Abstract

This article focuses on showing how the efforts of Muslims in England are trying to fight the unreliable stigma and accusations of being a radical religion by spreading the values of moderate Islam that are peaceful without violence. This article is important and interesting because the willingness to fight the stigma is carried out in various fields and levels in the hope of gaining legitimacy from the British government. To understand the efforts to spread Islamic values in England, this study uses Martha Finnemore's theory of constructivism with descriptive analysis in order to better understand what the actions of the Muslim community are like. The data was collected using the Harzing Publish or Perish application through data sources from Google Scholar within the time range from 2005 to 2021, and the literature was categorised and analysed using the Nvivo 12 Plus application. The result is that the spread of moderate Islamic values started with Muslim individuals trying to separate extremism from Islam and then Muslim organisations trying an open approach and discussion towards non-Muslims until they got legitimacy. After that, the government builds an anti-extremism institute as a clear divider between peaceful Islam and radical Islam. This study contributes to explaining the deradicalization efforts of British Muslims in depth, which has not been explained in previous studies. This study is limited to only explaining how to deradicalize Islam in the domestic scope

Abstract

Japan is a Muslim minority country but intensively promotes halal or Muslim-friendly tourism with the slogan "Yokosho Japan," which means welcome to Japan, as an invitation to travel to Japan. Several researchers consider that Muslim-friendly tourism in Japan has not shown seriousness and has become a debate whether the Muslim-friendly concept in Japan has a fundamental basis in Islam or only as a strategy to strengthen the economy and build Muslim-friendly branding in foreign eyes. This qualitative research uses the view of maqasid shariah dharuriyah to examine Muslim-friendly tourism in Japan with indicators from the Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) as comparison material. The study's results found that Muslim-friendly governance in Japan still ignores the principles of maqasid shariah dharuriyah. The tiny Muslim population is Japan's weakness in implementing these principles. Using content analysis, in the view of maqasid shariah dharuriyah Japan does not yet have sufficient standards to become a Muslim-friendly country.

The purpose of this study is to find out the hidden interests or objectives of the European Union after imposing trade barriers on Indonesian palm oil exports, which will be reviewed through the theory of neo-mercantilism and also the concept of national interest. This research uses qualitative methods in collecting data related to problems using a descriptive approach to ensure a consistent understanding of the ideas considered. Our analysis shows unprecedented public interest in the European Union regarding discrimination against Indonesian palm oil. This is an effort to protect the European Union from their domestic vegetable oils being less competitive than vegetable oils from Indonesian palm oil. The European Union imposed trade barriers to prevent Indonesian palm oil from quickly entering the European market. Keywords: palm oil discrimination, European Union, RED II

Abstract

The high-speed train infrastructure project is not only seen as an economic issue, more than that, high-speed train technology has developed into a world political issue. Rivalry between countries and manufacturers of high-speed trains occurs in several regions of the world, one of which is Indonesia. The rivalry between China and Japan in the high-speed train provides an opportunity for Indonesia to play a role and maximize bargaining power to take advantage of the rivalry. Japan, which is Indonesia's strategic partner, received the opportunity to build the Jakarta-Surabaya high-speed train after previously losing to China in the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project. Using an international political economy approach, this paper will discuss the shape of Indonesia's interest in Japan in the Jakarta-Surabaya high-speed rail construction project. There are several things that are seen, namely Japan's strategic role for Indonesia in terms of investment, Japan's important role for Indonesia's economic growth, Indonesia's need for sustainable infrastructure development and regional connectivity, and the need for technology transfer aimed at building human resources and realizing the better transportation system.
