Abstract

The aimed of this study was to determine the reproductive biology aspects of longtail tuna, namely the gonad maturity level, gonadal maturity index, fecundity and length of first maturity. Fish samples were obtained from the catches of fishermen in the Bali Strait which landed at PPP Muncar from December 2018 to February 2019. Gonad maturity level of longtail tuna in December 2018 was mostly found in immature conditions (TKG I). TKG III and IV are most commonly found in February. The highest IKG value was found in February 2019 (0.017). This can be interpreted that lontail tuna experienced peak spawning and was actively reproducing in February. The sex ratio of gray tuna is dominated by male. Fecundity at TKG III ranged from 18,800 to 33,200 grains and at TKG IV of 154,000 grains. The length of first maturity of longtail tuna was 495 mmFL (male) and was 487 mmFL (female).

Abstract

Along with the development of tourism and the well-managed Nusa Dua area, local communities have the opportunity to be able to develop several beach tourism attractions, one of which is Segara Samuh Beach. One of the aquatic organisms that are generally affected by environmental changes is macrozoobenthos, especially the phylum Echinoderms. Based on this, it is necessary to conduct research on the composition of the species of Echinoderms and their distribution patterns. For this reason, it is necessary to conduct an inventory study of the types of echinoderms that exist in the waters of Segara Samuh Beach. This research will be conducted in the waters of Segara Samuh Beach (8° 47' 13.80'' South Latitude and 115° 13' 42.57'' East Longitude), North Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali. The preliminary survey was carried out in April and data collection was carried out for 2 periods (May 2019 and August 2019). Sample inventory along with data processing and analysis was carried out at the Fisheries Laboratory, Faculty of Marine Affairs and Fisheries UNUD (Echinoderms sample). The largest species composition at Station I was sea cucumber (50%) and at Station II was dominated by snaking stars (54%). Stations III and IV have relatively the same or similar species composition (Figure 2). Subphylum Echinoidea is the species composition with the highest percentage, which are 78.79% and 80.95%, respectively. Other echinoderms found at these two stations were Asteroidea and Holothuroidea, 15.15% and 6.06%, respectively (Station III) and 14.29% and 4.76% (Station IV). Overall, the composition of the Echinoderm species consists mostly of the subphylum Echinoidea (47%), Ophiuroidea (47%), Asteroidea (7%), Holothuroidea (6%) and a little Crinoidea (1%).

Abstract

Mangrove is a typical forest and grows along the coast or river estuaries that are affected by tidal of sea water. The aims are to determine the mangrove vegetation and abundance of associated (Crustacea) in the South Coast of East Manggarai Regency. Important value, density relative, frequency relative, index uniformity and diversity obtained from vegetation analysis used as indicators to describe vegetation structure and mangrove forest diversity as well as the abundance of associated Crustaceans. This research was conducted in mangrove forest in South Beach of East Manggarai Regency in February until March 2017. To support the research, water quality measurement on mangrove forest was conducted. Measurement of water quality is done in situ (temperature, pH and salinity). Methods used in this study the quantitative descriptive. Determination of the sampling done by means of purposive sampling. A kind of the mangrove found to consist of 7 species that Avicennia lanata, Rhizophora mucronata, Ceriops decandra, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Sonneratia alba, Sonneratia casiolaris, And Xylocarpus granatum. The diversity category in a low and index mangrove uniformity category in a high. While the Important Value Analysis shows that Avicenia Lanata species have the highest importance compared to other species. The water quality in the South Coast of East Manggarai Regency are still worth to support life and development mangrove. Abundance Crustacea higher at the station I by abundance of 7,6 ind / m2.

Abstract

One treatment to increase the productivity of tilapia fish farming is by administering probiotics. Natural probiotics, besides it is safe for consumers, it is also very environmentally friendly because it is obtained from natural. The stem of banana (Musa paradisiaca) is organic waste that is commonly found in Indonesia. In the banana stems, they contain carbohydrates, protein, water, and essential minerals that can be used by microorganisms (bacteria) to evolve. Research conducted explorative research, by identifying lactic acid bacteria (BAL) potentially isolated from the banana stem probiotics (Musa paradisiaca) In specific media MRSA BCP and the addition of probiotics banana stems on Tilapia fish feed to see the effectiveness of the use of probiotics in tilapia culture. The result showed the density of lactic acid bacteria probiotic banana stems on the first day 0, day three: 1.63 x 107, the seventh day: 3:20 x 107, and the fourteenth day: 0. Results of testing the addition of probiotics in the feed of tilapia showed that tilapia given feed with probiotics that had specific growth rate and absolute growth is higher than the tilapia fed without probiotics.

Abstract

Tanjung Benoa is a waters in Bali that is influenced by the monsoon pattern system which has a different circulation pattern of water masses and varies between seasons. The difference in mass of water resulted in changes in the condition of the waters that affect the high and low productivity of the waters and abundance of mollusks in the waters of Tanjung Benoa. Mollusks have an important role for the aquatic environment, namely as a bio-indicator of environmental health and water quality. This study aims to determine the structure of the molluscs community and determine the environmental factors that influence the western season and the transition season I. Sampling is done in January 2019 (west season) and in March 2019 (Transition I). The results of the analysis showed a decrease in diversity and uniformity occurred in the fourth week (west season) and the seventh week (transition season I) with the category of moderate species diversity and medium type uniformity. The low value of uniformity and diversity in the western season is influenced by increasing pH values and decreasing waters nitrate values. When compared with the western season, in the transition season I the increase in temperature and a decrease in phosphate value occur in the seventh week. this result was obtained using principal component analysis (PCA) that used the environmental parameter index and the value of diversity and uniformity of mollusks. However, this value is still in the medium category. So it can be seen in the western season and the transition season. The state of mollusks in Tanjung Benoa waters is stable and can adapt to seasonal changes and environmental conditions.

