The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of corruption and money laundering on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflow in ASEAN by using panel data which covers ten years observation (2000–2009) and five cross sections of selected countries i.e. Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Philippines. The model is estimated using ordinary least square method with fixed effect estimation. The result shows that there is a significant positive association between the establishment of Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and FDI inflow, while Corruption Perception Index (CPI), as the proxy of corruption, does not significantly affect FDI inflow.

Abstract

This paper examines the influence of cultural and bargaining Power on child labor and school participation in East Java. The prevalence of children aged 10-17 years who work in East Java is around 4.74%. About 28.03% of children who work are still in school. Whereas school dropouts reach 11.28%. Referring to the theory of collective model and using the method of multinomial logit regression analysis on the Intercensal Population Survey (SUPAS) data in 2015, this paper concludes that culture proxied through tlatah had a significant effect. Children who come from Arek tlatah are most likely to work. Children from the Pandalungan tlatah are the least likely to go to school. While children from Madura Pulau tlatah are most likely to go to school while working.. Abstract

The aims of this research is to determine the effect of crop loss shocks against child labor and the role of the assets held by households, both farm and non-farm business can reduce the impact of these shocks. The results showed that the effects of crop loss shocks insignificantly affect child labor at the age of 5-14 years. This indicates that in the event of crop loss shocks, households do not use a coping strategy by increasing child labor to dampen the shocks. Meanwhile, assets used for non-farm business was able to reduce the demand for child labor. On the other hand, farm business assets has positive effect on working children aged 5-14. This indicates the wealth effect phenomenon that occurred in Indonesia.

Abstract

Financial inclusion is a banking instrument that plays an important role in financial system stability through access and financial services. To improve financial performance, technology integration is now an interesting issue. This study aims to determine the role of fintech (financial technology) and other financial inclusion instruments such as MSME credit in influencing the stability of the Indonesian financial system. Error Correction Model (ECM) estimation is used to determine the long and short term effects through cointegration values ??between independent variables in influencing the dependent variable. The results of the analysis show that the number of bank branches has a significant long-term influence on financial stability through NPL performance, so direct investment directed at the banking sector also has a significant influence on financial system stability in the long run. However, fintech instruments such as ATMs and e-money have no significant effect on financial system stability. This condition was motivated by the limited reach of fintech development in the financial sector, especially for the unbankable community
