensive balinese pig rearing produces a fairly good reproductive performance and very promising to be maintained in dry areas because the adaptability to the environment and feed is quite good.

Abstract

Indonesia has a variety of culinary diversity. One of the basic ingredients commonly used as a culinary is beef. Beef is very susceptible to bacterial contamination. One of the herbs that can be used as an antibacterial is chili. Chili has an active compound that is known as Capsaicin. This research aims to determine the effect of type, concentration and duration of submersion in chili solution into reducing bacterial contamination in meat. This research used Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 3 x 2 x 3 Factorial Factor, 4 types of chilli pepper (chilli pepper, curly pepper, and large red pepper), 2 chili solution concentration (25% and 50%), and 3 duration of submersion (5, 10, and 15 minutes). Each combination of treatments, the study will be repeated 2 times, so the total number of samples used was 38 samples. The variables that will be measured in this study are bacterial colonies (ALTB) grown on the Nutrient agar media. The results showed that chili solution and duration of submersion has a significant effect (P <0.05) in reducing bacterial contamination in beef while the concentration of chili solution does not have a significant effect (P>0,05).
