Abstract

Overcoming Poverty Trap : The Case of  Water & Sanitation in Indonesia. Poverty trap is a cycle in which poor individuals exhibit low health quality due to malnutrition and limited access to health related facilities. Poor health causes low productivity which eventually cycles back to low income. Indonesia significantly reduced poverty from 15.6% in 1990 to 3.3% in 2010. However, this achievement is not conveyed equally across regions. Using data form RAND Corporation, estimations showed that access to sanitation and clean water play a crucial role in improving one’s health quality. Keywords: poverty trap, productivity, income, health facility.

Abstract

The Effect Of Company’s Reputation, Job Description and Offered Compensation on Individual’s Intention to Apply a Job. Recruitment process is one of key HR activities that should be conducted appropriately in a company. However, the role of prospective employees in providing inputs to the company regarding the recruitment process is not clear. The aim of this research is to understand the perspectives of potential employees regarding the effect of company’s reputation, job description and offered compensation on individual’s intention to apply a job. The participants are 73 final-year undergraduate students at the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Udayana, with the proportionate stratified random sampling as the sampling method. This research used multiple regressions as its data analysis method. This research found that all three variables influence individual to apply a certain job. One interesting finding is that the individual tends to be motivated to apply job if he or she finds that the company has a clear job description Keywords: company’s reputation, job description, offered compensation, intention to apply jobs

Abstract

The Role of Audit Committee Characteristic and Auditor Reputation in Audit Quality Improving. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between characteristic of audit committee (independence, financial and accounting expertise, governance expertise and activity) and auditor reputation with audit quality. The audit quality is measured based on current accrual. Population consists of Indonesian Stock Exchange listed companies from manufacturing industry in 2008 until 2011. Sample was collected based on purposive sampling and resulted in 25 companies who voluntarily switch their auditors within four years observation. Data was collected from the annual report and was analyzed with factor analysis. Hypotesis tested with multiple regression analysis. The research results found that audit committee characterictics and auditor reputation have significant effect on current accrual but in positive direction. This finding indicates that both auditor reputation and committee audit was unable to reduce current accrual and improve audit quality Keywords: committee audit, audit quality, corporate governance

Abstract

The Social, Economic, and Psychological Impacts of  HIV AIDS Sufferers In Denpasar. This study aims to investigate the social, economic, and psychological impacts of HIV AIDS sufferers in Denpasar. Data was collected with accidental sampling of 86 respondents of HIV AIDS sufferers in Denpasar. McNemar test was used to measure the social, economic, and psychological impacts of the respondents before and after being infected with the HIV AIDS disease. The findings of the research indicate that social variables that changes after getting infected are the intensity of the meeting, the intensity of visiting their family or relatives, the intensity of mutual cooperation, and the intensity of attending the invitation of traditional gatherings. The economics variable that changes is only the working hour. The psychological indicators namely stress, frustration, anxiety, anger, denial, shyness, and grief also experienced changes. Keywords: the economic, psychological, and social impacts, HIV AIDS

Abstract

The Influence Of Firm Growth And Sales Volume On Capital Structure And Cash Holding. This research is aimed to explain the influence of firm growth and sales volume on capital structure and cash holding in mining companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2008 until 2011.  Census method is used in this research. Researcher is using secondary data taken from Indonesia Capital Market Directory 2008-2012. The research hypothesis is tested by a path analysis. The result of this study shows that asset growth and sales volume has a positive and significant influence on capital structure, asset growth  and sales volume has a positive and significant influence on cash holding, capital structure has a negative and significant influence on cash holding, capital structure is not able to mediate the influence of asset growth and sales volume on cash holding. Keywords: asset growth, sales volume, capital structure, cash holding

Abstract

Organizational Culture Engineering of The Seven Characters Dhyana Pura University Bali. Organizational culture can improve the behavior and motivation of human resources so as to develop their performance and in turn can increase organizational performance. Organizational culture can be created by the owner or head of the organization, according to the organization’s needs, as has been done by Dhyana Pura University by implementing a program called seven (7) characters to be an organizational culture. Culture of the organization will function optimally if all members of the organization have a common perception of the culture and are committed to implement it. Organizational culture can be a major instrument of competitive advantage, if it is supported and approved by all members of the organization. Abstract

The Relation of Financial Information Disclosure in Graph with Changes In Company’sAnnual Reports Listed In Indonesian Stock Exchanges. Graph usage is positively related to the changeof the company’s performance. Companies include graph information in company documents to makegood performance more salient to the user, while companies do not include graph information to concealpoor performance. The use of graphs by management represents part of the impression managementprocess, which concerns the manipulation of the content and presentational formats such as graphs orpictures. The preparers of graphs believe that they can design graphs to manage the viewer’s impressions.The result concluded that Indonesian companies tend to use key financial variable graph when thecompany’s performance has increased and that Indonesian companies that have decreasing trend tendto use favorable distortion that can favor the look of the company. Keywords: company performance, key financial variable graph, impression management

Abstract

The Mediating Role of Corporate Reputation on the Relationship between Market Orientation and CSR with Business Performance. This study aims to analyze the mediating role of corporate reputation on the relationship between market orientation and CSR with business performance, this study using questionnaires and interviews. Object of this study was the banking industry, both private banks and state banks in Bali. Prior to analysis to test the validity and reliability testing of the research instruments. Data were analyzed by Structural Equation Model (SEM) using SPSS software and smartPLS. The results of this study demonstrate, market orientation and CSR has a positive and significant relationship indirectly about business performance is mediated by a corporate reputation. Market orientation and CSR has a positive and significant relationship directly tehadap corporate reputation. Abstract

Factors Affecting the Garbage Retribution Revenue of Badung District. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that have impact to  the garbage retribution revenue of Badung District. The data used is primary data from questionnaires. The analysis technique used is descriptive analysis and path analysis. Variable used is the level of quality of service, ability to pay, garbage levy rates, willingness to pay, garbage levy receipts. The results of this study indicate that the level of quality of service, ability to pay,  and garbage levy rates simultaneously have positive and significant effect on WTP trash and positive and significant impact on the acceptance of waste retribution. The quality of service levels directly influence the acceptance of waste retribution and indirect influence through the willingness to pay of garbage. Abstract

The Effect of  Leadership on Public Participation, Public Participation to Influence Project Success Rate, and The Effect of Leadership on Project Success Rate of PNPM Mandiri Perdesaan in Gerokgak. The purpose of this study to determine the effect of leadership on public participation, public participation to influence project success rate, and the effect of leadership on project success rate of PNPM Mandiri Perdesaan in Gerokgak .In this case used data by questionnaire which distributed to 180 people who received the PNPM Mandiri Perdesaan program, divided into strata of the poor, middle and upper Data were analyzed with confirmatory methods, while the data analysis technique used is the analysis of the Structural Equation Model ( SEM ). Analysis showed that leadership has a positive effect on public participation, public participation slight positive effect on the project success rate, and leadership has a positive influence on the success rate of projects in PNPM Mandiri Perdesaan in Gerokgak. Keywords: public participation, leadership, project success rate, PNPM Mandiri Perdesaan
