Abstract

This study aims to determine about the histology structure and the morphometry white blood cells agranulocytes (lymphocytes and monocytes) of Bali cattle in Nusa Penida. A sample of blood from 50 female calves, had been taken through a jugular vein. The blood samples were fixed and colored by using Giemza staining method. The morphometry measurement was performed with was done under Axio Zeiss Imager 2 microscope with 1000x magnification. The results of the measurements were analyzed descriptively quantitatively, while the histology description was analyzed by qualitative descriptive. The results showed average mean lymphocyte diameter (9.22 ± 0.73µm) was smaller than monocytes (12.48 ± 1.73 µm). The existence of the lymphocyte and monocytes histologic structure difference which are found in the nucleus. The lymphocyte nucleus was round and filled the cytoplasm, whereas the monocyte nucleus formed a curve on one or two sides, thus, it did not fill the cytoplasm.

Abstract

Tuba root (Derris elliptica) contains a toxin rotenone which is an isoflavone compounds (flavonoids) included in the group of phenolic compound, which can kill fish and insects, including ticks and mites. Tuba root can be used as antiektoparasit in animals (eg fleas in cats), however research on skin sensitization of kitten to tuba extract was less or even not exist. This research used experimental animals; 6 kittens aged 1-3 months (unnoticed sexes) were divided randomly into two groups, three as a control (K) and three as treatment (P). Cats shorn size of 0.5 cm x 0.5 cm in the nape, abdominal and groin, then drops (one drop) the tuba root extract concentration of 15%, 20% and 25%. After 30, 60, and 120 minutes, visible signs that the onset of allergic skin itchy, red, or inflamed. The design used was completely randomized analysis method uses a variant level of 5%. Further data tested by LSD 5%. Results showed that the tuba root extract concentration of 15%, 20% or 25% did not cause an allergic on kitten skin (not significant p>0.05). It concluded that the tuba root extract is safe and can be used for anti-parasite in kittens aged 1-3 months.

Abstract

The main of this study were characterized of muramidase released protein (MRP) andexctracellular factor (EF) as virulence factor of Streptococcus beta hemolityc of Bali islotesand its patogenecity on mice. The MRP was isolated from the cell walls bacteria withmuramidase (lysozyme) and EF was obtained from supernatant of bacteria precipated with70% ammonium sulphate and then dialysed. These protein were identified by usingsodium-dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis ( SDS-PAGE). Isolates thatwas observed are five consist of three isolates from pigs and two isolates from monkeys.Pathogenecity test using 20 mices divided into four group. Group I inoculated with 0,1 mltodd-hewitt broth steril as negative control, group II inoculated with 0,1 ml inoculum ofbacteria of Streptococcus suis type 2 (strain D282) as positive control, group III inoculatedwith 0,1 ml Streptococcus beta haemolytic isolated from monkey and group IV inoculated with 0,1 ml Streptococcus beta haemolytic isolated from pig. The result of this studyshowed that all isolates were consist of eight protein bands of MRP and one EF of 110 kDamolecular weight. Eight protein MRP were 125 kDa, 76 kDa, 60 kDa, 57 kDa, 48 kDa, 45kDa, 30 kDa, and 28 kDa respectively. Each isolates had two major protein bands of MRP(76 kDa and 45 kDa).The patogenecity test in mice showed that the morbidity andmortality rates were 100% and 60% respectively. The prevalence of meningitis in mice are100%. Clinical sign were observed 30 hour post inoculated (pi) whereas mice found deathstarty 48 pi.

Abstract

This study aims were to determine the relationship between the parts of the front and rear foot length of bali calf with its parent. The object of the research consisted of 30 breeding calves and 30 individuals namely 15 male and female newborn respectively. Data in the form of measures footlong pieces of stem and parts of the calf leg length were analyzed using linear regression analysis. To determine whether there are differences between the parts of the front and rear foot length between the male with the female calf in a test with test T. The greater the ratio shows the development of long pieces of front and rear legs shows the earlier development. At birth the sizeof the back foot bottom, middle and top of the calf males and females, 63.7%, 46.5%, and 43.5% respectively of the size of its parent. Similarly, the size of the front foot down the middle and upperparts, 59.2%, 46.7%, and 44.9% respectively of the size of its parent. Development of parts of the front and rear leg starting from the bottom, middle and last at the top.

Abstract

Rabies is a zoonotic disease that can be transmitted from animals to humans. Most cases of rabies (98%) were caused by the bite of dogs infected with rabies, while the rest by the cats. This study aims to determine the antibody titer six months y.o local dog after the rabies vaccination using vaccines rabisin. This research was conducted in three stages, namely: taking blood samples in the villages of Buduk and Sading, serum sampling and serum testing using an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) test using 19 samples of local dogs with random blood sampling. The results showed that from 19 samples tested 17 samples (89%) had protective antibody titers (seropositive) and two samples (11%) did not have protective (seronegative) antibody titers. Seropositive was the value of Optical Density (OD) above 0, 5 IU, while seronegative is the value of Optical Density (OD) below 0.5 IU.