Abstract

Echinoderms in marine ecology have a role as deposit feeders. This shows the diversity of the Echinoderms phylum found in seagrass ecosystems. Seagrass beds serve as protection and a source of nutrients that maintain the food chain. Tanjung Benoa waters are located in the waters of South Bali which has a seagrass ecosystem. Echinoderms as invertebrate animals can be influenced by abiotic factors, namely salinity and temperature which are affected by the season. This study aims to determine changes in the structure of the Echinodermata community in the western and transitional seasons I in seagrass ecosystems and determine the environmental factors that influence the structure of the Echinoderms community in the waters of Tanjung Benoa. Echinoderms data collection method used is the Underwater Visual Census (UVC) method. Data is taken by using purposive sampling technique. The results showed that in both seasons, the western season and the transitional season I, the phylum of Echinoderms found consisted of 4 classes namely Holothuroidea, Ophiuroidea, Echinoidea and Asteroidea. The diversity index and uniformity of the Ecinodermal phylum found in both seasons shows stable diversity and uniformity. Based on the index of dominance there is one genus that dominates, namely the genus Diadema. Based on the analysis of PCA in the west season, the density of Echinoderms is influenced by phosphate, nitrate, DO, salinity, pH and temperature. Whereas in the transitional season I density is influenced by phosphate, salinity, temperature, nitrate and pH.

Abstract

Mackerel tuna is favored by many people, with high consumer need at the market, can have an impact not selectively the size of tuna catch. The problem of the size of tuna catch can be known by morphometric research. The research about morphometric mackerel tuna was done at Tianyar Beach, Karangasem, there are two types of mackerel tuna it called is bullet tuna (Auxis rochei) and frigate tuna (Auxis thazard). The difference between bullet tuna and frigate tuna is body shape, body marked, body color. Morphometric characters of bullet tuna and frigate tuna as total length (TL), standard length (PS), fork length (PC), head length (PK), head height (TK), predorsal length (PPD), prepectoral length (PPP), eye diameter (DM), operculum length (PO), maxillary length (PRA), lower jaw length (PRB), height (TB), length of the lower caudal fin (PSEB), length of the upper caudal fin (PSEA) an increase during 30 trips (February - April), the increase in morphometric size of bullet tuna and frigate tuna from Februari until April related by animal growth and evolve. Fork length frequency distribution bullet tuna has a range between 216 – 278 mm, and fork length frequency distribution of frigate tuna has a range between 230 – 299 mm. Length - weight relationship of bullet tuna is W = 0,00002 and frigate tuna is W = 0,00006 , they have the similarity about length growth faster more than weight (allometrik negative). Composition of bullet tuna is 508 and 46 individual of frigate tuna in Tianyar Beach, Karangasem during 30 trip.

Abstract

Change in sea surface temperature (SST) has a huge impact to rainfall intensity. This research analysed the trend of SST all over Bali island for 10 years (from 2009 to 2018) using MODIS satellite level 3, covered 7.8958oSouth -8.8958oSouth and 114.4791oEast - 115.6875oEast. The data for rainfall trend was collected from 12 rain observer stations of BMKG (Indonesian Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophhysical Agency). The statistical correlation between SST and rainfall intensity were analyzed using Microsoft Excel software. The result found that the SST in Bali ranged from 25.4oC until 31.5oC. The change of SST has a similar pattern to the monsoon cycle where the western monsoon is relatively warmer than the eastern monsoon. The rainfall trend in Bali is closely related to the monsoon cycle. During the western monsoon,the average monthly rainfall value in Bali is more than 150 mm, while the rainfall value on the eastern monsoon is slightly different, which is <150 mm. The correlation between SST and rainfall is influenced by the monsoon direction.The correlation between SST and rainfall in the west and transitional season Iis weak with a coefficient correlation value of -0,46 at lag 0, whereas in the east and transitional season II showed a strong correlation coefficient value of 0.94 in lag 0 (in the same month).

Abstract

Sumberkima Village is one of the villages in Gerokgak sub-district that has the most floating net cage cultivation in Buleleng regency. The development of fish farming activities with floating net cage techniques had an impact on the waters. The leftover feed that is not consumed, and the metabolic wastes produced by aquaculture increased the fertility of the waters so that it is feared that phytoplankton are potentially causing the Harmful Algae Bloom (HAB) phenomenon in the floating net cage aquaculture area of Sumberkima village which can have an impact on water quality, aquatic biota and cultivator’s income. This study aimed to identify the genus phytoplankton that has the potential to cause Harmful Algae Bloom (HAB) and the abundance of phytoplankton that has the potential to cause the Harmful Algae Bloom (HAB) phenomenon. This research was conducted in February 2019 at the floating net cage in Sumberkima village, Gerokgak sub-district, Buleleng regency. The study was spread over 10 points of floating net cages determined by purposive random sampling to represent floating net cages in Sumberkima village. Data were analyzed descriptively with phytoplankton abundance calculation using APHA (2005) method. From the research that has been done, it was found that the type of phytoplankton suspected to have HAB potential was found in 2 class groups namely Dinophyceae with a percentage of 15% consisting of: Prorocentrum, Dinophysis, Alexandrium and Peridinium then Bacillariophyceae with a percentage of 85% as many as 7 genera include: Thalassiosira, Pseudonitzschia, Biddulphia, Nitzschia, Skeletonema, Chaetoceros and Ceratium.
