Abstract

This study aims were to supplement Moringa leaf meal and probiotics into feed. Moringa oliefera leaves are plants that contain high enough protein for growth and contain flavonoids, saponins, and vitamins A, B, C, and E which can trigger endurance, and probiotics can increase the digestibility of food in the fish intestines, so that absorption the nutrients in the feed can be completely absorbed. This study used a completely randomized design consisting of 5 treatments and 3 replications, in order to obtain 12 experimental units. in treatment A (4% moringa leaf meal + 6 ml / kg of feed), B (6% moringa leaf meal + 6 ml / kg of feed), C (8% moringa leaf meal + 6 ml / kg of feed), D (positive control) and E (negative control). Parameters measured were absolute weight growth, absolute length growth, specific weight growth, specific length growth, survival, water quality, and feed conversion. The results showed that the addition of Moringa leaf meal combined with probiotics in the feed had a significant effect on the absolute weight of 4.673 gr, absolute length 2.607 cm, specific weight 2.25%, specific length 1.07%, feed conversion 1.84%, but no significant effect on the survival rate. live tilapia seeds, with the optimum dose to provide the best growth in tilapia seeds is treatment B with a dose of 6% Moringa leaves and 6 ml / kg of probiotic feed.

Abstract

Respiratory diseases in pigs often occur in the production of modern pigs around the world and known as Porcine Respiratory Disease Complex (PRDC). Prevention of PRDC can only be done if the infecting agent is bacteria. The bacteria that are most often isolated in complex pig duct disease are Streptococcus spp. This study was conducted to determine the sensitivity pattern of Streptococcus spp. isolated from animals with PRDC symptoms on kanamycin, streptomycin and doxycycline. Isolates were taken from the results of the PRDC case study of pig origin in Tabanan, Gianyar and Badung regencies. Pure isolates were then planted in blood agar and a sensitivity test was carried out using the Kirby-Bauer method for each antibiotic. Bacteria can be resistant, intermediate and sensitive to antibiotics tested. This gives rise to a pattern of sensitivity to antibiotics so that resistant germs will cause treatment failure. The results showed that hemolytic ? Streptococcus isolates were 60% sensitive to kanamycin, 100% sensitive to streptomycin, 40% resistant to kanamycin and 100% resistant to doxycycline. While hemolytic ? Streptococcus isolates were 100% sensitive to kanamycin and streptomycin but 100% were resistant to doxycycline.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of herbs and yeast addition to drinking water on the weight and length of the digestive tract of broiler chickens. The study design used a completely randomized design with four treatmens and five repetitions. Group P1: Herbal medicene 10 ml/Liter drinking water, P2: Herbal medicine 10 ml added with yeast 1 g/Liter drinking water, P3: Yeast 1g/Liter drinking water, PO: Controls given water. Data analysis used analysis of variance (Anova) and if the result had a significant effect, it was continued with Duncan's Multiple Distance tes. The addition of herbs and yeast to drinking water had an effect on the size of the spleen and pancreas and significantly (P<0,05) on the weight of the spleen and pancreas, but had no effect (P> 0,05) on the weight and length of the small intestine, liver and broiler final weight. The addition of herbs and yeast to drinking water can reduce the weight of the small intestine and shorten the intestine, increase the weight of the spleen and pancreas, but have the same effect on the final weight. The use of herbal medicene should be fermented together with yeast to determine its effectiveness in the digestive tract.

Abstract

Currently, koi fish enthusiasts and fans in various regions in Indonesia, especially in Bali, have increased very sharply. In the conditions of transportation from outside Bali to Bali, it triggers stress which causes the koi's resistance to decrease so that disease occurs. Therefore, a quarantine process is very necessary to get koi that are healthy and suitable for cultivation. Diseases in koi fish can be caused by viruses, parasites, and bacteria, one of which is Staphylococcus spp. Research on bacterial infections in koi fish is still very rare, especially regarding Staphylococcus spp. in koi fish in Indonesia and in Bali. This study was conducted to obtain preliminary data regarding Staphylococcus sp infection in koi fish. In this study, the object used was koi fish which has any symptomps of diseases or died during a 14-day quarantine period. The researched koi fish came from suppliers in Tulungagung and Blitar, East Java. The size of the koi fish ranged from 15 -25 cm which was kept in fish isolation ponds at Raka koi and Tilapia Farm, Denpasar. The samples taken were 19 samples, the 8 samples are thescale swabs from koi fish from Tulungagung and 11 scale swab samples from koi fish from Blitar using random sampling technique. Staphylococcus sp was isolated with Blood Agar and MacConkey Agar media and identified by Gram stain test and catalase test. From the results of the isolation and identification of bacteria, 1 sample was positive for Staphylococcus spp. (5.26%).

Abstract

Colibacillosis by Avian Pathogenic Escherchia coli (APEC) is an infectious disease in poultry. The ability of APEC to cause disease depends on various virulence factors, including hlyF. The study aimed to prove the existence of the APEC hlyF gene in Bali and to find out the DNA sequences of these hlyF genes and their kinship with the hlyF gene from other countries. This study used two APEC isolates from free range chicken in Tabanan and Badung regencies. The isolates have been purified and were available at the Bacteriology Laboratory of Veterinary Medicine Faculty, Udayana University. DNA isolates were isolated using Chelex 10%. The hlyF gene is amplified using published DNA primers by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). PCR products were sequenced at First Base Laboratories in Malaysia using the Sanger’s Dideoxy Nucleotide Termination method. Both the hlyF gene sequences that can be analyzed have 100% homology with a readable length of 518 bp. Phylogenic test with 25 DNA sequences of hlyF gene on Escherichia coli and other bacteria in the world using UPGMA method with bootstrap (500 repetitions) was conducted with MEGA 5.2. All data have six polymorphic sites of nucleic acid and two polymorphic sites of amino acid . The hlyF gene from Bali was in same group with hlyF genes from various countries in the world. This gene can be used as a pathogenic marker of APEC in Indonesia.

Abstract

Bali cattle is one of the most important native cattle in Indonesia. There is one measure of reproductive efficiency. The achievement of early age of puberty in accordance with its genetic potential is important to achieve optimum reproductive performance and provide increase in productivity. One of the things that affects the appearance of puberty is the amount of estrogen in the blood serum. The purpose of this study was to determine the levels of estrogen in cattle blood serum. The study was conducted by recording the age first and then taking blood in cattle that had signs of puberty and then carried out checking hormone levels using the ELISA method. The results showed that the average age of puberty was 21.44 months and the average estrogen level at puberty was 84.75 ng / ml. Testing with correlation and regression tests showed a close relationship between age and estrogen levels at puberty with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.798.

Abstract

Bali beef is an ideal medium for the growth of microorganisms, because it is rich in protein, minerals and water. When placed at room temperature, the meat will spoil more quickly. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of laying beef at room temperature on the pH value and total bacteria. This research method tested 24 pieces of beef with a weight of 10 grams each and placed at room temperature (27-30°C) then tested with pH and total bacteria tests. The research design used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments of laying time at room temperature for 0 hours, 3 hours, 6 hours, and 9 hours with 6 replications. The research data were analyzed by means of variance and if the results were significantly different, it was continued with Duncan's test. The results showed that laying beef at room temperature had no effect on the pH value (P>0.05), but had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on increasing total bacteria. It concluded that the quality of bali beef placed at room temperature will reduce the quality
